I've been a kpop fan since like 2007 and one thing I've learned beyond a shadow of a doubt is that people will absolutely destroy ANYONE who is even remotely popular for their looks (especially international fans). They somehow always believe that people like Sulli, Krystal, Jennie, Hyuna, CL, Wonyoung, Yoona, Seolhyun, Jiyeon, Winter, Karina, Irene etc. are wayyy overrated, and they take it as almost a personal vendetta that those members may overshadow their biases. That, and the "mean girl syndrome" where if someone is pretty and popular, then they MUST be horrible, arrogant and not deserving of their success, even if they're the most hardworking members (being hired for ads, dramas, MC etc.), and often times, for less well known groups, essentially are the reason the group doesn't disband and reaches a decent popularity level. So yeah, Wonyoung is painted as the villain literally because she fits the profile. Someone else will turn up in a year or so, and you won't hear another word of controversy about her again lmao

because she's been in the industry for a while people forget that she's literally still a kid. she joined pd48 when she was 13, and even though she got a lot of fame, there were so many people upset that she won first because they thought she didn't deserve it. that hate got worse when it was announced that produce was rigged, though i feel like it got washed up a bit from devoted wiz*ones. so many people don't take into consideration how she must feel and judge the minute they see something they don't like. imagine being one of the most famous idols at 17 yo and having to be self concious all the time cause god forbid netizens criticise you for standing the wrong way. is she not allowed to be a teenage girl and make mistakes?
The only part I wasn't too happy about with her is when she didn't bow as a thank you in some award shows. However, that's not something unique to her- it's a Korean tradition and sign of respect to do bow to elders and especially when thanking people for a really big deal (like receiving an award), so it is kind of rude in their culture to not do that despite being capable of doing it. But people are starting to find other "issues" with her, that really aren't her fault (i.e. starship's clear favoritism towards her) or aren't even rude (i.e. her not smiling all the time). If it's not something you would criticize a person who isn't an idol for, then it's pretty unfair to do it to her.

How deeply you bow really does matter, its not "fine" just as long as you bow if you don't bow deeply enough. She's not perfect she's anorexic and annoying she's NOT a good model to teens, I look after somebody who are anorexic and it's problematic if they saw people promoting unhealthy lifestyle. To the point where we take their phone and internet away while on treatment.
ok I understand. But how is hating gonna work? Not to forget that they have a whole damn dietician planning for their meals. And who is fucking perfect . We don't need a perfect idol because that's what make the industry more toxic . And if you wanna criticize then criticize her weight , her toxic eating habits , and I myself discourage my friends to make her their role model for their body goals . But hating her for other things doesn't make any sense it's like scolding a kid for breaking a glass when his problem is bad handwriting
@@supercalifragilisticexpialido6 I didnt say I hate her, hate is a strong word rather she's annoying as fuck. She's a 100% pick me girl, plus her attitude is damn rude. She's still a low average singer and idol. She should be just a brand model where she doesn't need to talk or perform, she will just pose and walk. that suits her well.
