I knew Miquella was a villain the moment I knew he was a femboy that forces people to love him and compels them to do shit for him. Which is most likely what led to Godwynns death, possibly willingly so due to Miquellas compulsion abilities.

That would be a massive departure from the FromSoft's approach to souls game storytelling, but I wouldn't put it past them.

And/or to embrace who one really is. Seeing as Miquella is the only one who actually gives a fuck about those not touched by grace. Coming to terms with who you really are is terrifying because then you will be accepted/judged for you.

Very possible that the dialogue after "There's nothing more terrifying" is cut off and the narrator is about to elaborate on what actually is so terrifying. Maybe it really is just the confession part

it moreso looks like a gap between the two trees. The straight tree coming from the bottom right and the twisted tree coming from the left. Because the color of that little gap matches the sunset in the background.

I was just thinking.... That hand doesn't look very childlike.... It does look like Messmer's arm.. what if he thought he took Miquella and he took Messmer instead, or maybe he knew it was Messmer already, and knew he was the only way to reach Miquella... Obviously just what came to mind first but I'd definitely agree that the arm coming from the cacoon doesn't look childlike AT ALL.

Come to think of it, a lot of the other bosses/demigods fit pretty cleanly into Jung’s archetypes. Rani = magician; marika = ruler; frenzied flame/dung eater = outlaw; melenia = caregiver ; Radahn = hero, etc… (Forgive my spelling of the names I know they are all wrong lol)

The quote at the beginning of the trailer clearly tells you he isn’t all loving. He’s got a dark side he’s a manipulator. Not saying he’s not a good guy, I just think he’s capable of doing terrible things for the greater good

"He wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men, there is nothing more terrifying." - guy from the trailer. In my opinion it puts it as Miquella uses his charm for like you said, the greater good. But if the DLC is to be believed, he doesn't have his powers nor does he have his body. He'll need the Tarnished, like Ranni did to defeat Radahn and such. Miquella has assisted many people, and the poorest of all, the Misbegotten. That in my mind, proves that he isn't doing it for A. Money, B. Power, and C. Evil. He isn't gaining anything from helping the Misbegotten, etc.

Griffith wants to build a kingdom- miquella wants to build a kingdom Griffith looks like a boy/girl - miquella looks like a boy/girl Griffith sacrifices his loved ones for power & his dream ultimately becoming a demon lord - miquella sacrifices… The writing is on the wall. It’s honestly right there. He’s going to be a boss and not just any boss he’ll likely be there biggest and most ambitious boss to date at least lore wise. We literally spend the whole base game trying to just find out where he is. This guy was being built up to be the final boss from the beginning. “Out of all the emperyans HE IS THE MOST FEARSOME” MALENIA SAID THAT… THE UNDEFEATED SWORDWOMAN. Miquella is 100% a villain

@@jpnoir4807 Alright, let me explain something very long and annoying. GRRM to an extent worked completely on Miquella from the ground up. Miyazaki might've worked a bit with the Griffith appearance and Bewitching Branch, but it was mostly GRRM. Also, something else to point out is the cocoon. I find it interesting that his quote on quote *egg* isn't an egg. It's a cocoon. That may mean he will assume a moth form, they symbolize sleep and death. Mohglester is more of Griffith due to his communion with the Formless Mother, similar to the God Hand. Miquella has no such communion, not even close. Marika has Griffith thoughts and ideals as well. To call Miquella THE definitive Griffith of this game is dumb. Anyways, back to the GRRM shit. GRRM to my knowledge was the sole contributer to Miquella's history and background, but Miyazaki wrote the current story. So that means, from what we understand, we have no fucking clue. Miyazaki writes the current stuff, gameplay and NPC wise, whilst GRRM made the lore. Not only that, we make it to my favorite point. The Song of Ice and Fire, and other work that Miyazaki loves! So let me give you a rundown of the point of Miquella's reference to The Song of Ice and Fire. A man hosts (ABDUCTS) a small child, to note the man is a bastard born of the Targarian line and has a tree root growing into his eye. (Remind you of somebody?) The other eye is blood red. The man is named Blood Raven, and the boy is ?Bran? I can't remember his name. Anyways, Bran can bewitch people, and see back in time. He is very powerful so Blood Raven and his children of the forest feed Bran blood pourage. His motives are unclear from what I remember. Both Mohg and Miquella are not Griffith, nor is Marika. They just have fucked up motives. Mohg sprouts crow wings in his 2nd phase and throws Blood around, (Blood Raven.) And slathers Miquella's cocoon in blood. Remind you of anything??? Anything??? Like blood pourage???

Imo, it's a ceremony to "kill" godwyn so that he can be properly resurrected.

Remember radahn was holding back the stars. That probably gave miquellas plan for the eclipse, issues. Might be why he sent malenia to fight him. Now that it’s confirmed we have to beat radhan before entering the dlc. It may mean even more so that miquella plan has something to do with reviving Godwyn

Also, most characters in ER aren't inherently "evil". Everybody is just fighting for it's own benefit/world vision, including you, the Tarnished. My bet is if Miquella happens to be a boss, he will have sort of a twisted goal and it's just using you to accomplish it.

