I've always felt like people downplay Deidera due to his fight with Sasuke and even Gaara but like these guys mentioned Sasuke was the perfect counter to him and it was still a very close fight

I thought sage mode increase the senses to insane level. I think jiraiya could sense the nano bomb coming. U could say he an incomplete sage and his senses not that strong but he has the sages frog on his shoulder could sense the nano bomb and tell jiraiya to get away.

I hate that people always use the argument "Jiraiya lost to Pain" to downplay him. Ok, and? The entire village of Konoha lost to Pain, including Kakashi who could beat Deidara and was weaker than Jiraiya at the time.

jiraya while off guard took a POINT BLANK missisle to the face and didnt die, and you are telling me he will die to c1? literally he regained consciousness after his heart literally stopped moving to give intel to the leaf, also how is c1 mountain level? it oneshots the 3 tails but explosion release is created from lightning and heart release, 2 "super effective" elements against water, also jiraya fought pain in his prime, its very different from the one naruto fought, cuz he was insanly fatigued, he fought an entire village all by himselfe and then blow it up, and is not like its only the deeva path that gets tired, cuz nagato gives them the chackra so if deeva uses shinra tensei nagato is the one that uses the chackra there for EVERY pain gets weaker, not to mention, using only 3 paths makes them a lot stronger than they would be when all 6 paths are out, since the chackra is more focused on those 3, it was a joke but kiba making the preida path run away is beacouse he is a support fighter that absorbs ninjutsu, kiba uses taijutsu so he is powerless against him, also he doesnt have the shared vision helping him, for the fight itselfe, true that flying agaisnt someone that cant is insane advantage tho toads are natorius to jump really high so i dont see jiraya having a problem with closing the distance, sagemode also increase reaction speed and speed itselfe so i dont see why jiraya would get tagged by every bomb deidara throws at him, talking about speed "gaara blocking raikage there for deidara is faster/relative to raikage" doesnt make any sense, not only is raikage stated to be the fastest man alive but also in that moment he was falling down so as you adressed yourselfe, gravity is not that fast and so gaara didnt have much problem blocking the raikage, also jiraya doesnt fall short to speed either cuz the sandal feat, and really, if fatigued hebi sasuke can punch deidara and send him several metres away you really think sage jiraya's massive rasengan is not oneshotting him?

Alright, so, there's some really simple scaling here. Sasuke beat sick Orochimaru, but said he would have lost to stronger versions of him. Sasuke tied with Deidara, which should put Deidara below Orochimaru. Base Jiraiya is relative to full-powered base Orochimaru. Then you add Sage Mode and he's leagues above Deidara.

Gaara got way stronger and faster from BoS to the war arc, scaling deidara off 5 kage summit Gaara is pretty dishonest.

The giant frog stomach jutsu he used against Itachi would be extremely effective against Deidara, and given his research, Jiraiya should know to use it right away. Pain and Tobi were basically the only major players in the Akatsuki he didn't know about, and the inability to prepare for the fight against a total unknown was what killed Jiraiya, not impotence. I don't really think we were shown any of his best fights, but the fact that Itachi escalated to Amaterasu basically right away to get away from a prepared Jiraiya shows that Jiraya's biggest strength comes from operating on the principle of "know thy enemy." By the time he really knew how to counter Pain fully (and he did get pain figured out almost completely by the end), he was just too injured to turn things around. Had he gone into the Pain fight knowing everything he knew by the time he died, there's a strong chance he'd have won.

You start running into alot of problems when backwards scaling naruto speed like saying deidara can react to gaara who can block the raikage which therefore means he's way faster than jiraiya cause at that point you could backwards scale jiraiya the same way. Naruto with a small amount of kyuubi Chakra and base sharingan early shippuden kakashi could somewhat keep up with deidara and kakashi nearly one shot him and it's not like deidara was taking it super easy either since he was clearly on edge when naruto started gaining more kyuubi Chakra. Jiraiya at least somewhat fended off a 4 tailed version two cloak naruto at this time. Naruto and kakashi are heavily inferior to jiraiya in sage mode during this part of the story. Base jiraiya is somewhat on a similar level to base orochimaru being constantly compared to him and the akatsuki members like sasori respected orochimarus strength and deidara says he's weaker than him. So at that point you might as well scale base naruto somewhat kyuubi Chakra to raikage level speed. Deidara also didn't one shot the three tails by the way its heavily implied tobi did something to the three tails during that fight.

