My Journey: Defying the Watchtower and Pursuing My Dreams - Jehovah's Witness 

I was one of those very talented athletes the dreams was crushed. Because of the teachings of Jehovah witnesses.

Helping just one person is saving lives

I hated how the witnesses destroyed my dream of being a chef and owning my own restaurant for 5 years, all because they made me feel guilty about going to college of culinary but now I'm going back to college to reach that dream!!

Another way watchtower uses to crash dreams is to tell members that those things are not going to be needed in the new system. I never realized until now that even if that maybe so, the fact is we living in this system and we need to take care of ourselves. And the new world should not stop people from pursuing their dreams.

I should have been a professional football player. I turned down 2 scholarships. This video really hits home. Im happy now but the religion seriously messes with lives.

Great interview once again. So many points hits home. None of us former jws were allowed to openly chase our dreams. And if in service you were to mention something about it to another robot you got the same canned response of "don't worry about that now, the most important thing is service to Jehovah and the rest you can do in paradise. All other things you wanted to do was considered as refuse.

Easier said than done. If you were too long in this organization, you can't get back these years you have lost and in some cases, it becomes almost impossible to catch up. This organization needs to be banned and pay for the damage they have done.

Loved to see Fifth again. Glad you made that point about not giving credit to JW life for being righteous. I was not raised a JW and was 19 when I became one. It used to deeply hurt me that JWs assumed I was immoral and into drugs and that "the truth" made me a better person. I had never committed immorality "in the world" and never touched drugs. Didn't even swear. I owe it to my non-JW parents for my good upbringing and standards, not the witnesses, that's for sure.

Some of my friends when I was in went to college they kept it a secret , you didn’t know until they graduated some were older adults. Thanks for great work , just woke up six months ago.

I love seeing stories like this. I'm so happy Fifth was able to get out and pursue his dreams. I could have had a promising career with the Air Force with a full college ride if I hadn't been part of the organization. Too late for me now but I'm so glad to see so many young JWs waking up before it's too late. ❤️

My sister has been a JW for 30+yrs her 2 daughters had been dis fellowship she still talks to them & meet up with them either at her house or their house she said she can't shut them down.

The subject of not allowing people, especially kids, to follow their dreams is hard hitting fir me. Our son is a very talented musician and when he was tearing it up at the teen talent shows, witnesses from 4 congregations would come to see him perform. At one of these, the PO or COBE or whatever said this to my husband and me after the show. Ahem. " I was really blown away by his talent. You're going to have to help him keep that in check because he's way too good." I remember being super disgusted at that comment and I never stopped him or discouraged him from any of his musical pursuits, but I didn't encourage, either, and I wish I had.

JT, Lady C, great interview. It's so good to see Fifth smiling and enjoying life. Four years ago I started learning about the ex jws channels after being out over thirty years and I remember Cliff's first videos. He seemed so sad and lost . I remember feeling so sorry about how he was being treated. Fast forward some years later and it's almost like watching an entirely different person. I wish him the best with his career and his son.

I felt the same way that Fifth did. I made my video expecting a few dozen people to watch it. When the views hit a couple hundred thousand views, I was floored.

And those haters will get over it! Fifth is always going to speak what the reality is!!!

Some of us already way past achieving some of our dreams. For example, those of us who could have been pro athletes, but are now already past our prime. I guess the best way to live that again is to encourage our kids to achieve the dreams we couldn't. Personally, my kids are going all the way to that top I couldn't go, all because I needed to remain an exemplary brother in the org.

The message was spoken from the platform we are living in the last days, but the building funds were still going strong. So, in other words, they didn't believe the last day 💩

This was a great interview Lady C and JT, Fifth is a great example for all of us! In high-school I was a really good runner and my coach asked my dad if I could join the track team and he of couse said no. I often wonder where my life would be if I had been given the opportunity. Excellent!!! Love you guys dearly and appreciate the interview with Fifth. PIMO here and four decades in baptized in the mid 80's. Really thankful to be waking up with some time left in life to enjoy life not influence by this publishing company. Vocalist and music producer here as well in the EDM house music genre. I always did my music but never to the level I wanted to because of negative talk instilled in me regarding doing anything outside the organization. It's unfortunate that so many talented people are involved in this "religion" crushing dreams. I felt bad about wanting to use my gifts, which is crazy. I turned down college scholarships after high school but eventually completed my B.S. degree in my fifties but get the side eye and soft shunning from people in my congregation. So thankful to understand we shouldn't be stifled by a religion. It's really sickening when I think about my family never fully supporting me in my endeavors but strangely enough family members outside of the organization who have no interest in this cult became doctors, lawyers, and college educated... they actually praise them. SMH

I now realize I had 0-Zero-0 ambitions as a JW kid. The “End” was going to come well before I could ever graduate High School, in 1978. “You will never grow old in the present system of things” said Watchtower. So even tho’ I was a bright kid in Jr High, my parents shot down any recommendations from my school counselors pertaining to going to college. As a result of this religion, I was never taught anything about pursuing higher education, no goal setting, no ambitions, never instilled with a strong work ethic or how to plan, work and achieve goals. Never taught how to save up money and financially strategize for the future. Nothing of the sort. I still struggle with all sorts of issues to this Day ! This religion has robbed many young ones of their life’s potential!

