Thanks for all the research. My dad had been talking about Jeanette and Nelson and their movie Rose Marie for the longest time - he's in his 80s now. I was watching Sweetheards on TCM and they were so natural that I thought their acting was remarkable. When I googled Jeanette I came across your youtubes. A tragic yet touching love story.

I would much prefer a good documentary...I love and respect Jeanette and Nelson too much to see actors play their roles. It's also hard enough with the Crown series...I am looking forward to reading the book Sharon Rich wrote. I know from her appearances on You Tube etc. that her heart is in what she wrote, and thank her for all she does to help us know this gifted couple better.

The book is kind of pricey...Thankfully my library has it and I plan on reading it this summer once school is over. Very excited! I now this is a controversial topic because people have doubts and I still do, but I've never wanted a story to be more true. I really hope that this story is accurate because their chemistry is undeniable. I hope the book will let me take away that little shadow of a doubt.

I have always loved these two ( I have some of their 78's) It is sad that they were not able to have a life together, I dunno who you can blame, but maybe it is not necessary to fix any blame? I actually have MORE respect for these two than I did before, and this book is NOT am expose like the Kitty Kelly crap, it is just a story of two great singers/ actor-actresses that loved each other deeply!

@ 5:18, you say that Gene Raymond refused to sign off on reissues of Jeanette's recordings. As a collector of classical recordings, I have several reissues of their RCA LP's from the late 1950's, 60's and 70's through to official CD recordings. Nelson of course changed recording labels in 1938 from RCA to Columbia and then in the 1960's to Everest Records. I have many reissue LP's of these also. You really need to check your 'facts'.

M j D, she said "for a long time" (and she didn't elaborate on just how long that was), not the entire time Gene Raymond survived Jeanette.

It's called curiousity. It's not a good excuse, but it is what it is. As Sigmund Freud once said, "All behavior is purposeful." An artist's private life can fuel their creativity. So, to the artist intimately, is to understand why they things they did on screen, on a musical album, on the canvas, on the page and so on... And to answer your second question, yes, people's lives are boring and that's why they pry into others. It's not just stars, it's every yenta in the workplace and the block.
