New Jeans has the most solid artistic team who has solid visions for what the group is about. MHJ wasn’t allowed to flex her creative muscles by that idol factory called SM. She is given all the freedom in the world now with almost unlimited budget by one of the biggest entertainment company IN THE WORLD (not just in Korea). You don’t have to worry.

Le SSERAFIM has both general public and a loyal fanbase they becoming bigger and bigger everyday is prove of that. They had these worst scandal in Kpop and EVERYONE was attacking them if they didn’t have a loyal fanbase they wouldn’t have made a comeback they would’ve fell off hard. I don't think gen 4 will end next year. Esp with the delay of the pandemic. 2 whole years got wasted and pretty much nothing happened. While it is true that gen 3 has faded, as you say in the video, I don't think gen 4 has properly started yet. Some massive giants have just formed. I think we won't see gen 5 til maybe 2024 or 2025. I’m glad to say that Tokkis, (New Jeans Fandom) are very very loyal. We get bashed for nothing, just like Dives get bashed for nothing. Sadly both fandoms have tiny petty fights. But they are casuals and are simply rivals, in a good way. Twitter, a cursed app ngl, but I see Tokkis defending everyday and get bashed, but they stay strong…and I’m in shock of how much they are currently still holding on. It’s giving me early ARMY fandom vibes…in a good way.

They focused on international promotion, brand deals, ost song, art and video game collaboration, cfs, member solo collaboration with seniors - so that people out of Korea, non or new kpop stans and old kpop stans hear of Aespa and stans get hungry enough to wait for Aespa new music. Now that the new girl group war is near its end and the hype has died down, SM is turning up. Aespa has a new variety show, colab with our queens red velvet, and a new comeback early next year. Black mamba arc also ended so its going to be fun watching a new story for Aespa... I hope the next comeback is a cute celebration song for their victory. ✌️💚 The girls are honestly going to have a very busy year next year. 💯

I think it's Aespa. They're still raw as hell and they've only been together for 2 years. And Giselle definitely is the most green because she only trained under SM for 10 months. That's nothing in terms of training for vocals. All of Red Velvet trained for 5 years and for an additional 3 years together before they debuted. And they weren't even supposed to debut in 2014. Irene said they would've probably debuted in 2016 but because of the controversies in SM they were thrown out there. Giselle just needs to train more on her own free time, which is very little.

I think for Girl Groups - Aespa and Billlie will lead. Billlie has a more uphill battle but these girls will grow HUGE with time - they have the very good vocals, the strong rap skills, the whole group can dance killer level and they are all visuals - no rookie girl group can touch Billies all rounder level - no one. They also have a good discography with heavenly b side songs. They also have great team spirit, friendship and chemistry. They can do every concept just like their seniors Red Velvet and their styling is very on point and fair to every member. They also slay live performances. Plus Mystic Story being an SM subsidiary means Billlie will get that promotion even if SM does not interfere much with subsidiary, they will pay attention to Billlie cause they just have a golden group here - there is no way in hell SM will ignore a group with so much money making potential lol. Mystic Story does very well on its promotion of Billlie too. Once Billlie goes as a group on a survival show like Queendom, they will grow very big... similar to how gidle grew in popularity after Queendom. They just need one chance and they will grow huge!
I would argue the opposite. SM factory model with mainstream media as its tentacles is outdated. The fact that idols are still allocated positions to “rap” when all they could do is talk singing (that’s not rap by the way), and you are still discussing “visual” (WTF is that anyway? Good visual for you may be terrible for me so how can that even be allocated as a role?) illustrate my point. It may work for China, which WAS his main target before he saw how big BTS manage to become in the US and globally. But the bigger world outside kpop can sense an old greedy man whose focus is the bottom line and not music behind every song and performances. I think 3rd Gen is a different breed compared to 2nd. No one is taking over from 3rd Gen, they would just grow up and matured as the 4th start their journeys. The only 3rd Gen groups that will survive beyond the usual span of life of a kpop group is the ones who can go beyond it. You can’t be 50 years old and still be fighting for votes and doing the musical show rounds. Also, in kpop you can not over state the groups themselves without considering their companies. If SM decided that a group is going to THE group for that time, then they will, with the help of music shows and award shows. The only real measure sometimes is how much money fans are willing to throw at a group. (But without company manipulation. Like how SM told the fans of a certain group that LSM has bought from another company only to destroy so EXO doesn’t have a competition. SM told the other group’s fandom to buy EXO’s albums instead, or else, they will never see their fave coming back ever. The fandom did as he threatened, and their fave was put in the dungeon to die anyway. But I digress)

I really hope that some more co-ed groups debut, it would match the public interest with strong fanbases, but I think it could only be done in a certain way or it will fail, dating rumours, broken fanbases and drama will be rampant, so its a very big risk, and I'm not sure companies know how to handle the genderless-ness of a coed group, because they usually rely so heavily on sex appeals and industry standards of what bgs or ggs are supposed to look and act like. also because of how capitalist all these companies intentions are, i dont think they'll be willing to take the risk bc it wont immediately be profitable.
And then there's nct dream and nct 127. Both 3rd gen groups, but many people thought they are 4th gen. Especially dream cause they are similar in age with most 4th gen groups.

so this is my opinion. Itzy, I-dle, IVE, nj and Lee sserafim have a stable balance between fanbase and general public. The kpop groups keep debuting on and on taking places of other groups which is very dangerous. gen 3 was a really fun time but now we are moving on to gen 4 which is basically a rollercoaster. Boy groups are dying which is sad to see.. we need to make gen 4 balanced and stable because we want kpop to still be here!

