@@Tankiann One of the reasons why words are so powerful... they can change a person for both the better and the worse. Experienced it myself in elementary school, where I was part of a class full of designer clothed children as one with patched jeans and the like. That the (main) classroom teachers were both fresh from university didn't help. My mother told me once that I changed from a smiling and laughing kid into a quiet one. I was the odd one out and got hammered for it, not all the time and definitely not by all (had a classfoto where I scratched some faces of those that bullied... good that I lost it) but often enough that it stung and since I had a late start into speaking due to infected ears I had no defense against words with my own words. So I closed up as to not letting meanspirited words hit me... took a few years to open up again. And to get back to the "perception of self" part... one can in my situation either perceive it as oneself not being like the others and kind of abandon/change oneself in hopes to fit in or one can be stubborn and try to weather the storm and not change to fit in, but maybe to stick out further and create a personality based on it.

When you realise that you are too different from the people around you, one option is to embrace who you are and look for like minded people to have meaningful relationships with. The problem with this is that, if you intent to function well in society, it is essential to have your voice heard when it matters. This requires you to have a reasonable social standing in your workplace as well as in your place of residence. This brings me to the other option; get into a process of understanding your personality traits and identify the ones that are preventing you from being a functioning member in your society. I think JBPs self authoring programme is intended towards this end. This process takes time and will be painful and anxiety inducing, but you come out of this more complete than you were before ( although I am not implying a definite end point). This is not to say that you fake your personality, rather, it is about the belief in your ability to adapt, if you are willing to put in the work/sacrifice required for this. I would say that choosing the first option may not be inherently wrong. But, if you have a family (or plan to) and a regular job and live in a mainstream place, it would cost you highly (not necessarily monetary) to live like that. To conclude, I think that the second option, although difficult is the right way for most people who feel different and alienated. The important aspect is to have patience and take it slow as failures are unavoidable. Believe in your ability to adapt and change while recognising your limitations and most importantly being kind to yourself so that you don't become a tyrant to yourself.

That’s pretty apt. It doesn’t matter what you want or what you feel, societies have expectations and a modus operandi. It’s built around the majority for good reason. It promotes order and stability. If you can’t find a way to adapt to it, your only viable option is separation and that is an incredibly difficult path to walk.

Society can go jump. Speaking my truth is meaning and purpose enough for me. I will be what I am, others be damned. Accept me or not, I do not care. To pursue truth even when it leads you beyond the bounds of others is the noblest of causes. To wander far into the wilderness to wrestle fire from the hands of Gods, that is my calling, that is my nature. I will 99% fail - but that is what it is, that is what I am. You can keep your withering laurels.

@@nagihangot6133 I have to say I think they do both, creating visions as well, hence master of visions, both being able to create visions such as for setting or visualizing goals or creating manifestations to be brought to life. They have to know how to do it themselves otherwise they may not trust outsourced visions. Of course being able to trust yourself and help fight off negative energies, I assume you’d have to be grounded in the skill of producing an antidote to unwanted visions or the power to stay focused and in line with positivity. I hope I made that somewhat clear, don’t want to be too specific or vague.

I first became aware that I was different than everyone else when I was 5 years old in kindergarten. We were asked to draw a house, a tree, the sun & some clouds. I drew a 3 dimensional house with windows, curtains, door, pitched roof and a chimney with smoke coming out of it. I drew a winding path that was broader at the bottom & narrowed as it reached the door. I drew a horizon line halfway up behind the house. I drew billowy clouds with the sun peeking out from behind them, above & behind the house. To the left, I drew a tree with limbs, branches & clumps of leaves & a few roots exposed above tufts of grass at the base. I drew a squirrel hole on the trunk and a few apples on the tree. Then I looked around the room at the 30 other kid’s drawings and was shocked to find no one’s drawing looked like mine! Every one of them drew a lollipop tree with a squirrel hole & apples, a one sided house on top of the horizon line, a straight path that looked like a ladder, circles for clouds and a sun coming out of the top left corner of the paper! I thought there was something wrong with me or my eyesight! 30 kids must not be wrong!? So, I turned my paper over & copied their drawings so no one would think I was crazy! Our teacher had been circling the room as she told us what items to include in our drawings & had been looking at each one as she passed by. When she saw my new drawing, she asked me what happened to my first drawing. I told her that mine was wrong because everyone else’s was the same except mine. I turned it over so she could see my finished drawing. She held it up for all to see & told the class that they were all wrong and mine was correct! Then she took us outside to look at actual trees & clouds & buildings with all the details I had drawn. This was a huge eye opener for me to not follow the crowd. To trust what I see. Not to be like everyone else. I never forgot this lesson. I was just 5 years old!

