I'm low in Conscientiousness and high in Neuroticism. Not a great combo. It has got waaaaay better since I started scheduling my time, making (reasonable!) deals with myself, and cutting out the paths of least resistance to instant gratification stuff. Start small, build good habits then keep calm and carry on. Oh yeah, and do some shrooms apparently

That’s great that you improved in that area! It is said that the other personality factors in the Big 5 model (openness, extroversion, agreeableness and neuroticism) are not easily manipulated, but conscientiousness is a trait we can obtain by choice. Looks like you’re living proof. 🙂
@marielagoldberg2524
@marielagoldberg2524 2 года назад
@@darakristi Actually from what i understood by watching other lectures you can work on all 5 factors (except maybe neuroticism, although i'm not sure), it's just that you're naturally more prone to be higher in some and lower in others. If i remember correctly Jordan himself has said that it's a good idea to observe and try to learn from people who are opposite to you in one of the personality spectrums.

I suspect that my low consciousness has some direct relationship to my high neuroticism (if I do NOT do the task at hand I can be poised to act on any new crisis that presents itself) but also modified by my high openness: If I delay the task at hand I can gather more information/run more simulations which will either result in me being able to do the task way better or re-position it lower on my list of properties. Does this ring true for anyone else?

Great stuff. I Love his earlier stuff as he's delivering it like it's coming at you in a college class setting, ie. not arranged neatly. It's very real and for me very educational. PS For me!, in relation to his dependency, this is only in line with his hero archeytype.Dr Peterson has always said clearly in his interviews he has suffered with a type of depression which looks like genetic as it is prone in his family history. He also openly 100% supports getting medical intervention of needed.The stress of him putting his head above the parapet, speaking his truth, (which resonates with so many), his unbelievable world tour and defending his attacks daily by the media, his peers and others, maintaining his positive message in front of his audiences and the terrible news about the love of his life and strongest supporter , his wife, being so ill has struck him down. He's fallible, he's humane, he has his flaw and his dragon has got him in its grasp. BUT just like any modern antihero (gladiator/braveheart /Harry potter etc) falling with a fatal flaw and being open and truthful about it makes him more real to me. I can identify with the great Peterson!!! This he has allowed me to think and believe with all my shit and flaws I carry, that too can get up and face my crap and start to make a difference, even if it is to start with my wee house and dog and small universe...Anyway that's my rant guys..be safe:-)

Well than you have to be careful about obsessivness. Every trait comes with pros and cons. And obsessivness is the big con of conscientiousness. Im high in orderliness, which made me an unbearable roommate, since i have been disgusted by everything. A friend of mine is extremly high in industriousness. And it is sadly close to impossible to hang out with him. He works literally all the time. Its nice to work with him though. At least until he projects his expectations on his coworkers.

I would assume there would be a strong negative correlation between the two but it is important to consider the facets of of each of these two traits. Conscientiousness relates to facets of self-efficacy (feelings of self-control) and achievement-striving (internal motivation). In contrast, neuroticism relates to facets of depression, linking it to feelings of defeat, low-energy and low-motivation, which would contradict the major aspects of conscientiousness. I could see how the neuroticism facet of anxiety could be related to the conscientiousness facet of cautiousness, though! That’s about it.

But when I just let go then those burdens or emotional burdens are okay byebye, but now I'm low on conscientiousness as well as high in neuroticism. But what I haven't realized is that I may have had adhd all those times. Obviously they may somehow be correlated in some sense but maybe there's more than meets the ey

Conscientiousness has something to do with implementation Of abstraction into behavior. Abstraction requires that you remove the abstraction from the behavior and run simulations on the abstraction in an imaginative space so that you can investigate the consequences of different courses of action in the absence of acting them out.

Psychopaths murder life and thus are chaos. Anger is the righteous response to protect life. Intelligence is the integration of empathy towards mates and protecting children in society. The mission of all intelligent life is to destroy life that doesn't think life should exist (that's chaos towards intelligent life design). God is more orderly and just to his children because he thinks it is life that is important and worth keeping. Chaos is pure evil and the fight between them will last forever. Guilt suggests that your a good person that will evolve intelligent processes to protect your family better in the future. Pure intelligence is an integration of all good awareness. Adding a different suffix & hearing the pronunciation (vs looking at that spelling) throws me off a bit too. I know its a common word & not to be dramatic or anything but when's the last time u even heard of that word? Bc for me, I dont even hear it alot... if at all. signs of the universe/ my bubbles. Mind over matter. Mind and imagination with openness to being guilt prone produces the best possibly organized outcome in the future. Unawareness or stateliness in oneself is neutral and good or evil are relative but the behavior of truth is highly organized in consciousness of simple building blocks of energy. Body will eventually leave mind. Consciousness energy may be just pure eternal energy or not. How will energy survive forever without form. Life never lives forever maybe but each generation will become more ancient. But even ancient life can't exist forever with matter because of information corruption. Maybe a collapse of mortal life into a singularity of awareness. A singularity that might have an inflationary expansion constant for the big bang. A tale of hopeful sentience and a continuously expanding universe. But the world is full of problems that immediately impact us and so that should be dealt with because all conscious life deserves better and needs to be taught to learn and respect other intelligent life with openness and transparency. Impossibilities become reality and science fiction becomes reality because of the mind. One should strive to be objective and opinionated on the welfare of others and non-intervene sometimes to help indirectly. Last Post

1:30 humans are NOT the only creatures that work. I'm no zoologist but ants collect and store food for winter. I'm sure there are countless other animals that might be better examples than ants.

I don't know if ants feel pleasure, which they can then give up for some future or intangible reward in the way people do

Interesting comment. I think what Jordan means is that animals don't do this consciously. Ants don't store food for the winter because they know the winter is cold and has no food, they store food for the winter only because their genes tell them to store food in some sense, while it seems that humans have to decide when to store food based on their knowledge and a more or less conscious decision. Although perhaps one could argue that we humans merely imagine that we consciously decide to work when its actually way more unconscious than we think.

Jordan became unconscientious, concerning applied psychology, as a strategy to keep his father distracted away from thoughts and conversations that make any real difference in the matter of what people are dealing with and really care about. Jordan's father Walt relentlessly projected (guilt) onto others as he misperceived that they were making him feel bad. Walt relentlessly feels bad because he is trapped in the constraints of meaning that he became in reaction to the example and domination of a father who was a conflict over nearly everything that matters to human beings. Applied psychology is the translation of behavior patterns into conscious distinctions and causal links.

He sounds full of anxiety himself 😂😂 furthermore, it's like he's not concentrated at all, giving some information which isn't that much relevant. It wasn't insightful at all... Other psychologists talk way better than him, are way more eloquent than him. The impression which he gave me was like he's a client of psychologist himself, went through some websites, memorized a bunch of stuff and now he's delivering it while he's mighty anxious and not concentrated.