So we are taking everything out of context to downplay Jiraiya, huh? It would not be the first time you would do something like that but ok. It's unbelievable that these people are willing to accept that Pain is the strongest in the Akatsuki and someone who one shots Deidara, but not consider the fact that a stronger Pain, in the Rain Village (due to being closer to Nagato) said that Jiraiya with intel could kill him. Also, Sage Mode Naruto equals more or less Sage Mode Jiraiya.

Okay, these guys are kind of wanking Deidura to the moon here. C4 kind of just gets hard countered by Sage Mode and literally any wind jutsu capable of blowing it away which a ton of Toads have. He also has incredibly wide range attacks like like Sage Art: Goemon that reaches 1000s of degrees, Fire Release: Big Flame Bullet which csn create torrents of flames that limit an enemy's ability to maneuver in enclosed areas, Hair Needle Senbon which Fire rapidly and can blow up Deidura's projectiles wau before they can reach him. Not to mention Summons like Gamabunta when he fights in combination with him csm kind of just nuke wide areas. Literally the only reason Gaara didn't just AOE damage the heck out of him was because Deidara kept trying to blow up the Sand Village to force him to tank the attacks lol 😆

I wouldn't say that Deidara scales to the Raikage in speed. I think Deidara's bigger asset against Gaara was surprise and subtlety not just raw speed but I could be wrong. Haven't watched that fight in years. Plus if I'm not mistaken, Deidara is considered weaker than Sasori who definitely doesn't scale to the Raikage's speed imo. But Sasori instead has very powerful defense and lethality Jiraiya has that toad flesh jutsu that acts as a barrier. Only Amaterasu has broken through it. Idk how sturdy it is against explosions, but Jiraiya essentially says it should be impervious to fire. So it seems like a powerful defense. Intuitively, if Jiraiya has Ma and Pa summoned, the speed and lethality of the senjutsu that they and Jiraiya use is not something I think Deidara can casually dodge even highballing the latter's speed, especially mid flight. Not even Pain was able to actually dodge some of those attacks.

There's also a chance the fight ends before Jiraya can even see the move as an option, as Ma and Pa don't even like to do it anyway so it won't be his go to most likely

My man this video in my honest opinion is an L. Your rewrite series is fire and most of the time you have a good take related to naruto but this one is a stretch to say the least. Itachi and Kisame ran from Jiraya. I Know that powerscaling in naruto to shippuden is dogshit but narratively speaking it is more than implied that Jiraya is relative to full power orochimaru. Furthermore Itachi and Kisame did give the recpect to the Sannin even tho it was kind of retconned in shippuden since both of them are more powerful then we knew at that point. But still Pain was set up to be the main villian who kills Jiraya and he was implied to be way more powerful than any of the akatsuki. Deidara is the weakest member after Hidan so it shouldnt be right to say he is stronger then Jiraya. Note: im not a Jiraya fan at all but still Hebi sasuke is weaker then him narrativeli speaking so is Kakuzu and Sasori... people who can beat full power Orichimaru are valid to take on and defeat Jiraya

Deidera’s C4, in theory, could defeat almost anyone shown in Naruto. Not even the nine tails can regenerate from disintegration. But maybe it’s possible for wind to counter them. Thing is, it one didn’t aware of the c4, it’s even more deadly since it’s a fatal surprise attack. Naruto would’ve lost to c4. Same with Gaara, Sasori, even Pain unless he reflects or absorbs it