I’ve tried to fit in with people for 35 years and this year I’ve decided to give up. Now I’m just leaving society, I might work on a couple of personal projects but mainly that’s due to pass time while waiting to die. I’d probably take my life if it wasn’t so painful, sounds bleak but it’s actually logical as life is just suffering and struggling. I came from a poor, odd family, got bullied at school, did a lot of drugs (found connections with humans then until the drug years ended so realised that was artificial friendships) then I went to uni late, did exceptionally well in engineering and earned a tonne of money. Spent all that on dumb things I thought would make me happy, none of it did. Recently, I lost all that because of some morons I worked with but I think I’m happier without all that stuff and the pressure. I feel like I’ve tried everything life has to offer now. It was enjoyable when I was younger (especially when I tried good ecstasy back in the early 2000s - an experience I still to this day regard as the peak of my life, overshadowing all other achievements that a normal person strives for) The only thing I haven’t tried is having a kid which most people say is what life is about but I think that’s just cruel in this climate and how bad the world is getting. The kid will suffer as we did, struggle to find jobs, see the planet is dying, then watch their parent die before dying themselves, etc. I think if we’re honest the only people who enjoy life are either on drugs (which is transient) or are too stupid to have thought about it properly. I believe if you aren’t depressed and anxious, you haven’t thought hard enough. Even though it’s horrible to feel so alone, so down and so sick of listening to stupid people everywhere you look, I’d still say we’re better off being intelligent and alone. I would never want to be like these other people just because they ‘fit in’ better. People are idiots more than ever now, sheepish, judgemental herd mentality with lives so void of meaning that they find your originality offensive and have nothing better to do than live on social media to reassure themselves (I don’t class YT as social media, if used effectively, it’s the perfect educational tool). My only advice after all this time is, get out of the rat race ASAP as it will take your soul being forced to deal with these people. Even if that means living on the breadline for a few years while you come up with better ways of living. The typical life is no way to live, working for 60 years, just to buy some overpriced bricks while being a slave to a bunch of useless, hateful, closed minded zombies for some company that doesn’t care about you. Find love, peace, nature, good food, etc and spend time working on what you like even if it doesn’t make you much money. You’ll be richer in more meaningful ways. If you want a truly meaningful task and struggle to come up with something, Ive figured the most important problem, way ahead of climate change, etc. Is the brain. Study things like neuralink or CRISPR and help out in those areas. Reprogramming humans to not be so flawed, stupid, etc is the only way to fix this and if you think hard enough then all problems in our experience arise from issues with the brain. Whether that be psychological (depression, psychopathy, etc), physical (spinal injury, etc), even climate change (lack of empathy for future generations and greed for resources, etc), it all boils down to the flaws in the human brain. Good luck fellow loners, I wish you all well 😘

Scary how relatable your words are, you sound like a smart guy so i'll try to leave some words of encouragement. You have to admit that happiness is a choice. Once you truly believe that your happiness is a choice despite how fucked up society has become, then you will be able to overcome your suffering. But you have to believe it is possible is the first step. If we are intelligent we should be able to figure out how to be happy. Easier said than done but i think well get there. Best wishes.
@yourpersonaldatadealer2239
@yourpersonaldatadealer2239 3 года назад
Jerry thank you for the words of encouragement but I just don’t feel like that’s the case any more. I used to think like that but recently so many negative things have happened in my life that I’ve come to believe that isn’t the case. The numbers just don’t work out in my favour. There’s only one of me and although I can try to remain happy and ignore the other people it’s just impossible since there are so many of them compared. It’s a losing battle, one I’ve already lost. I’m always searching for answers though so I’m always open to ideas but I doubt anything short of re-engineering humans at a fundamental level will help.

I was always an eccentric loner, for as long as I can remember. It's the main reason I had to quit social media years ago as it amplified any feelings of difference. I've learnt how vitally important it is to still try to remain connected with others even though it is near impossible to be accepted wholly for who you are. There are only a small handful you will find who can do this. 'I would rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not'

Same here. I've always been a loner and it used to really bother me. At some point, I realized that most people I meet won't understand or even like me, but I can still be happy with only myself. Now, I just try to be there for other people and not expect anything in return. I make an effort to understand my coworkers, family members, and peers and enjoy giving and doing something kind for them, even if they don't acknowledge it or give me anything back. Having this mindset that it's okay to give without receiving helps me to be content and at peace with who I am and what I have. I quit social media too. It gets me weird looks from my peers sometimes, but it doesn't do anything for me. No number of followers can ever take the place of the one or two close friends I've always wanted, and it made me feel like I couldn't be accepted unless I changed myself and became someone I wasn't, and someone I wouldn't respect or even like much. Anyways, I completely agree. Staying connected is always important. You can be happy even if you're not fully understood.

