I was at this concert at Ft. Lauderdale during the summer of 1987. The thing that was so cool, was that at one point, Dean moved over next to Jan on stage so that I could have a picture of both of them. I remember after the concert in a news interview, Dean had said "Some of the people at the concert weren't even born when our songs were on the radio, but they even know the harmonies." If Jan could be here now, I think he would smile at all the joy he gave us!
Awesome video! I'm proud to say Jan was a dear friend of mine and a great guy!!! He will never be forgotten and will always be missed! Memories of fun times can never be taken away. RIP dear friend.
@deanajandeny65 Thank you so much deanajandeny65! I AM truely blessed to have been a close friend of Jan's, he was larger than life and had such a BIG heart! He truely loved and appreciated ALL of his fans!!! Even with his disabilities, Jan still ROCKED up to the very end, and will always be missed!!!
@CSICyn You certainly are blessed to have had Jan as a friend; I'll second that! And he really did love his fans; I had the pleasure of meeting him after one of their shows in 2003--he was kind enough to sign our tickets and record covers and genuinely thanked us for coming to the show. I replied "Thank YOU for coming, Jan!" He will be missed; they don't make 'em like that anymore!
They deserve to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Why hasn't it happened? Snubbing them isn't right. It needs to happen. Brian Wilson should be the one that inducts them too since he worked with them in the early days and wrote Surf City!

This is a cool song. Now this is a great song for summertime. Almost makes me wanna take a trip to Hawaii. I just came across this clip as I was listening to The Beach Boys and was looking for some Jan & Dean songs. This is a great clip :)
Lynn Kanerva - This is the only Jan & Dean song that I recorded... not sure if they did other songs. There were other performers in this show that I also taped (do a YT search... 'Spring Break Reunion Special 1987'). However, I see there is a bootleg dvd available of the entire show. Haven't watched this in awhile. Still think the guys look and sound great here. I thought this before, IDK maybe l'm crazy but it looks like Jan has black mascara &/or eyeliner on, his lashes really show up.
@@lancasterritzyescargotdine2602 No he didn't. Think he should've kept his original hair style, but that's just me. He had so many different looks over the years. Several years ago (when l finally got a tablet, lm technology challenged) l really didn't know what they looked like till l started watching RU-vid. I was a little surprised. I happened to see Jan on Easter Seals telethon on tv in the late 80's like `88?(memory fails).
