Left Side Paralysis After Stroke: Jim's Recovery Story

In this video, James shares his experience recovering from left side paralysis after a stroke. He suffered a blood clot in his brain in March 2018, which led to a stroke. The stroke left him with complete paralysis on his left side.
James talks about the importance of repetitive therapy for stroke recovery and how the Flint Rehab product helps him achieve this at home. He emphasizes that doing therapy at home as much as possible is key to stroke recovery.
In addition to using the Flint Rehab product, James also goes to outpatient therapy. However, he believes that doing therapy at home is important because it allows him to perform more repetitions than he would be able to do in therapy.
Overall, this video is a great resource for anyone looking for information on left side paralysis recovery after a stroke. James’ story is inspiring and highlights the importance of dedication and persistance in stroke rehabilitation.

You are so Inspiring and I want to Thank you for posting your video. I am still recovering from my Hemorrhagic Brain Bleed Stroke that I had on September 5, 2012. I was in a coma for 5 weeks and the Doctors told my family that I was going to die so my family said goodbye to me 3 times. I was bleeding internally in my Brain and body and the Doctors couldn't figure out why. I woke up suddenly 5 weeks later and was paralyzed from my left side, my eyes were bulging out and I couldn't move them or my head and I couldn't talk. I could understand everything that was being said about me. My head had been shaved and I had tubes coming out of my skull. I remember clearly when the Dr came in and told my family that they needed to realize that I would never Talk, Walk or be Normal again and that I would probably die within a year. I heard myself yell at him "You don't know me! You're Wrong!" I was put in a rehab for a month but I was frustrated because I felt that people were feeling sorry for me and my family would come visit and take pictures of me so I felt like I was in a sideshow of a circus. I fought the people who were trying to help me and I kept telling the Dr I wanted to go home as soon as I could talk which was within a week after I entered the rehab. I was stuck in a wheelchair and when I got home, my husband moved me out of our bedroom and put me in with my 11 yr old daughter. I remember sleeping alot and when I would wake up there was my husband giving me lots of pills so trusting him I took the pills and went back to sleep. I had worked since I was 16 and so at one point I wanted to be alert and be with my children and get back to my normal routine but my husband stopped me and would yell at me and tell me to die already. I was about to give up I wouldn't do anything anymore and just stayed in my daughter's room until one morning I heard a phone ringing and I slid out of bed and onto my wheelchair like my therapist had taught me and I went into the master bedroom and I picked up the phone laying on the bed. I touched the screen and a picture of my husband hugging a woman and smiling appeared on the screen. I was devastated I was married for 23 yrs and I was 42 yrs old and had 4 children with my husband. He came behind me and snatched the phone out of my hand and yelled all kinds of bad words at me and pushed me out of the bedroom and slammed the door. 3 months later I was in the living room and my children were all in school and my husband came out of his room and again told me that I disgusted him that I needed to just die. He walked up to me and yelled at me to look at him but I couldn't move my head up or move my eyes so he put his right hand above my lap and told me to Look at his fingers and as I did my best to look at his hand I had tears welling in my eyes and couldn't see clearly. He said: "On the day of your stroke to me you died on that day and I started looking for your replacement and I have 5 women lined up and deciding who to replace you with". Anger came up inside of me and I with my head stuck downward and sitting in my wheelchair told him "Thank you sam" and he said for what? I said "Thank you because now I am going to fight! Because of your stupidity I will fight for my life now. I was giving up and if you had waited a couple of weeks I would be gone but now I will Not give up and you will never see a penny of my Life Insurance money (I had a $500k Life Ins Policy). I will show you that I am still me and that I am Normal. I understand everything you say and are doing and one day you will regret what you said to me. He secretly divorced me in 2015 after 26 yrs of marriage and took my kids from me and left me on the street homeless and penniless. I spent that year staying with different friends and he moved to New Mexico with my children and married hid Mistress #1. I have worked hard and still working hard on my recovery. Been on my own since November 2015 and in Oct. 2016 I started to force myself to walk using a crutch exercising everyday and fallen many many times. Oct 12, 2022, I got my Driver's license and the next day I started working as a Substitute Teacher and was awarded 2022-2023 SUBSTITUTE TEACHER OF THE YEAR. I still do my own physical and occupational Therapy twice a day and I have been getting different Therapy treatments since 2013. I'm a fighter and I will continue to fight until I reach my goal. My Faith in my Loving Father and Creator has grown more stronger and I give Thanks to him and his son my Lord Jesus Christ for keeping me going. I live alone and I get sad when I think of the past. Seeing you gave me so much encouragement and my sadness left me. You are a strong man and I am Inspired by your will to not give up. Keep going my friend. You will accomplish your goal too with God's help. Pray constantly and he listens to us and helps us to. That's 100% True. I'm proof of that. I went to College in 2016 and I finished top of my Class and I am also writing a Book about my Journey. If you want to contact me by my email I would be happy to hear from you. My name is Nancy Garza and you can find me on Facebook Thank you for sharing your story. May God Bless you Always!🙏

Not getting many answers here or anywhere else, stroke 1 year ago, left side paralysis, in constant pain, frustration, fatigue, c'mon medical fraternity. Can't fix neurulogical disorders with physiotherapy sorry. Closing the gate after the horse has bolted now for me I feel. My grandfather had a stroke when he was 82, forty five years ago he got more help then, than I've had so far. 2021 (twenty first century) still no medical progress? More and more (younger and younger) stroke victims now from what I can gather. They can send irrelevant costly probes to Mars but can't help us.

The finger movements are the real challenge. Wearing a button pouring. Water from bottles to a cup, cutting vegetables, sewing a button etc . Physiotherapy does not help patients in performing the above listed activities 🙁

Repetition is everything after a stroke. So with the hand that is not paralyzed you want to rub the paralyzed arm and hand to stimulate. Opening and closing the hand 1000 reps each day . Moving finger tips and toes 1000 times. Repetition is the key not some device expensive. If you just lay there only do 10 times daily exercises that not going do much. Need stimulate pathways in brain by high number of reps

i got hit by a car when i was 3 years old and i suffer with left sided hemiplegia too, through my early 20s i used to drink and take drugs which worsened the condition considerably, but the substance abuse hasn't had any permanent impact on me and my left arm is far better then it has ever been. reading online documents and using my left hand to scan the mouse over the words that I'm reading helps and also doing 2 different activities with each hand helps too. your looking good, i noticed that you were slouching to the left a bit, i have a tendency to do that to. just don't make a habit of listening to every other idiot with something to say, if you let it get to you it will lead to depression which will reduce the chance of neurogenesis. focus on the progress that your making and compare yourself to how you were yesterday not others.

Therapists always told me post-stroke that there was nothing wrong with my muscles. The problem is in the brain. If I could identify the muscles that I wasn't able to move, I would work them out with help where necessary until I could move them. As he says in video, repetition is key. Martial arts students tell me 11,000 times to competency. You're starting over like a baby and you should be excited when you learn again.