I'm quite unhappy, I always seem to think, say and do things that are different to what the majority of people are thinking, saying and doing. It's got to the point that I avoid people because I know that I'm always going to be the odd one out. I don't socialise at all and I have big problems with maintaining relationships although I used to find it quite easy to initiate a new relationship. I really don't know why this is and I think about it a lot, then I start judging myself and passing verdicts on my sanity. I've never had a " best friend " that has lasted more than a couple of years at the most. Like I said earlier, all of this is making me feel unhappy and sometimes I feel that I am completely different from every other person on this planet. I refuse to initiate any sort of relationship with someone of the opposite sex because, even if it did last for a while, I know that it's going to end badly, and I just couldn't face another broken heart. I know that I should be seeking professional advice but I'm not even confident enough to make the first step. I'm a 62 year old man with two divorces behind me, I've got issues with alcohol plus loads more stuff that I can't put down in words, but I just skip through life ignoring it and pretending that I'm a normal, well adjusted person. Is there anyone else out there who thinks like I do.

Haven't had divorces yet because I haven't gotten married yet but here is the thing. I have accepted the world for what it is, life becomes a bit more easier that way. You have start meditating, it will help you big time. By meditation I'm not talking about the ones we see in the movies, I'm talking about just sitting around enjoying some music and taking some none alchoholic wine just by yourself and just empty and free your mind like nothing exists in the world but you. Do that often for some few days and you will see the benefit. Try not to take alcohol during this time but rather do something you enjoy like reading, listening to music, taking pictures, tennis, gulf, Polo riding, watching soccer or basketball or rugby or any sports and during such time you will definitely have human contacts which will stimulate your emotions and then you go home or sit at a park and do your meditation. You will be much happirr and getting relationships will be much easier that way. Go for therapy. Well just a small tip I think will help you. I wish you all the best.

Yes there is someone here who thinks like you do. Perhaps your younger self of 33. For me the key was to: - make sure I truly understand my own neurology (giftedness, autism, that sort of thing) - realize what kind of household I came from (passive dad, hypercritical mom) And then the 'solution' to the "not confident enough to seek professional advice" thing turned out to be to reach out in a more low-grade way to people around me. There is a telephone line in my country called "The Listening Line" where other non-therapist humans will pick up and act like a human being and converse with you about anything you want, anonymously. This helped me become less dependent on dad, resulting in my actually talking more with my dad / friend about everyday events such as some social interaction with the car repair man that is about to go south. We would analyze quite extensively what exactly is going on and come up with a new way of behaving that would maximize my chances of saving the interaction. And it works. Once I did this a couple of times, I realized that I don't want to live life alone and that you really should and want to talk to others and ask them for help, even with seemingly little things. As a result of learning these new social-emotional skills, I'm now saving more interactions and relationships from ruin. It is like.. up to a point, you can therapy yourself. Heck, a therapist would merely enhance what (process) is already there. Therapists can't just.. cast Therapy on you, lol. So I'd say: find ways to open up to the world in ways that feel safe and attainable to you. And then work your way "up" from there. Eventually you may or may not set foot in the "official" therapy world. But you can also create that kind of world (healing environment) for yourself, long before or without doing so.

also the tendencie to interllectualize everything to the Point of alienation sometimes it's choice, Just because you are smarter or surpass "there" Level doesn't mean that you have to Always prove obssesively that you're the smartest, sometimes it's to reconise the Potential & learning curve in everyone, i think Most people are not perticualy the try to be Always perticuarly born smart they become "smart" by down playing others you Not also give them the Feeling they never will be smart or getting smarter they also hate being around you, better is that they Like being around you because you don't of yourself being smart and assume in others more Potential that they show currently have, because i think even the smartest people are limited in a way and there a many ways where you can Show being smart not just one, it's Not about Prestige or Status when you realize that you are all one and those transcence your own feeling of smartness & uniqueness because you realize you're ordinary but Not that special, the smartest people have often the biggest Ego's and there are not really wise.
@Nuclear_Man_D
@Nuclear_Man_D 3 года назад
@@j_freed Sometimes you can't. But eventually it gets better. This is (or was at least in my case) due to inadequacies and temporary limitations in your environment. As your environment changes and you get better at skills, your opportunities to have peers changes. Sometimes for better, other times for worse. Sometimes you don't have the power to change your environment for a long time (during k-12 schooling for example, for those that really can't find others like them). Eventually you have the power to change it again. Young people like me also need time to get better socially. If you have felt alone and alienated you also tend to have worse social skills. But that improves over time too. So in some ways you have to "graduate" to a new group, but sometimes the group you had before no longer worked. So there is a chunk of time where you don't fit anywhere. I know from experience. It takes time. My advice for anyone in this sort of limbo state is to remember what is important to you in a social sense, stay strong, and stay patient. Find ways to build social skills, and work on finding a better environment for yourself if/when you can. Things will get better, I promise!

