It's always people who are not affected by a heavy police presence with these ideas. You defund the police because they don't stop crime. They deal with crime after the fact. Here in Chicago our police budget goes up every year. THEY DON'T STOP CRIME!!! why do they have military equipment? Take that money and you invest in programs in the community that keep the crimes from happening in the first place. Folks in the community communicating with citizens who know when there's a problem and who work to fix the situation. I'm from Chicago if you've never lived here or a similar city you don't know what you're talking about.
If the budget goes up and nothing changes, where is the fault? You say it lays in the lack of social program funding while the glorification of gang culture and mentality is rampant in said areas, have you taken corruption of your own community or local law enforcement into account? How long are you going to say it's his or her's fault while you do jack shit as a community to change your mentality as a whole? As a matter of fact California has started legalising looting up towards 1000 dollars these days, how fucking more tolerant do you want it before society starts imploding?? I fucking pitty you for growing up in such an environment and i wouldnt want to trade with you any fucking day of the week, but somewhere along the line we'll have to start pointing the finger inward instead of outwards. Of course cops can’t possibly stop crime, but the threat of incarceration is supposed to. The problem in many black communities is that the DA’s let the bad apples, the violent kneegrow’s back on the street. If evil people don’t fear going to jail, what happens is all too predictable