I think that scaling Deidara's speed above or equal to the Raikages V2 cloak is not it. Deidara lost to Sasuke who got the better of him in every close combat situation. Sasuke got a massive amp. Then fought the Raikage and could only react to his speed with his MS but not with his body movements. So how could a weaker Sasuke who is slower than the Raikage be faster than Deidara who should be equal to the speed of the Raikage. I think you didn't take all facts into account here. Also, unless I'm stupid, the Pains that fought Jiraiya should have been stronger than the ones who invaded Konoha due to being closer to Nagato. They were close to imperfect sage Jiraiya in Amegakure but in Konoha one lost to KoNoHaMAru who is trash. Idk who'd win but it definetly isn't a stom. Also Deidara has kinda low defense so he probably gets close to threeshot by sage boy

The moment I saw bruh say that Jiraiya, one of only THREE ninja with the title of Sannin say that "he's below Sannin level" I checked out immediately. And did bruh really say that Itachi is faster than Raikage Ay??? Dude? You being serious right now? Context is everything, Itachi was fully amped while fighting KCM Naruto who wasn't moving at full speed nor was at full power due to making multiple Kage level shadow clones to fight on the field. Itachi isn't KCM 1 Naruto level in terms of speed. Jiraiya himself is relative to the other 2 Sannin and scales above them by multiple statements (him threatening to kill Tsunade in part 1 and Tsunade drugging him so that she wouldn't have to fight him or have him interfere in her battle with Oro, Pain stating that he can't beat Jiraiya if Jiraiya knew of his own abilities and the obvious comparison of Naruto v Sasuke in part 1 being a direct representation of Jiraiya vs Oro when Oro left which puts Jiraiya above Oro bc Jiraiya was simply trying to bring Oro back the same way Naruto was, Jiraiya himself implies this comparison.) Jiraiya and Itachi are above all of the akatsuki members overall as shinobi (minus Pain and Obito).

Jiraiya's sage mode is almost unbeatable by the time it appears on the story. He was stronger than Orochimaru, 4th Raikage, every Akatsuki member but Pain (6th at the time) and Obito probably, etc. The only guys who could beat him other than the mentioned were Killer Bee and maybe Itachi obtain a draw thanks to Amaterasu (excluding Yata and Totsuka, which are plot holes that simply should not exist). Jiraiya's base mode is little more than an strong Jounin, but sage mode is a ridiculous power up that a rival needs to prevent while fighting 3 huge toads. Anyways, I agree that during the Pain fight Jiraiya's sage mode should have been shown stronge.

The argument "deidara can tank his own C1" is kinda moot bc he can more or less control how strong the explosion is.

I like that nobody expects no one to “just wait and watch enemy doing something” but that’s exactly what is happening in this anime. They go from 1,10,30,70 to 100. Not straight to 100. And it’s a fight after all. There will be strategy and distractions. We talking about Jiraya. Not Guy right? So taking away Jiraya’s biggest advantage (reverse summoning) with this is kinda meh. Again, sensing those bombs is another advantage. I wouldn’t be surprised if Deidara decided to be again a suicide bomber and Jiraya came from toad’s mouth after.

