Thanks Sam!! This sounds like it'll be well worth it for the low cost. I understand wear and tear may be a problem, but I'd worry more about that if it was a $40+ board game.

Good explanation except I would have shown what happens when the shark successfully atacks the boat sections and the bonus attack he gets when a character is in the water.

That sounds like a nice theme for TOP compilation. Games with 2+ acts that work differently.

It reminds me of the World of Warcraft boardgame. The players go on quests to level up their characters before they fight the evil overlord. But you don't need to change boards to fight the final boss.

Games already clearanced at Target for $15. A blast imo, especially at that price point.

@@amusement420 Oof... The website had it clearanced for a while too but I just went onto the website to grab a link for you but it's full priced again. Sorry. If my target still had some in stock I'd offer to mail it to you, but er only had 1-2 to begin with.

I know it's been a few months, but I just bought the game online for $11.99 and was able to do an an in-store pick up at my local Target. And they also have a Buy 2, Get One Free deal going on now, too.

For me, this game was just okay. It didn't feel like the two acts worked that well together, with the shark always dominating the first act, but then not really getting any advantage for the second act. In the games I've played, the second act always came down to the wire and the hunters always won. I felt like this shouldn't happen if the shark did well in the first act. Additionally, the second act really did last too long for me. So, this game wasn't for me, but I'm glad you liked it, and it seems like a lot of people like it a lot too.

Dead on about the tokens and cards. I wish there was a way to get either a premium quality edition or to get a set of acrylics and plastic cards. The game itself is often found for $15, so I guess you could buy a couple backups, but the game is fun enough that I would certainly be willing to spend a bit more on a premium or collector's edition.

I like the game a lot- but others seem to like it if they like hidden movement games AND like the movie "Jaws." Otherwise it's just an ok game.

Components are cheap, but the game is also only $30. At that price point it was an insta-buy for me.

Saw this game and noticed the box is sealed the same way as Villainous. Is the tape easier to remove on this, or is it ALSO a lost cause?

ccggenius12 Funnily enough I bought this game at the same time as I bought The lastest villainous expansion. So let me say... it’s easy to remove but the left over adhesive makes it a lost cause imo.

The card quality was the worst part of the game, IMO. Paper towels are made of thicker paper than those cards. I still liked the game for my local game night. I think of it as Fury of Dracula ( Light), but no way on the scale of FOD.

I've played this game with 2 players many times and it's great. It streamlines the game a bit and makes it a little shorter since theres only 1 person controlling all of the shark hunters. Definitely in my 2 player rotation.

This sounds kind of like the _Aliens_ board game from Leading Edge (way back in 1989). Modest component quality, but an easy-to-play design and a better movie tie-in than you would expect it to be.

Great review Sam! Also enjoyed you playing with your kids during Gen Can't🤠 One thing you didn't really emphasize are the Shark's special 1 time abilities in both ACTs, which can be a game changer for the Shark😬 Lastly, I don't mind the pacing of the game whether drawn out or not. To me, that aspect really immerses you into the movie. I mean JAWS is not a normal shark, it's almost supernatural what he did to the Orca. That said, the second ACT gives the humans the ability to change the original course of events, but regardless, especially if you are a fan or super fan of the film, everyone is in for an epic ending conclusion😎

All the Target exclusive games will suffer from component quality. Real shame! but was easily seen in the Pandemic change. We need a gamer's version to be released.

Ravensburger needs to step it up with their components. I have this same wear issue with several of their games.

I feel this is possibly linked to their deal with Target. Target probably requires a certain price point and likely pays them a good deal of money for that short term exclusivity deal. To reach that price point, and possibly to meet printing quantity deadlines for Target as well, they probably have to downgrade their components. At least with their most recent games.

Honest Word i own horrified. The card quality is low, but get touched only once a game. The items are heavy and seem to be standing up well. Other than that the monsters are in plastic.

I'd be concerned about the percentages behind that. From what I've seen of the components, that change probably favors the humans.

Or, every 8 mins (or whatever increment seems appropriate), take away a random part of the boat and do 2 damage to the shark. Call it fast-forwarding.

Same price point for poor quality, no need to buy Ravensburger games. No matter how good a game is, if it breaks down after only a few plays, it's not worth it.
