@@philiphunn194 I think it still is. Just look at the type of animation we get now. Gravity Fall, Rick and Morty, heck even Star Trek LD. Not that the first two are bad shows but it just feels.....not revolutionary
Merriwent Bilgee For one, drugs were a huge problem back in those days. Then there was the major issue with homosexuals, women, & blacks (as well as other minorities) pushing for equal rights. Plus, society as a whole in that era was a major problem. Like I said, the 80s only rocked in terms of movies, music, & cartoons. Nothing more.
@@zachguest8565 That doesn't make sense, how does them having the same name have anything to do with the band in Jem? They aren't even the same genre, The Misfits (Jem) are rock, but the actual band is punk-rock.
I used to watch hem and the holograms at 6 years old but the show is like so much cooler honestly. The only reason i like the movie is because Hayley kiyoko is in it.

There's NO WAY they can make a live-action or a remake of this nowadays. They girls are all tall and skinny, that's a no-no on today's snowflake society. There are no Black girls, that's another no-no. They have a glam-metal look, today they would have to have a rap-pop look.
I can hardly believe the way they did that movie. Erica Raymond replaces both Eric Raymond and Pizzaz. There is no rival music group like the Misfits. Synergy doesn't make any really good illusions. That "Young Blood" song sounds more like one Taylor Swift would do than the Holograms or the Misfts. They didn't even try to live up to the image of the cartoon at all.
I am 39 years old, randomly spoke to my husband about this cartoon. This used to be my Sunday morning show! My Saturday line up was Thunderbirds, Transformers, He-Man, My Little Pony Tales and Samurai Pizza Cats! Good old days. ❤
If i not wrong, the masters with the episodes has 2 track, one for the mono áudio, with instrumental, voices and etc, and the another one is Just a track with the instrumental
Dook LaRue I don't think all episodes have the opening theme out of sync. I will double check my Shout Factory boxset, but I'm sure it isn't the case. 😃
I have to agree. The 80s were filled with so many animated ideas that most shows today are just copying something from that time. True 80's Kids Definitely Remember this. I was one of them! School didn't start till 8am, so I woke up early to watch Jem! It was my favorite. I had coloring books, night gowns, slippers, everything Jem! One of the best memories I have of my childhood! Now, I get to share it with my little girl, thanks HUB network! ! The 80's was the best decade!!!!, at least I think so! Lol!
I remember LOVING this show when I was like 6 or 7! I'm barely 15 and this is reminding me of the days where I used to drink my apple juice and eat my chef Boyardee pasta for lunch lmao.
I remember I was only 11 or 12 years old when this was on the Hub. After that, I became hooked onto it. I would sing most of this show's songs and others would tell me I sing good. I love "Jem and the Holograms." The series, that is. The movie is a disgrace to the series in general.
I watched this show as a kid in the 80s and i love it! Jem is a great character and a strong woman.the show has very serious themes like abduction,extorsion,love,betrayal,friendship,envy,superation,etc
I just want to thank Hub for having aired this show. I especially appreciated your use of the original airing's "Jem will be right back after these messages!" bumpers at the beginning and end of commercial breaks. It's rare to see that on any show's re-run! Also, thanks for airing the true original episodes. There's a new version out there that modernized the animation. But the 80's animation is part of what we love! :) So again, thank you HUBTVNETWORK for that. - and for hosting these clips!
Same, movie about Jem was such a disappointment. It felt nothing like the Jem cartoon I used to watch on Happy TV. And that disappointment truly made me heartbroken. Fortunately, Hotel Transylvania 3 healed my broken heart and it was way better than I expected it to be.

Was scrolling through Netflix and I just remembered that show I used to watch as a young child and I was like what’s it called and I remembered the name and I told my friend thinking it was all a dream and then came here and felt accomplished and complete now that I remembered this amazing show . That show was pretty awesome, meant for girls, but because there is a lot of action-adventure elements and good music, alot of boys(myself included) loved it! Fun fact: Jen, G.I. Joe, and Transformers take place in the same universe/continuity.
This makes me wonder: was Jem the only cartoon that ever featured music videos on a regular basis? I can't think of any others. This brings back the memories big time. If you haven't even heard of Jem, you're not an 80s child!
Exception: I've heard of Jem before. I actually really liked it as a child, and can remember it being one of the early shows I really liked. Here's the twist: I was born in 1995.

I am quite devastated that as a child no-one ever told me about Jem and the Holograms! I only found out in my 20s, I guess I was born a couple of years too late or they didn't have this show on Aussie TV when I was watching cartoons every Saturday morning. Jem would have been my idol lol.
JemGC20, most likely you got hold of JatH in the mid "aughts", when every Boomerang station on Earth (except the one in North America) carried the Series. There's on YT 2 versions (the original and a Spanish-subtitled one) of one of the ads Boomerang Australia used in '04 to promote JatH. North America had to wait much more: US 'til 28 May '11 for the JatH revival and a little later in Canada.
