Interview with Unbaptized Publisher that realized at an early age that being one of Jehovah's Witnesses was not in his DNA. He speaks about having to tow the Watchtower line having a father that was an elder. But, how things took a turn for the better once his parents divorced.
Chris speaks quite candidly about his experiences as an unbaptized publisher. Although not being baptized, he still kept with all of the Watchtower policies thus living the experiences, he knows what it was like first hand.
He speaks about going to college and how he was able to finance his schooling. Chris is definitely a wise person and as he states, he's in search of knowledge, he speaks like a person that has definitely acquired a lot.

Being an elders child is the worst thing that can happen to a child.

But being adopted by a preacher of the gospel of Jesus was the greatest thing in my life, because the Creator's love for one another was modelled to me! Besides my dad, who was old school and had a loving mother and lost her on his 8th birthday and was a humble man, Canadian white culture is NOT what you guys share about love in your Black families! At college, I was embraced by Hispanic people and loved me as one of their own. What a treat to listen to you guys! Hope Chris comes back again!

What he says about the impoverished communities and religious organizations is true. Difference is that most of those organizations OTHER than the Watchtower Organization are actually providing PRACTICAL help to those places.

For 27 years of attending conventions and assemblies, I think every convention had a part strongly discouraging college and university attendance.

Actually, also here in Philippines they discourage education but my mom did her best for us her children to have an education in college. The whole congregation is envious and pissed of mom. When I attend the meetings, I know that I don't belong. They always bully me every after sessions in kingdom s hall saying I'm far, have curly hair...they look into my weakness and imperfections so that they feel high on themselves and especially about my college degree

In 1974 while attending the The University of Alberta I had a Sociology professor who was an American. He said that in 1962 the population of Canada was equal to the population of African Americans. Yet more African Americans had university degrees than Canadians.

I feel sorry for the kids they take away their will . They are even abusing the people spiritually because they preach and teach things that the Bible does not teach. People should check every single thing that they teach in their “aid books “ many things are just garbage, that’s why they don’t allowed people to preach and teach people with the Bible along, because they love to control and abuse people with their own ideas, not with the healthy teachings of God...
@barbarahills6037

It is just a control trip! That’s all what it is... Uneducated people won’t ask them any question regarding what they do with all the money they collect at a monthly basis; or why their light is not “bright some times “ Lol. Jehovah’s light is always bright but if you go with your own light, obviously you are going to be wrong. And that’s exactly what they are doing and when things get out of their hands, they cover themselves or excuse themselves with the “light been not bright “ Come on !! The Holy Spirit will never teach wrong things John 16:13; John 14:26. The demons teach things that are not true and twist the scriptures in order to control and mislead people Revolution 12:9; 1 Timothy 4:1

@@arthurbarnes8390 Thank you, just wish it didn't take losing my dad to wake up. Wish he and I and my brothers had woken up before he got sick. I look back and there were things he and I talked about that I now realize were him waking up but like the rest of us I believe he loved my mom and his family and didn't know how to get out without being left alone and depressed and he dealt with depression, ptsd and anxiety already from things he went through from birth to the age of 8 at the hands of his biological mother who was not a witness but would kidnap him from his dad who was given full custody after she left him. My grammy is the one who raised him after that and was the first one to become a witness and raised him and his siblings, she was bio to all 3 of his younger siblings, as Jehovah's witnesses and then my mom and her foster mother and foster father were all witnesses as well as their two biological children. Most of my dad's aunts, uncle's and cousins and their children were all witnesses as well. So by the time myself and my siblings and cousins were all born there were so many in the organization, the few that didn't become JW we weren't allowed to be around outside of family gatherings so we never got to know them at all and we were taught they would be destroyed in Armageddon so we never built any feelings of love towards them or only did so superficially so that we wouldn't feel anything when they were destroyed. It is a sick way to be made to think and feel and I thankfully have been able to get to know better the members who aren't JW and have had to learn to be ok with losing everyone else. It's not easy but I'm getting there. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend, sorry for the Ramblin on and thank you for your kindness. :)

Bryan Brown, Congratulations!! Seems there has been an exodus since the pandemic. The pandemic set things in motion for folks to start leaving. Well, I'm sure you'll get lots of advice, so here's my 2 cents: find a passion, something you've longed to do but felt guilty about as a JW, while maintaining your values, and you'll be fine. Your passion(s) could be one of a gazillion things, like painting, volunteering, learning a musical instrument, joining a hiking group, self-improvement, etc. Whatever floats your boat. You get involved in something and hold strong to your values. You don't have to be in a cult to hold true to your values. Now, go and live your life for real.