This is a really weird take tbh. Jiraiya is leagues above Deidara. While Deidara is one of the most powerful and potentially haxed characters in the series. Jiraiya has such a vast amount of Ninjitsu and knowledge of Ninjitsu in general. That nothing would truly take him by surprise except the suicide technique. As he would not expect Deidara to kill himself. But could just summon one of his toads to save him from the attack. Jiraiya would have essentially full knowledge of Deidara's techniques as he is very familiar with Deidara's village. While he himself does not have any notable lightning techniques I think... His summons have other jutsu that can be used as alternatives to exploit the weaknesses in Deidara's techniques. Remember that during the Akatsuki attack on Part 1. Which you praise so much. Itachi said that if he and Kisame tried to take on Jiraiya. At least one of them would die. Now I believe Itachi mostly said this because he and Jiraiya were working together behind the scenes. But I do also believe he was serious in the sense that he could still potentially kill either of them even in a 2v1. The Jiraiya vs Kisame debate is a bit different. But Deidara is not Kisame. He doesn't need Sage Mode either but if he goes into Sage Mode. Deidara will be instantly blitzed and probably one shot. There are some that try to scale Deidara to Sasuke. But you can't really scale Deidara to Orochimaru via Sasuke. As Orochimaru still won their fight while literally on his deathbed. People that ignore context say that Sasuke won. But Sasuke himself admitted Orochimaru could not be defeated that easily. And the entire fight with Itachi. Was done specifically for Orochimaru to be sealed until the next Great Ninja War had began. In really general it's not really fair to downscale an opponent because of their portrayal against Orochimaru. He is one of the most OP villains in the series and was constantly nerfed. While sick, dying, and being essentially unable to use his arms in Shippuden. He literally toyed with the same 4 Tailed Naruto that almost killed Jiraiya. He has consistently blitzed Sasori even while he was on guard. And used a "fight" between a Deidara and Sasori that were trying to kill him as a test for one of his Edos. Before even joining the Akatsuki he took a Shinra Tensei from Pain then literally shrugged it off while saying "Wow! That's interesting!" This legitimately scared Pain a bit and he let Orochimaru join so he didn't have to have him as an enemy. All that is just Base Healthy Shippuden Orochimaru. It's honestly just not a good take. You are underestimating Jiraiya's abilities and standing in the verse. You are also underestimating what he is willing to both lose and use as a Shinobi. While he does have a bond with his toads. If push comes to shove he will use them to save his life. All summons at Sanin or even Chunin level are aware of this fact. Even Hiruzen's summon Enma. Was more than willing to fight to the death with him. I'm sure Jiraiya's summons would not want to Jiraiya to accept death if they could trade their lives for his. Honestly that is kind of theme in Naruto at this point. Even Kurama sacrificed his life for Naruto.

Also the Shukaku that Gamabunta fought wasn't a full power version because Gara didn't bring him out the normal way anyways, and he couldn't even use Bijudama. So yes Gamabunta is relative to a weaker Shukaku which is good for a non tailed beast and earns him along with Manda and Katsura title of the strongest summons but the Biju are a different level

So the problem here is that you're only using feats and not using any of the lore or taking the narrative into consideration... Jiraija is relative to Tsunade and Orochimaru... Tsunade NEVER did any training whatsoever from the time Jiraija died and when Tsunade fought against Madera... So that means they're still relative 💯 the narrative of the story simply screwed Jiraija over... having him die against pain ruined his feats and the fact that he didn't come back as an Edo screwed his feats even more... but obviously an Edo Jiraija would have been even stronger than Edo Hiruzen so I scale him higher and we could use Hiruzens feats for Jiraija .... but the Lore of Jiraija is more than enough to suggest that he would win against Deidara

Logic of these guys: Deidara had a fair match with Naruto in the first episodes, therefore Naruto in the last episode is considered god level, so Deidara is god level. Damn, even Kiba in the chunning exams almost beated him so he is god level too.

The fact that Naruto was coming with Jiraiya and Konoha allowed that because they knew he was extremely strong that other akatsuki team wouldn’t chase them. Obito only told Itachi he wouldn’t touch Konoha but he never swore not to capture Naruto himself, or send other team to capture Naruto. Jiraiya was no doubt a threat Akatsuki didn’t want to fuck with. So yup, you can tell Itachi and Kisame could have defeated Jiraiya if they really tried but that doesn’t mean any other Akatsuki team had enough bravery to risk catching Naruto when Jiraiya was by his side. Just wanna mention this so we can make sure we are not underating Jiraiya :v

Jiraiya has oil that can slow Deidara and fire style that can blow up his clay before Deidara can even throw his clay creatures. Jiraiya has Gamabunta and now you tell me that Deidara can handle both Gamabunta and Jiraiya at the same time? Jiraiya has the toad stomach, his base rasengan that is pretty strong his hair that can act as a shield, a weapon for close range and long range, has a jutsu that can sense intruders and probably the bombs that Deidara plants. Jiraiya can also summon Gamaken, can make shadow clones and in the Pain fight Jiraiya made fire style jutsu without weaving hand signs. Jiraiya in the Pain fight couldn’t use his hands beacuse he was going in Sage Mode and Jiraiya still hit like three or four dogs just by spinning and kicking them where you see how agile he is in base without using hands and how good is he in taijutsu. Jiraiya has dark swamp that can drown all the creatures that Deidara has on the ground. And I didn't even talk about Sage Mode Jiraiya. Base Jiraiya beats Deidara. And if you want me to scale A>B then I can tell you that Orochimaru with his hands and a healthy body= Jiraiya and Orochimaru>Hebi Sasuke>Deidara

