The problem is that a fair number of Israeli's defenders are on an Orwellian crack pipe, where any absurd claim an Israeli official makes is treated as evidence in itself, if not fact. Seeing specific claims interrogated, and seeing them weasel and move the goalposts and generally fail to defend their nonsense can help change *some* minds. Not a lot, not by much, but *some* and we need everything we can get.

I haven't seen data on what percentage of Israelis have dual citizenship but I've seen speculation that it can't be more than 15-20% which would make sense since most Israelis today were born there. Most likely their parents as well. Then there are the Jews that immigrated from the Arab world that likely don't still have their Iraqi/Syrian/etc citizenship. Of course that isn't to say that there are not some Israelis that immigrated recently (estimated that 100k settlers in the West Bank are American) but certainly not the majority. I've seen Israeli forums where Israelis with dual citizenship explain that even though they intend to stay in Israel forever, they never saw a need/benefit out of renouncing their second citizenship and that having it couldn't hurt because no matter how safe Israel is, it's still in a volatile region surrounded with countries that want it destroyed so a violent war could easily break out and these Israelis would have an easy escape plan in that situation Ultimately, I still think the Palestinians are the main victims of this conflict and deserve their right to return. I'm just trying to think through things rationally because I hate when people just repeat shit they heard without fact-checking it first. And this type of mentality that assumes all Israelis are religious nuts that believe God gave them this "promised land" is also not helpful. Those people exist, of course, especially in the settlements. But I don't think your average Israeli that was born and raised in Tel Aviv and attends pride parades is reciting scripture; I think for them, they live there simply because they were born there. And I think they are largely ignorant of the Nakba and the current Palestinian plight. All they really know is "those guys don't like us and we don't like them."
