Hated the Lakers growing up, but I respected the greatness of Kobe. I knew that every time Kobe had the ball last, my team was going to lose. To come into the league with the level of hunger for winning that Kobe had at such a young age made the transition from Jordan retiring a little easier. What he would go on to do during the course of his career was nothing short of amazing. Just like Jordan before him, you knew Kobe was different from everyone else; he was special. Him being gone, so early in life, is hard to fathom. I’ll miss him.

A year has come and gone. It's like one of those moments where you will never forget where you were and what you were doing. It was a Sunday and had gone grocery shopping and I walked in the front door and the first thing I would do is turn on the TV to see who's playing. Just then there was a news interruption and all I caught was Kobe's name and my heart went to my stomach. I stood there in shock because I thought it couldn't be true. Being a Laker fan, I had shed many tears during the years but nothing like this. Up to this day when I hear Kobe's name, I have to shed a tear and think, Kobe, you certainly left a mark on this earth and you will never be forgotten!
