Excellent performance by Jeremy Brett as Maxime De Winter in the adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's work for the television.
A shy young lady company is in Monte Carlo when she meets handsome and wealthy widower Maxim de Winter, whose beautiful wife Rebecca has recently died in a tragic accident at sea. The two fall in love and when Maxim asked her hand, she accepts without hesitation. Yet his happiness is soon diluted. The couple moved to Monderley mansion, home of the Winter, where the new Mrs. de Winter discovers that Rebecca has left a strong impression on everyone in the house.

gods!!! he is such a good actor - nuance, showing just enough emotion in the English way, timing - it's no wonder he was such a great Sherlock Holmes - THE Sherlock Holmes. . . Britain has the bestest actors!

Just came across this series in my recommendation ( I’ve been bingeing on Sherlock Holmes) , and I was very pleasantly surprised at how really good this is! I’ve seen the other with Olivier, and find Jeremy Brett’s Max much more intriguing. Love the subtlety in his performance. Fabulous actor! He was a gorgeous man.

Jeremy was so incredible good actor ! what a pity he only show us with this film and Sherlock Holmes. The rest are good, but not enought for his talent. In fact, I rather prefer this version rather than the HichCock one.

I think these actors are closer to the book. He older but not creepy older. She is mousey but not pathetically so.

i like this movie, and this woman , she is beautiful .. inside.. everything in Max is withered, lonely, dying.. but her.. she doesn't know much : ) everything is a moment to explore