I think Sage Jiraiya would be able to sense the micro bombs and blow them away with wind style. So even tho you're right about the C4 being very strong jutsu, it wouldn't really work against Sage Jiraiya because of this reason. While I think Jiraiya is technically stronger then Deidara, I’m not gonna pretend he has a concrete way out of deidara’s C4 explosives. That shit would more likely then not kill any other target unless. They have to be aware of the tiny microscopic bombs and the have a possible means for disabling them. Which is done by channeling lighting style through the body. If you don’t have that, then its game over.

3:35 I dont think you could block that whit Durability, but there are a few other Methodes, Hashirama can still Sense Chakra, you might survive if you can teleport, hold your breath, or absorb the Chakra out of the Air, or out of your Body. 6:35 oh yes, Gamabunta made a Statement here about the Fight. After he got hit once, he was pretty injured and recommended to Naruto he sould wake up Gaara. So im pretty sure Gamabunta was weaker then Shukaku, his Ninjutsu was about equal, but he has less Chakra, and his Taijutsu fails, because his short Sword got stuck in Shukakus sandy Body whitout dealing any Damage. He was a bit more agile, but still a big Target. So he wouldnt have lasted long if the fight had continued for a longer period of Time. About who wins, I think Jiraiya has to switch into a favorable Location and maybe catch Deidara whit his Toad Stomage Technic, or use the big Fire Move he used whit Gamabunta in the Sannin Fight. Or Gamabuntas Watherballs. Maybe a Genjutsu from the two Toads? Its not like he has no Tools to work whit, he could survive C0 like Sasuke, Senninmode is good against the C2 Landmines and maybe his Needles to pierce the Ground? Maybe even some Sealing Justs to get rid of C4, if he figures it out, I think Seninmode can give him Sensor Abilitys. The Question is jusf, why sould he go all out, and can he go all out fast enough, cause Senninmode needs Time, and the Stomache needs a favorable Location. 7:00 whata not what happened? So durability in most cases is very irrelevant. There are some scenes in Part 1, where Naruto or Sasuke got kicked into a Wall and the Wall was jusf shattering, but for the most part talking something Iike Chidori, or Rasengan, or C1 whitout any Armor, or Healing ability just straight up kills you. I mean you can dissagree whit me and there are maybe some other examples what contradict me, but it would be pretty sad, cause i got drawn to the Series because everyone was squishy. It was a completly new Experience after Digimon, Pokemon and Dragonball Classic.

sorry guys, but i think you're mad on this one. i don't see a world where sage mode jirayia would lose in terms of speed, or even power level in general, to deidara. the dude literally fought Pain 1v6 and only lost because he didn't understand they were just puppets before he got caught by surprise and gravely wounded by the resurrected bodies. deidara wouldn't even have had a chance to make it out alive that far, let alone figuring out the truth during a fight against the 6 Pain. as for the C4, i mean, who cares really? it's a suicide jutsu, and if he uses it, it means he already lost the fight in the first place.

Jiraiya only needs to get in range to trap Deidara in Toad Mouth Bind or Crushing Toad Stomach - either one. Deidara no longer as field advantage and can’t blast out of it either. Gets bodied by a massive Rasengan point blank or gets digested.

Did they not see the fight? The entire time, sasuke was too fast for deidera, he even said that sasukes too fast for him. So how could they ever say that deidera has above-raikage level speed.. deidera just isnt particularly fast. Also you cant assume every biju is the same because theyre not the same, they each have a different level of power.

This is what logic would dictate but I'm pretty sure if Kishimoto writes this fight there's no way a fodder akatsuki like Deidara would win, ofc Jiraiya might struggle but Jiraiya is a complete ninja with a variety of jutsus and most importantly he's collected unlike Deidara here that just blows himself up when things don't go his way and STILL fails.