When it comes to black people if you’re not black just be quiet and yes I’m PIMO. If you’re black well you need to take a look at the injustices most black women endure from colorism in the org and society. #BreonnaTaylor

My name is Chris too. I’m from Wilmington NC. I raised partially by grandmother who’s been a witness for nearly 50 years. Around 12 I moved in with my father who wasn’t a witness and it changed my perception of the organization from the rare times i would still go visit when I would be with my witness side of family whenever I visited them. I woke up at 17 from when I went to an assembly with my mothers side of my family. The teaching of Daniel 2 really had me feeling like I was being brainwashed. I felt the fear mongering stronger than ever. I never got baptized so my witness side of my family my grandmother my aunt and two cousins are still in it. They have always been accepting of me. Which I’m thankful for cause I love them. The lost of my mom and the fact that my parents weren’t married always gave me room to be myself and still respect everyone’s beliefs without the pressure of being baptized.

Sorry about your Mom. Thank you for acknowledging that moving in with your father helped change your perception. So many times I hear that born-ins that stay are just stupid. It is infuriating. Well, some of us do not have any family out of the religion/cult and are incredibly sheltered. If someone is out, they are disfellowshipped and we are not allowed to talk to them, and they for sure can't tell us the truth about JWs. It takes an incredible amount of abuse, plus a little window opened by the internet to get us on the right path. Thanks again. That acknowledgment felt so good to me. Good luck to you.

I am so glad that you were able to see through all the FOG. FEAR, OBLIGATION AND GUILT. I truly wish you success in life and hope that you believe in the resurrection. Religion as a whole is a business. Being a spiritual person is what God appreciates. Everyone has to work out their OWN SALVATION.
@kirstenornelas881
@kirstenornelas881 3 года назад
@@tammyg8031 Thank you for your kindness, I no longer believe in religion at all. Too many discrepancies within the Bible itself and I cannot reconcile the fact that God is supposed to be this all knowing, loving being and yet allows suffering to prove his mightiness. When in reality, if he truly existed, suffering and death would not be necessary and he would possess the power to put a stop to it all without causing any pain whatsoever. I hear the argument that he gives us free will, the only problem with this argument is that God is supposed to be all powerful which means he has the ability to remove that part of our consciousness and reasoning and we would all be perfect, living in perfection and nobody would know if we did or didn't have free will. I cannot reconcile the fact this so called great flood occurred where all but the "chosen ppl" were destroyed but this didn't count as the reset that was promised and didn't return humans to perfection as promised. I do not want to celebrate and worship a being that has the power to just say poof and everything is perfect, no pain, death, destruction, no earthquakes, tornados or any other destructive natural disaster... instead this God just sits up there getting some type of pleasure or at the very least entertainment from watching this go on. If you look at the beginning of the Bible, the beginning of the story of our beginning as humans, and use logic you can truly see this story for what it truly is, a good story. God created heavens and earth, God creates man and gives man a woman. An angel ticks God off by challenging his almighty status and the ability of man to keep from buying into a new leadership. This made God angry and he argued that his two brand new humans, think of the ability a toddler has to understand the concept of manipulation and how to not be manipulated, these two humans were basically toddlers in the since that they had only been alive for a very short time and hadn't learned very much at that point. So God took the bet, he threw the angel to the earth to see if he could in fact trick the human subjects into believing him instead of standing firm. The angel lost no time in approaching the humans and won the bet. God was furious at losing this bet but instead of just getting rid of the angel, the two humans who disobeyed and starting over again God decides his heavenly tantrum was more important than doing anything the logical way. So he instead makes a declaration that from that point forward humans would procreate and keep filing the earth but they would now suffer for some indefinite amount of time until he feels better about the betrayal of the first set of humans. He even went so far as to actually interfere in humans wars in the Bible days, according to the scripture, going so far as to command directly the mass genocide of men, women, children, making sure they didn't leave behind even the infant, the animals ect. I cannot worship God and logically reconcile the fact that we are expected to show love and kindness to each other and these commandments were given by this being who didn't even follow the same commands. It just makes me sick to think about it all too deeply. I'm sorry I went off on a ramble, I just wanted to share my thoughts and in no way am I being disrespectful to your belief system I simply cannot believe in it myself for these reasons and much more. Take care hun and please don't be upset i mean no disrespect and am not trying to tell you what to believe either :).

