It is not the responsibility of a victim to stop the perpetrator’s potential future crimes. There were enough people around Jessi who knew something was wrong and didn’t do enough. Despite that Jessi did go to the police and was dismissed. Even in a perfect system where victims are believed, it’s still not the victim’s responsibility to come forward. Their responsibility is only to themselves, to survive and hopefully thrive like Jessi appears to be doing.

@@Gina19876 I don't seem to understand how what you're saying is counter to what I've said. If someone needs to or can get a restraining order (as mentioned by @CB-Kj8ed it is not often a simple, guaranteed or even always helpful thing) then that restraining order is still about them protecting themselves. So how does that 'disagree' with what I said.

Josh I grew up independent fundamental baptist and I was taught to argue my religion since kindergarten, we went out twice a week to knock on doors and try to “lead people to Jesus” from the time I was very young until I chose not to do it anymore when I was in my late teens. Everything about the way you were saying Mormons raise their kids applies to my upbringing as well. I only say that to let you know that this type of brainwashing can be in any religion.

Same. I grew up in a Christian household and from the time I was a Tween until I left the church 20 years ago (which was hell getting out of) I was forced to go "door knocking". We would even walk through the malls in our town and stop everyone we came across to tell them about God & invite them to church. I hated doing it but didn't have a choice. My mom still attends that church and still "door knocks". I cringe thinking about it. So glad I got out.

@@emmy0804 We used to have young men with white shirts, ties and black pants knocking on our doors. We had a network where we would call each other to warn that the Mormons were out there! Their freaky badges are creepy and their skinny starved look on their faces! I can't understand why parents would pay to send their young kids out there to risk their lives knocking on doors, The creepy white vans waiting for them to report back to them! How do these families afford to pay for their kids for these missions? Do they get more from the church if they do everything expected? What if they can't afford these requirements? One male neighbor always talked to them and said he felt sorry for them. He was always kind to them. He asked them a lot of questions about their mission and was surprised how far away from home they were! I am surprised that they aren't attacked by rough people especially in this time we are in. I am an ex-Mormon. At a very early age I learned how screwed up the church was. My mom was Mormon and my dad was Catholic. A lot of higher ups in the church treated my mom like crap because of that. There was another couple in the church. The wife was a sweet person and her husband had been released from prison for plotting to murder his wife (he and his girlfriend were plotting to murder the wife). Because he was a Mormon they overlooked what he did at treated him like he could walk on water. What I got out of learning about that was, if you’re a Mormon who plots with his girlfriend to murder his wife, you get a pass, but if you’re a good person who does right by the church and you’re married to someone outside of the religion, you’re nothing. That (among other hypocrisies) are the reasons why I left the church at 15 (it’s been 43 years). I do have to say that when you are little children in the church, you do learn from the Bible (Sunday school teachers would read to us from the Bible and later when we were old enough to read, we would read it ourselves). I can honestly say I have never read The Book of Mormon, nor do I have any desire to. I don’t ever regret leaving the church. I don’t miss it and I am smart enough to know that I do not have to be in a church in order for God to hear my prayers.

I used to work with a sweet girl that worked at one of those camps during her summer break. She said she reported abuse both physical and sexual that she had witnessed! She said she kept notes with dates and names and mailed the information home to her mother. She told her mother to find out more information about the camp. She said after her mother found out that it was a church backed camp, She called their headquarters and said she needed to get her daughter home because of a family emergency. She had a book full of kids that were abused and all of the names abusers by then. They eventually closed that camp down but she said she knew that they'd change their name and would be out there abusing more kids! She said they were nice kids with problems and the trauma they received only made their problems worse! She said that she would never forget that horrible summer! She said that the camp was in the mountains and they never told them what state they were in. Her mother showed her letters were mailed from Utah!

I was once a temple recommend carrying Mormon. I left in 2017; however, my parents and siblings are still very active and regularly attend the temple. I have major issues with the doctrine, problems with the culture, and frustrations with the leadership. I agree that there are many in the LDS church that can be called extreme. I also agree it is a cult. However, not once has my family ostracized me for leaving the church. They love and support me and have NEVER tried to convince me to return. Most importantly, not one of my Mormon family members would ever support the things Jodi was doing and none of them believe in forcing (or punishing) sin out. If it is about corruption - YES - I believe the leaders are corrupt, the culture is toxic, and the founder was willing to distort religion to give himself permission to take child brides, get power, etc. Secrecy and information control should always be massive red flags. However, it is important to remember that not all members of a the Mormon church are the type of people you are describing.