Why they are and what they portray. I see the insecurity, self - entitlement, ego, which all in turn is driven by lack of self and acceptance. Just wanting to look great she look powerful etc. I keep out of it. It’s low quality living and I know what’s behind all that shit. Whether I’m judged on being judgmental for what I just said, I don’t give a fuck. I’m allowed to stay away from shit that disgusts me.

Guys I thought of an interesting solution to feeling somewhat isolated, depressed and anxious because of not fitting on with society, as well as being very inquisitive as to why people do things. I seriously think that because of this, we isolate ourselves and therefore deprive ourselves of our emotional need of belonging. There is the common and mass society that we could join if we wanted to, but to join that society means to abandon our own principles and to consciously conform to that culture. Personally, I find todays culture to be extremely narcissistic and psychopathic. And so the solution I propose is to create and/or find a group of people that share the same mindset as you. There are not many people, but I do believe that the root of our negative emotion is the fact that we are not satisfying our innate need for belonging to a group because of the reasons mentioned above. The society we are presented with may not be one we choose, but I believe we must choose some sort of society to be able to function at optimal mental health. What do you guys think?
@DanielPembrink

This is so true, I realized I needed the social aspect and connections to be successful so I joined a procrastination program. it was expensive for a student like me but the membership is for life and I am in touch with many people who want to be more efficient and better themself, where we support each other while sharing what works, doesn't work and trying new methods to conquer procrastination and become more efficient in order to archive our visions, dreams, and goals in life. I choose the procrastination category because that is a universal denominator that can be used for people to connect and relate to each other.

Thank you guys ❤ When we are part of a group, our ideas and values are validated. In essence, WE are validated. Just now you vaildated me, and I validated you. It felt so so good. It is a human need to be loved and accepted. This is also why i see social media to be so prevelant and addicting, it satisfies our deepest need. On second revision though, I think belonging to a group is only one of many variables that go into our overall well-being. Think of 15 candles standing side by side in a dark room, some bigger, and some smaller. The total amount of light emitted from the combined candles represents how much positive emotion we have. Belonging to a group is probably one of the bigger and more important candles, and when lit, contributes largely to our emotional well-being. Other candles are still very important though. These could be physical health, hygiene, nutrition, sleep, career satisfaction, etc. This is how I see life and mental health. So if you are feeling down, depressed and unmotivated, you may want to look at what activities it is that you spend your energy and willpower on. If all your candles are off, start with excercise. This will give you the most efficient and best return on your emotional investment.
@DanielPembrink
@DanielPembrink 4 года назад
Vasco Gamero interesting way to see life different qualities in the candle analogy. mine is more of a responsability circle around me that shrinks and grows depending on my actions and competence and finding ways to be more efficient. Each "cake slice" I add into the circle is a task/skill or virtue that I want to focus on. I refined them and choose to focus on 7 common denominating things that underlies everything that I need to master to get what I want in life. Other things like family and relationship will follow and fall into place once I master these. 1. physical strenght and good man (enbody my protective masculine instinct of being a protector, be a good man in etics and possess good masculine qualities) 2. Learn to be an assertive communicator 3. be emotional resilient to hardship and setbacks by using stoicism. 4. be financially educated( know how to earnmoney, keep, protect, save, invest it. not to mention avoid pay taxes in a legal way. 5. effectove networking with other successful people to sat updated, help and support. 6. Have a good physical precence, (be self aware of the social and nonverbal ques I emitt to ther people and how I carry my self, look, dressed, eye contact, shaking hands. exedera) 7. Continual education, stay humble and sharp, be handy, in different skills, learn wood carving, plumming, auto repair, surivival skills, leadership, exedera.

Actually, he's not that smart; he's just very elocuent and convincing for most people. But he's interpretations and comments show he's narrow-minded and doesn't look deep enough into phenomena. Take, for example, the comment "it's bad enough to be different". He's implying, and even encouraging, that, in order not to feel uncomfortable or rejected, people better comply with that which society considers "normal" and acceptable, so you can fit in and mould to dominant cultural stereotypes. How is that better, if you have to suppress and repress who you are and could be? It's sick! It takes courage to be different and people should be proud of it. Eventually, you'll find a more authentic community to fit in.