Hey JT and lady C I would love to share my experience. I was disfellowshipped twice the first time I wanted to leave. The second time I didn’t, when the elders met with me I had done everything to show that I had repented. I even appealed the decision. What I didn’t know was the first committee briefed the second committee. I was thinking at the time of the meeting that if Jehovah is overseeing this meeting why are they making this decision. Especially if Holy Spirit is governing it. They said just look at it as discipline. Lastly, they asked if I felt the decision was fair. I said if I say no I look unrepentant if I said yes then I’m lying. It was a catch 22. They even admitted that they were made a mistake so I said the decision had not been announced so change it. They said it’s too late because they had sent it to the society. Now I see that Jehovah isn’t backing the this organization and they did me a favor unknowingly. But I made so many bad decisions in my life based upon teachings of this organization. You are right the most valuable thing you lose is Time. I’m now closer to Jehovah than when I was in the organization. And I have personally seen how he is helping me more now that my eyes are open. If you want to interview me I would love to share the whole committee experience and provide more details about how the whole ordeal was a joke but while I was in the organization I couldn’t see it.

Remember how as a kid, we were discouraged and prevented from honing any natural talent you had, which would have made you world famous? But JWs are the first people to name drop superstars who used to be JWs or were raised as JWs? Like, "Serena Williams, did you know she was raised as a JW?" "That actor who recently won an Oscar, did you know he was raised as JW?" "That guy who holds the world record for blah blah blah, did you know he grew up in The Truth?" "That popular star in the sport of so-and-so, did you know he used to study the Bible with JWs?" Like, they are always proud to name-drop famous people who are or had any slight affiliation to The Truth, but would slap down any of their kids who admires or aspires to be like that, or had any natural abilities that would make them famous. But when your congregation would have a get together, and you show glimpses of your impressive talent, thenr everyone is wowed and surprised at how you can dribble and dunk so fast, or paint, or play the violin so well. Duh, it's because I've been honing this talent alongside worldly peers whose fierce competitiveness actually made my skills become way better. If I only hung out with you folks, I would really sook at life in general, because you people are a sorry bunch of losers whose individual claims to fame are being the most judgemental brother or the most nosey sister or the kid who'd be the first to snitch on me for hanging with "worldly" people. Yet whenever the congregation is having a little game at a recreational gathering they always want you on their team , BUT also want you to only stay useful at this level, kiddo, never go professional. All of your natural talents should be directed only towards working for Watchtower and the brothers, and nothing else. Thanks to this religion, some young brothers could have been retiring as a Hall of Famer by now. Some sisters could have sold record albums. Some of us could have been the next big thing here or there. Instead, years were spent rejecting "the things of the world," while they had no qualms about name-dropping famous names who actually left to chase those dreams. (Regrets, man, regrets 😔)

They expect you to answer that you are a drug addict, alcoholic, prostitute, been divorced multiple times, become a criminal, etc. They are SHOCKED when you tell them how good you are doing or how happy you are. And their mind can't believe you are doing well, because it conflicts with what they've been told at the Kingdom Hall, so they think you are lying. It is really sad.

I’m glad I left at a very young age , which allowed me to do many things in my life that I would never have done as a witness particularly the career I chose in film and acting.

Thank you so much for this video!! I, too, was an unbaptized publisher (my mom was a full time pioneer, so I was pulling in pioneer hours, as an unbaptized publisher. Lol). I moved to my (non witness) father's house at the age of ten. I am 37 now, but up until a year or so ago, I still felt that witness guilt (holidays, birthdays... etc). It's crazy how much control a man-made organization can have over people's lives!

This really has little to do with it,but what helped me to move on after leaving,it was brought to my attention that a man named Johannes Greber had a lot of influence with the doctrines of the cult (Watchtower).I have only been out since Oct only been following youtubers since Aug.Thank you SO much for your channel ♡♡

This was a very interesting video having an unbaptized publisher on. I was also an unbaptized publisher but was not born into the organization. For those not born into the organization there are things that make it even harder to shed the guilt and programming. For me it took decades to truly get mentally away from the teachings after leaving them.

Lady Cee, bravo for your mom. If I'm not mistaken, she's still a Witness, but listening to you through the years, she seems like a great lady. She raised you not to be too stuck up, you weren't falling apart trying to reel in a man (thus JT was even more attracted), she taught you that a real man should have a real job (not like some of them loafing about at Bethel) and you were even encouraged to work a good, fulltime job. If moms is still in, I hope she gets out soon.