Salvation is a gift so that no one can boast... No after all you can do.. A properly functioning transparent church should be like a hospital for tbe sinners - completely transparent about "how the sausage is made." Ruby's brother Beau saw Jodi as a client and denounces her & Ruby started out using Jodi as a therapist for Chad in the beginning.

I was raised Christiaan and asked questions all the time. The adults if they didn't know would tell me they needed to research and get back to me. When I was 12 or 13 and studying Egypt I asked my mom how I was to know which god was real, she said she taught me what she believes and gave me the tools I needed but I had to deicide that for myself because faith is personal. She 100% correct faith is a personal choice and not passed down through parents like brown eyes

There was a push by the Mormons for members to have blogs and now vlogs to show how wonderful their lives are. We see how that went.

I believe their 13:37 story!! But…..you can’t sit and rip on the Mormon church!! You don’t know the religion unless you’ve lived it! I have lived it, I am a normal person that has a great Christ believing community! I grew up in Southern California, now have lived in Washington. Outside of Utah Mormons/Arizona whom are very strict and fundamentalists. Stop ripping on a faith you don’t know!!?????

Mormon bishops do not have to disclose abuse . However interestingly..I had a Mormon Bishop who was a teacher and teachers are mandated reporters so he had to report abuse under his teacher hat and not his Mormon bishop hat.

Jessi did report this to the American Fork (UT) police in 2010 (police report has been located) and they did nothing about it. I think UT tv station KUTV did a story on the fact the police didn’t follow up or pass on the report to CPS.

Ruby franke was worried about content when her kids started school that'd where all of this shit fight started. She was called to the temple when one of her vlogs had some unmormon adds attached. She filmed herself running to the temple. When she left the temple she said she needed to spend more time at the temple. That's when I think she started her work with Jodie Hildebrand.

I never really comment, but I've been following this from the jump and I HAVE to say...... your video had my attention more than ANY I've watched Well, I watched Jesse's full interview and was so jawdroppingly dumbfounded. Both of these videos opened my eyes to so much. Awesome job.... IMO. Edited to add.... Jesse did go to the police one of the times she ran away. It's so sad. And scary.

I worked with a man who left the morman church with his immediate family, his inlaws had his wife and kids followed and they were trying to take the wife and kids back. They decided to cut off all contact with her side because of it. It was creepy for a while that he would leave for work and people from the church would knock on the wife's door trying to get her and the kids back. They would follow her to other lications and approach her. They moved far away to stop this.

I had a hard listening to her video. I came from a time growing up in a Christian church that used to hold prayer meetings to cast out demons. If you had migraine or depression it was a demon that caused it. Laying on of hands ect.. My mom was really into this. We went to conventions with hundreds of people and we would be there all day. This was so hard to grow up in. My mom was abusive on top of it all. Jody reminds me of her. I wasn't abused in that way but my mom could get anyone to believe everything she said. I don't believe in the church or religion but my faith in God still stands.

This sounds similar to my mother in law . She would beat my husband until she felt she beat the sin out of him . She also says God tells her things , she said he told her I live in an evil castle surrounded by an evil wizard who controls me . I was 10 weeks pregnant when my husband and I got married , she was furious about our sin and was mad when our son was born healthy ! She’s referred to him as satan spawn due to our sin . We’ve been married for over 31 years but we no longer speak to her

The most important part of this interview, IMO regarding the eight passengers case is that Jessi “confessed” to the same things Ruby is claiming R did plus many more to make the abuse stop. Jodi would tell them “if you just admit ___, this will stop” so she would. It’s very telling in regards to these poor kids and even though I didn’t believe the accusations Ruby made in family court already, I really don’t know and feel as though it’s an explanation as to where it came from. Jessi said Jodi said they had several A’s, was addicted to self pleasuring was an addict etc despite never having sex, not even knowing that self pleasuring was at the time, and had never even had a drop of alcohol let alone drugs. I agree Jessi’s interview is the most important one so far in this case and they are so strong, articulate and I am so glad they were brave enough to talk.
