Drowning is a SILENT death. Never, ever take your eyes off of them. I have 8 grandchildren and I never take my eyes away. I won’t even look at people talking to me. I say to them, “ I’m engaged in our conversation, but I have to keep my eyes on kids”!!! We love our pool but I have literally had night mares about my grand babies!

That is wonderful, and how it should be! Anything can happen, even to the best swimmers. As a former lifeguard, you can bet I have pulled kids out of a pool that were swimming just fine, then suddenly started struggling to even make it to the side to get out.
@jencatlady8092

There is also secondary drowning and that even more silent. It when you inhale water and it gets in the lungs . This can lead to pneumonia and other breathing problems. If she not watching and does see them swallow the water. She won't think anything of it if one of her children starts coughing and seems tired after swimming.

I’m a real estate agent and recently sold a house to a couple with TEN kids. Mama was emphatic about there being no pool because you can’t keep eyes on 10 kids 24-7. That’s responsible parenting.

@@Mama_Bear524 and you think you’ve nailed the skeleton in the coffin? 😂😂😂💔 y’all weird beyond control. You don’t hide the skeletons from your kids you teach them a way around them. What I’m saying is infants can survive water you teach them survival you don’t shield them. I’ve heard of kids drowning at the age of 3/4 in the US and their houses don’t have pools , why a parent has a toddler who can’t survive water is baffling when even a 5 month old can survive water. Teach your kids survival don’t shield them from problems that’s the worst thing parents tend to do is shield their babies. I follow a family on ig who’s youngest drowned unexpectedly the mom took her eyes off for 10 seconds and next thing the 4 year old was drowning and he’s in a vegetative state rn and if it were up to that mother she’d go back in time and invest in water survival for her children, she’s taking the other kids to swimming lessons rn. And no the drowning incident didn’t take place in their house as they have no pool

@@Aprokoheadquaters it’s also your responsibility to do what YOU as the parent think is best! Personally I feel the same way a lot of other parents do about pools. If my daughters going to a pool I’m going in with her. It comes down to responsibly raising your children. 1 child is hard, can’t imagine 10, so understanding why “no pools” id do the same. But you do what I did growing up and do water safety classes and swimming lessons from age 4 (started in kindergarten [Australia])
@brucheweinberger6863

You can actually do both. Not have a swimming pool and give your kids swimming lessons. Maybe because I live in NY, I don't see the extra stress of having your own swimming pool; especially someone like me, 6 kids from 19 through the age of 4.
@pajamamama16

@@lindzS81 I grew up with a pool - almost drown at the age of 3 or so and still got back in. My point, which I should have worded better, was if mama didn't feel comfortable with it, she knew her limitations and concerns. That part is the responsible parenting part (IMO). I absolutely think one can safely have a pool with children if they are careful. I also think careful people with pools suffer tragic accidents and irresponsible people with pools get off lucky too. In my old age, I've learned the world isn't black and white. And the reply tagged Fl Adventures in particular but I'm definitely not singling you out as much as I am just adding to the conversation. :)

exactly, as a lifeguard the ratio of people to a single guard is 30. You can easily continuously scan all of these people in a pool and watch to keep them safe. As a lifeguard, if boys in the pool were misbehaving like she said her sons were, we would be having a discussion about why they can't do that, and if the behaviour continues they can't be in the pool. She needs to grow up and stop trying to be her kids friend and keep them safe.

She is killing me! The point of watching your kids play in a pool isn’t to “watch” them, it’s so you can spring into action if something happens. If she is inside behind the window it will take her “forever” (not literally like she did when she literally lived in the pool with her brother) to get to that child in a situation where seconds count. I only have a blow up pool and I would NEVER allow my kids (7, 5, & 3) to be outside alone when it’s filled. They can all swim but if they are unconscious they can’t....DUH! How?! She also in that video didnt just "run inside" like she claims, she was upstairs doing stuff and stopped in to talk to Chris then sat down in kitchen not by pool. Her being by the pool in that latest vlog was to try and show she sits out there when really she doesn't. Also seconds count when it comes to drowning. And she said she doesn't allow screaming because she can't hear if they need help or just screaming. Silent drowning is the case with most. I also wish she would stop blaming it on being a boy thing. Her step kids are a good example that boy or not parenting plays a part in how kids act. Her kids never hear the word no and are allowed to run wild. My free range chickens have more rules than her kids. There was no life guard in attendance at the time and no parents were watching him. I think he was 6 years old if I remember. So you can imagine how much trouble they got into. When my niece comes over my sister always tells me to watch her cause my niece thinks she is a pro swimmer because she takes classes and always be in the pool with her. (Not that I would have left her anyways). Even if they are not in the pool you should always watch them or have it gated off. I wonder how the mom of the husbands kids, feels. Knowing that they swim and do things without supervision. This should be used in a custody case

Josh: Is that Mike and Ikes? Looks to the secret stash he hides from the kids. 👀 Love the shirt Josh 👍 Ive never seen her do any kind of swimming lessons either.

They need a fence and a pool alarm, and sorry but seconds matter when it comes to drowning. Being in a house can mean the difference in the amount of brain damage and brain death.

I remember my parents being very strict with our pool and we were so frustrated about it, but I'm glad they were. Especially with an out of ground pool, we could have fallen out and hit our heads if we were being stupid and not following the rules. We did get hurt a few times, but never anything serious thanks to my parents setting boundaries!
