We're getting REALLY close now!
This episode looks at all of the final prep work that we need to do in order to finally give this old girl a try. We'll hook up the new battery, test the starter and the ignition, fill the cooling system, and fill the fuel system too.
You'll see that we run into several challenges along the way with small leaks and things, but we'll solve all of those little issues and keep marching forward to the big day when we finally try to start this engine after over half a century!

Chuck, when I did my 65 OTS fuel system, I rebuilt the pump and cleaned out the sump, then I drained and filled the gas tank up with evaporust full strength as it was black with old gas and tar. Sucked it up through the pump to the bowl up front. Let it sit through the Labor Day weekend, then drained the evaporust flushed with water. The tank looked brand new. Then I filled up the tank with fresh gas to prevent flash rust. Ran it through up to the bowl like you did until fresh gas. Then started and ran great. No leaks. Over the next month or so, I drained daily the particulate that came up in the bowl. It eventually cleared.

Besides the fun of watching you get giddy with each new discovery, the video shows me a lot of important detail about the location of fasteners, clips, wiring, etc that will be useful as I reassemble my not so pristine 66. Thanks.

Looks just like the one I owned back in 1977-though the tail lamps were red not yellow. Paid $900 for it. She’s a beaut!

I’m another member of the $900 E-type club! Bought my 63 in 1975 in quite neglected condition. Had the seats professionally done, did all the body work and paint myself. Great college car.😊

Me too! 😂. I work on it in spurts whenever I can, but work and family does get in the way. But I work on E-Types all day and have a great family, so that’s not so bad… 😉. We’re almost there - I’m very anxious to hear it run!

Hard to see but are you missing the filter in the fuel bowl?

Maybe… we used to sell a push-on little filter for these at the shop when I was a kid, but I do t know if that is a factory thing or not. This car has a very fine brass mesh screen in the top of the fuel filter housing - I think I might have shown that in the fuel pump episode.
