FYI: I've seen nurses get ripped off when there is strike negotiations going on. SCABS get paid with huge bonuses and the travel nurses under contract get basically nothing comparitevely. Always make sure the organization is not in contract negotiations during your assignment.

Travel nurse here! That rate is good. I recently came off a contract making over $74hr local. Even with taxes, I took home over 2k per week at only 36hrs/week. I agree that rates are not super crazy like they were earlier this year but they are still decent depending on where you are. I am taking December and January off. That's the true power of travel nursing. The flexibility of picking when and where you work!

Christina - great video! A lot of great information you talked about it. I was wondering if you have a video explaining what nursing specialty you work in? Also, travel nurses are unlikely to work Mon-Fri (40 hours) 5 days. Do travel nurses work 10, 12, 16 hour days? AMs or PMs -- I am thinking many travel nurses get the crappy hours (nights)?

My hospital is getting nurses from the Philippines and we have several now. They are not yet US citizens. My contract is half of what you are getting and I am in Texas.

Texas doesn’t pay. That’s my current home state and left to travel.

This is very low. I’m getting close to that in San Diego right now as an staff nurse. Rates are very low right now.

I wouldn’t consider that low for a travel nurse. As a staff nurse you may make 65 an hour in California or more but you aren’t taking home 6k in tax free stipends. You also have to pay high state income tax in California. Nurses in south make like 30 something an hour as a staff nurse (unfortunately)

Well when you hit the year mark in traveling it will no longer be tax free

In Florida it is I don’t know about other states but at the hospital I work nurses been doing it after there year they say it no longer taxable I can’t speak to everyone

At one point our hospital gave us 5200 for our extra shifts people were making more than travel nurses I made 20k in two weeks . Working every day people went prn so they can work everyday and make bank or at least 4-5 days n be good everywhere is different my hospital paid for years for nurses to do that until the end of oct this year. You can look it up if you stay more than a year with the same company constantly renewing it’s no longer considered temporary therefore it gets taxed in some places .