Great job Chris! 🙌💪👊 Thanks for sharing your story with us! This heartfelt and encouraging video is going to wake a lot of people up! I'm always excited and happy whenever I hear success stories of ExJWs and our "Unbaptized Youths" because the organization has all negative stories of people who leave the organization and they never mentioned anything positive. The fear really works, but now with the great equalizer, the internet WT/GB has met their match! Stay strong and keep us proud! 🎶🎵💃💃💛💚💜

This video reminds me so much of my exit after a short stay (3yrs) with the JWs ... after I heard a "talk" on the Dangers of Independent Thinking, which made me wonder if I was in a cult or something. The 2nd BIG Red Flag, was seeing that the local kingodm hall was so cliqueish and NOT the "spiritual paradise" that the magazines talked about.

Chris, I can't tell you how much I enjoy listening to you talk. You have a far larger vocabulary than most people whose speech or writing I've been subjected to and you use those words correctly. With my having grown up in congregations that had Ministry School counselors who couldn't pronounce the word pronunciation nor recognize the difference between a sentence fragment and a complete sentence I was better qualified than the counselors as a girl of 13. Of course, as a girl, I couldn't do anything other than accept their counsel. I could listen to you for hours and hours.

I’m happy I left. I tried to fade, but my elder grandfather and my kind uncle kept asking questions. I tried to stay in touch and after I told my (baptized) dad that I joined the USCG he wasn’t too upset he was kind of proud that I made a decision in life finally at 26. I am now 28 and DF’d I messed up when I told my uncle thinking his reaction would be like my fathers. But I feel like I have a freedom now to get my life together as a man benefits, money, the feeling of doing well for society and people, and the ability to live a simple, but happy life with some stability. Yes I do feel a little haunted by their judgmental Ideas and never ending circular way of thinking that holds the minds of many, but I feel great about my decision. It was really holding me down and stunting my growth as a man (so to speak) especially money wise and somewhat mentally.

This interview was so encouraging. I pray that more and more young people will truly began to question the doctrine of JW, so much is not bible based- just a group of imperfect men creating their own narrative for their own glory. My youngest daughter never took to the JW because she questioned so much about the teachings. The tribulation and armageddon just gave her nightmares as a child. Since we disassociated she let us know she had started looking into JT and Lady Cee a couple of years back. That's why she even stopped going to memorial past two/three years. She never let us know about this until we disassociated . We have a closer relationship now.

I faithfully attended the local Kingdom Hall for 2 yrs. Had twice weekly Bible study. I was an unbaptized publisher. While I was there, I saw that most couples were choosing to wait to have children until paradise. I asked an older woman in the congregation if she wanted grandchildren, and she said her children were waiting, and that she herself would have more children in paradise as well. JW population is dwindling for that reason as well. One reason for needing to bring new ones in.

I had one Jehovah's witness friend ask me, "so, when or if you get this college degree and try to look for work no one is not going to hire you and start you off at top pay, you are going to start at entry level. So you would rather do that then serve Jehovah. Or it's not guaranteed that you will always have that job because armegedon is right around the corner, better get prepared for the end of times. Or what if you get fired?" Uhh 🤔 my response, there's nothing wrong with working up the ladder 🪜 The Governing body had to start out as publishers before they became governing body, right? Well, if I get fired, I just gotta keep looking for a job until someone calls me for a opportunity, right? It's not guaranteed to stay at bethel as a long career goal people get laid off from there as well? And for armegedon concern, if it does come during my life time, well, I just have to make adjustments and keep my life simple, but for now I'm going to live life too the fullest and stop dwelling on all your negativity and fear mongering thoughts that the organization is pushing into your mind.

Yes he is getting paid well but anyone that understands 9th grade math knows this is a problem. Anyone who decides to go to college should be aware of the financial traps .. Hell, There is a book of a b=young man who went to college and became a doctor DEBT FREE !! Knowledge is power. Low paying jobs require alot of you're time working all you're time...the organization expects all you're time and resources...I think what you're doing for a living is you're decision. Religion in general is way too interested in you're personal business.

True! It really should be a personal decision, free from religious influence. What one person thinks is good for them may be a nightmare for someone else. The borg will have one believing that if one pursues Education you will become a Heathen pursuing pleasures such as drugs etc.. and in doing so you will become a “goat”. The borg is so afraid of having its members question anything. Educación does not teach us what to believe, it does however teaches one how to Think, Critically think & that’s what they are afraid of! Glad I left before my son was even born…