Great to see ExJW fifth on your channel. I have watched several of his videos since he first showed up on utube. This interview is different from his other interviews in that it brings out aspects of his life that I did not know about.

I think the ones that say it's not that bad, are afraid of being called apostate in the end. It's the one line they won't cross just in case it's true. Some still believe in Jehovah just not the org. So just in case they won't be critical.

Hello iv been watching your videos for some time now. And I want to thank you for the knowledge that you bring to the table. My journey started being born into jehovahs witness, and lasted into my 20's. As I started opening my eyes and enlightening myself I'm able to see the truth now. Most of my immediate family has left the Organization except for my mother, im going to let her be because of her age and how she chooses to rationalize life at this point in her age...which upsets me cause I knkw how much it means to her...but as for me im an going to continue to grow and education myself as much as I can and find my purpose and hopefully leave my mark on this world we live in as you and lady C have

What an enlightening interview. Now I don't feel as guilty with my decision to fade out via a foreign language congregation. There are too many witnesses in my living surroundings and I was not ready for the conversation, shunning and fake elder visit when they start to inquire of my lack of attendance and comments at zoom meetings which continues to be a blessing from the bold decision of not entering the place of false, controlled worship at the halls just yet. I am basically preparing for my move out of state next summer when I would fade completely and for good leaving no contact. That is why I chose a target language of interest just to learn it for my new job when I move. I don't care about the message not penetrating me b/c I am not trying to meditate or study the false material. Just make a comment at every other meeting that I attend so to say that I am a little active while I still have to run into those trained guilt tripping friends in my small community. It is a shame to hide from pressure and fear the labeling of apostate, but I just need to get by for one more year to fully escape. I needed to hear the assurance of Fifth who carried over his foreign language skill to his new life.

Fifth is essential in my waking up. ExJW Fifth’s channel was the only RU-vid channel I allowed myself to watch during the first stage of my waking up process.

I really appreciate the content of this video as an inspiration to people who are captive in this organization and to those who have left or are having the gut feel that something here is wrong. The Shunning video from the 2016 convention should be seen by everyone who values family as a red flag and a green light to get out!

Fifth’s parents are following the shunning guidelines 💯. What I don’t understand is why they’ve doubled down on the guidelines yet when it gets into the public arena they come out with the excuse “normal family relationships continue”. They tried that excuse in the recent Belgian case. The biblical context was to stop talking to anyone in that situation about spiritual matters - not to cut them off dead. If JW policy is to shun they should fully own it instead of misrepresenting it. Well aware of fifth’s musical output but for me he will be hard pressed to top the track “cost of doing business” on his you tube page. I had goosebumps - recommend all to check out.. Wishing fifth and his family a continued successful future!

J,T, and lady C ,you'll always make great video's and interviews, and always informational, this is how I'm seeing it though, so far, a lot of people that I have seen not just on your channel but on all the channels, there's all really good and nice and literally beautiful people, so the religion have lost all these really great people, if forreal, if Jesus christ and Jehovah are looking down from heaven. I take it that they would be very upset with the religion,like how do you guys loose all these great sheep that they gave them to shepherd, if I was in the heavens and was looking down and seen this happening, I would be pretty upset about that,

"Jehovah will provide" ... yeah, he gave your child a great talent to keep them from being beggars in the streets. Now appreciate it & develop it. David was a musician/songwriter/poet. Good thing his dad didn't take his lyre away and tell him to focus on tending the sheep & he can play music in 'the new system'.

Love, love, love this video. So real. I look for opportunities to talk to open minded Jehovah Witnesses about this organization. I am not disfellowship. I am looking to enlighten those in this religion organization to go, go after your dream. Never listen to anyone who shut down your desire to improve your financial needs and your ability to grow and become the best that you can become in this life.... It's ok to believe in a paradise. ( but be reasonable). There are people who believe in Santa Claus. When I open my front door and drive down the highway, I see paradise. (sound crazy). Its all about perception. Yes, we live in a less desirable world, (that's true) don't let anyone sell you a pipe dream. Make the truth your own. Live your life. Seek that niche. After all isn't JW a billion dollar business. Hello everyone, where have you been fifth . Glad you are back, similar experience was sick of new light which it is an excuse to change there Cooperation. I knew that this just couldn't be the truth, if Jehovah is the same. Lady Ce & JT y'all have help all of us. Also the Wayman, Jill Scott & while I wa look at th Tamron Hall show one of the Actor on Pose was raised a JW. Don't forget about the Jackson....My son wanted to play Basketball from infancy so when he was published in the overseer newspaper they show him & his Basketball when he was two years old. So Happy I didn't hinder his career. I'm a Mom, I couldn't imagine not talking with my children what was one called a blessing from Jehovah. The fact that they say we are free moral agent, that means we should be allowed to make choices & to be critical thinker. Well the Celebrity water it down I know for a fact because they never was baptize so they was able to still be around & not be shunned. So there career went on. My daughter got baptize & decided to not go anymore, one sister came to me and said you will let her stay in your house. I told her your daughter had a whole baby & she stay with you and the Book study was at your house. I said how hypocritical. I said Baptism is just symbol of your dedication. I told her both of us are married, I said if you take off your ring you are still married. I said your daughter had been taught this religion from infancy as my daughter, she chose not to put on the ring that her . protection. If you really believe that Jehovah is closing his eyes toward your daughter because she isn't baptize. I told her you are a typical hypocritical JW.