I’m 73 and to a fair degree have always “marched to a different drum”. Often I feel that the critics and nay-sayers are my best motivators and bring out my best efforts, I have also had a long history of hearing loss which though limiting in some areas also has an upside in that I can often focus more fully on a subject when needed. I have the greatest regard for true independent thinkers , they don’t come along that often and they give us so much if they can offer a new perspective on some aspect of life. My other great interest is the management of chaos, this I think is one of the most worthwhile mental pursuits one can consider as at one time or another we will all face a chaotic situation. There are processes that can be learnt that will really help us turn chaos into order. Having dealt with both fire and flood I have seen the value of good chaos management. A quote I read somewhere said bravery runs about to the limit of our training ; l’d certainly prefer to be well trained over being blindly brave, l know which is more effective and useful. Being different has an effect, most people will not want to talk to you, most people are also shallow and uninteresting, but those that do want to talk to you will either be your best friends, the love of your life, or someone you will hate with all that you are. Difference is a filter, and your opinions and views are what allows someone past it, often because they think similar, or are equally as odd as you are. This can breed loneliness, we are told repeatedly that we must "fit" into society, reality is we need only function in it. It's not so much that we are alone, or that we are different, or that we don't fit in, it's that we feel alone, that we can't relate to most people. We in a way cause our own loneliness, by simply being unable to think like everyone else. Ultimately I'd say do not worry, we all find our group, the people we belong with, and because we all know its value, or should know, we are more likely to stick together, which in today's society loyalty and commitment seem to be absent.

To get close to others, you have to realize that everybody is the same inside. Our brains (the hardware) all work the same, they are biochemical computers. People have different thought patterns and are saturated in different pursuits, skills and interests. But at the deepest level, we all deal with survival, procreation, getting access to resources by ourself or by intergrating into a subset of society. You might find people in similar challenges as you. You might find comfort in the fact that you're not worse off than a lot of others. You might find stability and security by investing your energy into some society and getting powerful support in exchange. I think CoachRedPill said security is when you know you have people around you and they will definitely catch you when you fall, they will be there when you need them. A friendship or any relationship is an investment. You have to put forth something from your own pocket to receive back in the long run. Give love and support because you know it's the right thing, don't expect things back. Not all but some people will step up and do their part when you need them to.

The first step in being a friend to someone else, is to be a friend to yourself. Treat yourself fairly, be honest with yourself, and try to lift yourself up - to be the best you that you can be. _[To avoid vagueness, that means figuring out who you want to be, the sort of person you'd respect, and then... as opportunities present themselves, encourage yourself to do the things that get you where you want to be. Along the way, mistakes will be made - so don't forget to forgive yourself either. Self-forgiveness is not the same as making excuses, it's recognizing a need for change, resolving to change, actually making the change, and moving forward while letting go of resentment over a misstep.]_ Once you can do all of that for yourself, you'll know what is needed to be a friend to someone else. Be advised though, very few people undergo this level of self-scrutiny. Most people can count the number of friends they have on one hand. If you see someone surrounded by friends... somebody's lying. Either their "friends" are lying about who they are, or the popular person is lying to themselves about their relationships. Either way, they're in for a severe letdown, and probably when they need friends the most. Expecting to have more than 5 real friends, is probably an unreasonable expectation. Good Luck. 👍

I think it's important to separate being different from not understanding your difference. We are all different and it is hard to properly open up and share that with others but I think a huge disservice plays out if I try to tell myself those around me don't understand and cannot comprehend my thought process. We all literally see the world so differently in little meticulous and nuanced ways. But what I have learned through hours upon hours in daily understanding of myself is the more I develop an idea and foundation of who I am and what I believe in the more I become my own person, confident and individual to those around me, but also this better understanding with myself very directly translates to a more transparent relationship with those around me. Having a sense of difference from those around me, especially family, is an important tug my soul is trying to get me to notice to better establish that connection with my consciousness and the pure divinity we all share. Following that difference chops away little by little the commonalities and blindness that would otherwise stir and propagate slowly leading way to what it is I am meant to do. However while chopping away those commonalities and shared ground will reinvent and establish a more fulfilling life founded on structured and intentional thinking, it is a VERY challenging and isolating path. If you feel a sense of difference from those around you, feel empowered and chase it. Always build bridges and authentic connection between you and another person instead of allowing these misunderstood differences to blur your relationships because we all have our differences. We all simply find out in different times and show them in different ways. Understand yours, grow, and connect. Best of luck to you all in your lives 👃🏽🧡.
