@@kingsmoke9350 they have great restaurants mostly french and middle eastern... "English food" itself is not exactly winning any awards. Stay away from jelly eels... however the breakfast is good. Like southern food from the u.s. i personally like shepherd's pie, Yorkshire pudding, then you have working class national dishes like pie and mash or fish and chips. Just gotta go to the right spot. It's kinda like mexican food. You gotta go to an authentic restaurant known for that one dish. You don't go to tacobell or chipotle for al pastor.
@@zoroaster3053 English food isn’t wining any awards. Probably best to check how many English chefs have multiple Michelin stars chief. English gastronomy is up there globally. Fish and chips, pie and mash - you’re just mentioning generic dross. English a la carte is elite level. Educate yourself
There's a breakfast joint down the street from my house called Joey's and they make the egg sandwich exactly how he described. He opens at 5....out by noon.
Restaurants are a hard dollar. A lot of moving parts and every one of them can hemorrhage money. And that doesn’t include the rising cost of food. And good luck finding a consistent staff. I’ve seen restaurants fold after 2 weeks. There are definitely some lucrative restaurants out there, but owning a restaurant is a lot of work for a moderate reward.
One of the things I want to do before I die is just shake joeys and lees hands and tell them both thank you because this podcast has helped me survive through everything.

I think what’s holding him back, other than the points addressed in this video, is Joey’s come to terms with his own mortality. He’s a 350 pound 55 year old. He doesn’t have a ton of time left. He would be leaving his restaurant to his wife and daughter. You can’t leave a single mom to run a business, who would watch the child? Sure people would help out but it’s no way to live.

Watch him in the other podcast he does. Completely different Seems like a different person. I think in the presence of Joey he becomes a quivering mass of insecurity and naivity.