I’m so glad to see Fifth!!! When I was doing my researching back in 2018 regarding my doubts, he was one activist that helped me so much to ease muy guilt because my doubts were valid! I really miss him but thanks to him and many others like this channel I really thank you all!!! Still wanting to know about many others that helped me and many others to wake up! Sadly I thought that my unbelieving mate was abusive... I realized that I wasnt in an abusive marriage rather I was in an abusive religion. After 12 years apart I'm getting back together with my husband of 33 years and I find that I'm happy again and I wont ĺet the witness " faith" bother me anymore. Thanķs fòr your vidios

This video and your channel has been a true blessing to me. I have been disfellowshiped for over 35 years and up until 9 years ago I had a great relationship with my mother who is still in. 9 years ago she read a Watchtower and saw that she can’t have a relationship with me at all. I was so hurt, it felt like she had picked her religion over her only child once again. She is the one who turned me in when I was disfellowship. Now the only time we speak is when I text her . At times the hurt is still there but now I feel like I have found my people

A lot of people even Jws were telling me I sounded like Luther Vandross when I sing in the Kingdom Hall and actually I got shunned a lil bit by some of the men in the congregation cause it was their wives telling me this lol! Us Mexicans are also disproportionately impacted by the Watchtower. Many of us didn’t go to college because of the governing body’s teachings. They’re STILL messing with my money $$$ !!!

I used to be a PIMO who “watered down” the Watchtower organization until I finally researched its history, teachings and culture. This organization is a “sneer and a racket”.

FIFTH has good interviews I used to watch his channel on youtube, glad he came on like that he is pursuing his goals and has moved on with his own family.

When I woke up...yes, some have shunned me...I don't worry about that so much. I walk my truth...I am open to things that have allow me to grow within, apart from that of being a JW. I keep it real. I try to be open minded...and I still walk in a my Spiritual walk with Jehovah. I find myself shunning those "Jehovah Citric" minded Witnesses....these are happy being in their little box.

Amen! So many even relatives that were never active and such who look down on us as though it wasn’t that bad have no room to speak because they were never really JWs...including celebrities who are already doing things that normally would get them disfellowshipped. Which btw, is this because they weren’t baptized? Or does the Society give them a free pass? I can’t really see that fitting into their agenda unless I am missing something. It’s just like Fifth says...don’t invalidate the trauma just because you were never a JW. I was actively in involved as a child, forced to do things I didn’t want to do on a regular basis. You weren’t shunned, not allowed to dream openly, you didn’t get taken to the elders in the back of the library after the Sunday talk when they found out you were seeing a non JW which told the rest of the congregation watch out for this person - they did something wrong!! They defend their dear loved family member’s faith when they don’t even have a clue!! smh

A man I know whose partner was in a different cult called the police over a rough but none violent domestic argument with her male partner...Two police soon arrived, and the women of the house let them both inside the house. The senior policemen started lecturing the guy, while the 6;2" junior cop stood behind his senior officer with his hands folded across his chest while staring directly down at the man who was sitting down on a chair. The guy tried to explain to the officer, by saying, we are having problems, my partner is religiously brainwashed, she's not a Jehovah Witness, but just as brainwashed as they are. Immediately, the junior officer started laughing but in silence, "he was standing directly behind his senior officer", while the senior officer said to the man. What's wrong with the Jehovah Witnesses? Some of my best friends are Jehovah witnesses!... The man asked the policeman: You're not a JW by any chance, are you? The policeman quietly answered, as a matter of fact, I am. The man got up from his chair and walked straight out of the house, shouting I'm really having a bad day today... "This is a fact, not a joke".

My parents were told by my drama teacher and the High School principal that I should be sent to the Academy of Performing Arts. We knew that wasn’t going to happen. I do however volunteer in the theater locally.

When I was going to the hall as a teenager, it was funny how the worst kids were the Presiding Overseer’s kids ironically enough listening to all the “worldly” music, watching R-rated movies, sneaking out to mess around with the OTHER Elder’s kids from the other congregation that also were up to no good. Smash cut to perfect behavior at the meetings the next night. “That young brother over there. He’s a good, bright young boy.” Yea right. Meantime I get lectured about getting appointed as secretary of the Spanish club in high school. “That’s a political tendency”. Wow.

Great video!! Fifth I had an aunt who was a pioneer in the 1960’s. She left the religion and married a “worldly” man. She never looked back. Fast forward 2015 when I woke up, she was the biggest supporter of the jws! Go figure! She’d see my posts and would ask me why I hated jws so much! Also, yes indeed always was and am a lover of Tupac’s music, regardless of what jws said when I was still in lol!

Jehovah's the one who provided the talent, and the Elders are contradicting that!