Miyazaki said there's no added ending in the base game. That doesn't mean there is no ending in the DLC. Miyazaki himself said that the DLC is a complete, separate story. For all we know, Miquella, with the help of the Tarnished, is able to cleanse the land of shadows and turn the realm into safe haven for everyone, which he failed to do with his Haligtree. Adding the ending for their game trailers is nothing new to fromsoft. The last scene of the trailer may as well be the ending of this DLC: Miquella cleansing the Shadow Tree as depicted by the end of the trailer: unveiled, not bleeding anymore and glowing silver instead of gold- a color associated with the opposition of the Golden Order. The very gold that Miquella himself divested from.

I think it was a mistranslation. I don't think Miyazaki would let out a spoiler like that.

No. Not a chance, at least, not as far as this particular theory goes. Godwyn was the method used to kill the Erdtree. I’d say Marika, Ranni, Radagon and Miquella were all working together but maybe they didn’t all know every part. The half death of Godwyn was supposed to be true death. Ranni may have misled the others and convinced them true death would cause deathblight. They’d believe her because either she or her mother are very closely tied to the GEQ. My money is on Rennala being the Gloam Eyed Queen, or some sort of avatar/aspect situation. Miquella and Ranni may both have known the truth. The intent may even have been for Ranni to go to the Land if Shadow. There’s a million things that went wrong between that night and the present. Also, Radahn was certainly in on the plot. The Black Knives’s magic was developed in Sellia. But anyways, Godwyn’s half death did kill the Erdtree, even though it appears he was buried in a minor Erdtree which supposedly none existed at the time… but the living half now suffers. It was not anticipated. Miquella just wants to end that for him. (For more fun, I almost think Godwyn was also an Omen or born from some other woman that Hoarah Loux had been with prior to becoming lord to Marika. His name was changed when Hoarah Zloux’s was. I don’t think Marika chose Godwyn as sacrifice out of cruelty or spite. He was strong enough, possessed of enough grace, that she would be “forced” to not let his runes go to waste. It would be blasphemy if she didn’t bury him in the Erdtree’s roots. But who would know that his grace had died and become Deathblight? … Grace is living runes, Deathblight is dead runes… which would further account for the lack of Deathblight leaking from the mausoleums, those demigods souls are just absent, not dead….uhhhhh I may have an obsession.) No, these sleepers in the wandering mausoleums are likely to remain anonymous forever. They did not return. Nobody alive knows who they were. Their guards intentionally beheaded themselves so they could never compromise in the protection of their chosen demigod. These zealots even had their skulls permanently bound to the mausoleums. The heads of these soulless demigods were removed, who know to where.. maybe the In breakable chests inside? Even the lineages on the doors are terribly weathered. At best, we may be one of those demigods but I don’t think it likely. Miquella, unable to confer with Marika/Radagon, perhaps tried to make use of Ranni and Melina for scouting or whatever. Maybe it did all work out and he learned enough to go to the Land of Shadows with a solid plan. I dunno, the air is getting pretty thin.

@@ouarhichem1864 I also doubt that messmer will be the final encounter, but to think he is impeding on Miquella's goals isnt out of the question. The line "Mother, wouldst thou truly Lordship sanction, in one so bereft of light" could be referring to the lord that Miquella is waiting on. And then Messmer's other line "Those striped of the Grace of Gold shall all meet death" could be referring to the awaited lord. But the line @Ziostorm mentions "It was to this land that Miquella departed. Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage. Of all things Golden." could include Miquella in Messmer's statement being "stripped of all things Golden"

@@Drahcir361 Exactly, this was my intent when I said Mesmer. I think that it would be kind of cool of Miquella turned out to be our antagonist, just like many people are predicting... And then Mesmer is trying to impede on Miquellas, quest that we all thought maybe was innocent and noble. So through Mesmers intervention, he kind of actually becomes this malevolent character that we can actually get on board with because he is standing in the way of Miquellas negative ambitions. Of course this is just speculation and I think it would just be a kind of a cool situation.

Messmer, mesmerize. Miquella is Radagon's only child without red hair too, which is suspicious to me. It would be terrifying if he manipulated the events of the Lands Between. He would've pretty much sacrificed his whole family taking into account what we do as players outside of Ranni, who still died in body only. So he would make a well written villain, because the playerbase believes he is the "good" demigod.

I want another demigod ally. Miquella would be a cool ally.

How are Miquella and Griffith similar in anyway?

Unless he promised that to his sister so he could keep her close for protection, took all the misfits of society to form his own kingdom to rival the golden order, used Melania until mohg could abduct him, knowing he would be taken and fed power from mohg until he could reach the shadow realm and complete his tree. With a completed tree, that would be the cherry on top to being a true God. I have a feeling miquella is going to be that "I'm a really super cool person until you say no or do something I don't like" just remember, lawful good does not mean lawful nice

Have you ever seen a psychopath? Or, have you ever seen a manipulative person? I doubt he is that good. Is smarter to have people who love you at your side than other kinds of people. Miquella's so manipulative that even Malenia serves him, and she is an empyrean, supposed to bring a new order. I think if it was supposed to be normal, they would have an alliance. So when they got their hands on the great runes, the lore says that Malenia abandoned her pride to meet Radahn's Measure, to be an equal to him. So it means she abandoned her sense of self, and later on, she keeps saying she's the "Blade of Miquella" Finally, the Bewitching Branch says much about his skills.