Aespa is now preparing for their first ever sold out concert in Jamsil indoor arena for 2 days this coming Feb 25 and 26, a total of 22k spectators and will soon embark their Japanese arena tour this coming March and will become the first 4th gen kpop girl group to hold a concert in a 37k capacity venue at the Super Saitama Arena for 2 days with spectators of more than 60k.

4th gen boy groups are gonna continue to fall until companies stop trying to catch the "next BTS" bag. It's getting too obvious atp. The creativity is seriously lacking and a lot of the music is inconsistent. Boy groups music has always been diverse, its just that the public really likes a group with cute members in it. No other gg can top bg's when it comes to ballad and hip hop tho. No hate, but SKZ gotta get their b side game up before they lead anything. They are just really figuring out their lane and musically have a long way to go. Stays also need to promote the songs as much as they promote the personalities to get the good songs to the forefront because rn people have to search through the music to find the gems and if the album's aren't flawless people are going to lose interest as quickly as they gained it.

I don’t understand the idea that you have to “move on” from a group you like. I’ve been liking Cold Play and Bjork for 20 years. Yessss I am old. I don’t have to move on to newer artists if I don’t like their music? The kpop market is saturated. So if groups started dying then it is just things finding its own equilibrium. It is like natural selection. If there is saturation globally, wouldn’t it be worse if they focus only domestic Korea? Also, I would argue that your “special boy group” theory won’t work for as long as the market is as saturated as it is now, and for as long as SM continue to SM (Hello NCT perpetually growing units like a virus more than a musical group. Like Super M WTF was that “Avengers of Kpop” cringe whatever that was). Anyways. BTS in their prime? They haven’t even reached their prime yet. My prediction for 4th Gen and further: SM’s model will “fall off”. YG is going to continue to be misogynistic and rely on the legacy of G-Dragon and Blackpink with Teddy hammering out the same old shit in the style of McDonald’s: Crap, but buyers can take comfort in predictably in an unpredictable world. JYP will take a page from his friend’s note, Bang PD, and adapt. Other companies backed by giants, like Starship which is owned by Kakao and Melon, will rise. With kpop going global more big companies would want to acquire kpop companies. With kpop increasing audience, Kpop will branch out. One branch will be the usual mass produced predictable assembly line factory like production kpop. The other will be more “experimental” (experimental for kpop at least, because J-Hope’s MORE is not experimental, that is just good music. But kpop thinks that is “experimental”).
I feel like it will be between 3 groups; LE SSERAFIM, New Jeans and Aespa. You can also consider G-idle and IVE in the conversation but the first 3 that I've mentioned have the potential to really top the 4th gen hill, though I do not expect them to reach TWICE x BP levels of stardom but we'll see but if I have to choose one group, I feel like New Jeans has the potential and that's mainly because of their concept and sound. I just feel like I haven't heard that kind of music on any groups, even my non-kpop friends knows Ditto, OMG and Hypeboy lol.
Ive has sold more than lesserafim and Aespa in their debut year, even though they don’t come from a big company, they’re topping the charts alongside new jeans. As a blink, it’s pretty clear that I’ve and new jeans are the 4th gen leaders
The 4th Gen are good indeed and the competition, the high competition can also be drive to let them be more competitive and on their way to become better. But the problem is their company, for their greedy-ness of money that will ruin the idol themselves too, and also can ruin the wole kpop industry. Also on the other hand the hight standard led to unrealistic standard especially in their beauty standard. Also as mentioned (in the video) the high standard or quality can somehow ruined the music, like now adays most of the songs are hard to feel them. Anyways The 4th gen really has the potential to over win the 3rd gen but that will kinda take abit time(in my opinion), because the 3rd Gen, they have this kind of feeling linger in kpop fans and also the 4th gen somehow feels different than the 3rd gen, they kinda looks like they debuted for business. ill get my opinion straight while watching this video, 4th generation wouldnt be the best, it still has problems we gotta admit, and just as im watching the video one of the problems is said, they get big fast, and they dip in profiting and popularity even if a little problem happens, it happens in every music industry, but in this gen, its like they're on thin ice the whole time. And the groups of earlier 4th gen that are still going strong, are the safe-play for companies, like SKZ, or NCT, you name it. And another problem i think is, companies debut too much groups for them to sustain, overwork the whole company, and then question why is this happening. And the main 4 boy groups, SKZ, Ateez, TXT, and Enhypen, are the groups that genuinly good right now, but are stuck in the loop-hole of "we have good/unique concepts, but we are made to make trendy stuff, to stay afloat". NCT has a problem of too much members, and trying to target outside of Korea, and the music is basically becoming underground, too experimental imo.
Very good video, agreed in many points, but where did you get the ideia that BTS is slowing down? That ain't it lol SUGA himself said that he wants to keep on with BTS for more 20 years, BTS is not slowing down anytime soon. Great video tho.
Slowing down ≠ disbanding. BTS is slowing down because, as the members said, they kinda lost the direction when it comes to group music AND of course the military service plays a huge part. 2023 and 2024 will be the first years in kpop since 2013 without BTS' comeback (and since 2017 their comebacks always were HUGE esp in Korea, the only exception was YTC). BTS simply won't be there for 2-3 years and so many things can happen during BTS' disappearance (just look how NewJeans became phenomenon in just 6 months). I think this is what the author of the vid meant by slowing down
Agreed. Plus, I like Aespa and Giselle and Karina still need more time to really get ready. They should've been made to train hard for another 2 years before debuting because Karina only got a year and Giselle only had trained for 10 months. Irene and Wendy had to train for over 7 years hard before they even got to debut. Aespa's still too young and raw for me to fan over them yet.
