A red card for departing number eight Jasper Wiese was not enough to dampen Leicester Tigers’ mood as they sealed a 40-22 triumph over Exeter Chiefs, who missed out on a place in the Premiership play-offs.
If based on the lift and drive into the ground alone, it seems harsh. But in combination with the deliberate shoulder to the ribs, it's nasty. Perhaps the 6 game ban takes historical into account also...?
I’m sorry now but that’s like the saga around sexton getting a 3 month ban for arguing with ref and others ! Before the World Cup, I could say the panel was 100% South African !!! Any excuse to blame us Irish for one of yer players being a gob shite 😂😂😂😂😂
@@user-je9rz1rt9dno, you’ve got it upside down. Sexton walked around after the referees bad-mouthing them and received 3 match ban. Soft and bias. Rassie tweeted about bad reffing, 1 year ban from rugby. World Rugby is compromised.
@@MrTomkzn oh sure look Ronan o gara is always in trouble with being banned pitch side !! My point being you can’t say the world panel is Irish because a player did a stupid thing! Or as I said the panel was SA for sexton ban or when they make decisions like sending Owen Farrell to tackle school knowing he just doesn’t know how to tackle! I really think it’s the luck of draw when getting punished!!
6 match ban for that. What a joke. There must surely be a few irish on the panel that decided the ban haha. Irish tour to SA already without kitsi, willemse and jasper
Dickson is the worst ref in the Prem - this was a clean clear out, and a 6 week ban beggars belief. The commentators were also completely over the top, no red mist, just clearing out the player. It's been a blast Jasper, good luck with your next team, and a different group of referees...
An end to his time at Leicester and a 6 game ban so that he misses the Springbok games? Surely this should be appealed - it's a joke. It would be laughed at in WWF/WWE fake wrestling!! Penaly at most, possibly a yellow.
You cannot be serious! A red card over this. I've witnessed boys playing rougher at a ten year old boys birthday party! Apologies! I keep forgetting this is the new improved version of Rugby Union.
Wonder what 'some' commentators would have made of that had it been a 'certain' Englishman ... (one who has not had 4 reds in 6 seasons either). I think mitigation in punishment would have brought it down to 3 or 4 matches - but his previous has worked against him here.
His intentions were clear. The fact that he didn't cause too much damage as he somewhat battled picking the other player up, is irrelevant, as his intention was to hurt that player. His track record also doesn't help him.
@@nicobr00 So because I have an opinion that differs from yours, you want to make it personal. Oh Good Heavens, what a special place and world you must live in, in your mind! Let's agree to disagree!
@@kaalvoet You are out of touch with reality boet. Mocking the OP because he doesn't agree with you is not the same as coming close to explaining how this action is considered acceptable under the current protocols. Even as a South African watching this live, I had zero confusion about what was about to happen, and no not because Jasper is South African or any other bullshit like that. It's not rocket science - you can *not* tip a player past the horizontal and drive him head first into the ground and expect to get away with it. The head is off limits and has been for years! And if you are suggesting that you actually play rugby and think this is okay, then I believe you may have had one too many hits to the head yourself...
@@PoweroftouchThat was not even a card there was no degree of danger in fact no danger at all. If that is a card Ballet is probably more physically intense.
Started off playing Rugby League at 8, Union at 11 and finished off at 35. Played on several continents and Pacific Islands, I've fractured a leg and had my 'voice changed' in one game from 'Bass to Falsetto'. It's a rough sport, though in modern times I believe many of the sofly sofly law changes have made the game more dangerous, rather than commit to a tackle, players hesitating are causing incidents which were rarely seen. Having said that, I thought Jasper's tackle to be about as deplorable as I've seen on a rugby field. Old school rucking used to be bad, I've been stamped on, kicked and gouged but lifting someone upright and dropping them on their head is about as bad as it gets.
Why do you need to quote your credentials? You’re a normal bloke like the rest of us on here. Only difference is most of us are going wtf are you talking about, he’s lifted him all of 40 cm and he’s hardly made contact with his head. No 20 coming in from the side is more dangerous than Wiese’s actions. Stupid of Wiese to give the tmo an opportunity to make a call. Red card pffff ok sure. But 6 week ban? Are you mad?
Really? They should stop letting refugees into the UK... I don't have any other explication for these referees and rugby administrators in the UK... 🤦🏼♂️
Its a clear red. You will never get away with this especially in modern day rugby with things in slow motion. Wiese should know better. Once you lift a player like that tipping in. You just asking for trouble
