I'm an old white guy. I have come to love watching young black people with open minds react to shit I've love my whole life. It's like I get to re-experience that love. I mean, white people have always shown an interest in "black music". I don't even like saying it that way but I don't know how else to put it. Anyway, I'm 3 reactions in and I'm feeling your vibe. Keep doing your thing
Neal is amazing. Steve calls him "Flying Fingers Schon". When he was 14, Greg Rollie, the original keyboard player for Journey, and who played keyboards for Santana at the time, would pick Neal up from highschool and they would go jam with Carlos and the boys.
This is Steve''s revenge song. He was 18 and working as a second engineer at a recording studio. He came home early one day and his girlfriend was not there. He was looking out the window when a Corvette pulls up. Out pops this guy and his girlfriend. They start kissing big time. When she finally walks in the door, Steve confronts her. She tries to deny everything as if Steve didn't see what he saw. The lesson in this is...don't do songwriters wrong. They will call you out in a song and get rich and famous doing it 😄
I cannot freaking wait!!! I love Journey! As you know and everyone else who sees this that clicks on ANY Journey reaction; I'm a GIGANTIC FAN of theirs! I love it when I see someone else discover Steve Perry and their music! Thank you for making my day!
@Kimberly Grimm I love seeing people hear Steve Perry's voice for the first time, especially on the live versions! It is mind blowing how amazing he sounds live & the band is always on point as well. Lots of fun for these first timers!
I love your reaction when Steve Perry brought those vocals. To me, this song shows off everyone in the band. The guitar, drums, keyboard/piano & then, those vocals. Love this reaction!!!
This is CLASSIC Journey! EVERYONE loves and knows this song............great memories journey!! I had this album on an 8 track.....do you know or have you seen one ever? The worst ....... but it’s all we had.....DAMN WE WE LUCKY TO HAVE SUCH GREAT MUSIC, EVEN ON CRAPPY SYSTEMS IT ALL SOUNDS GREAT!!! ✌🏼🤟🏼🔥🐐
Greg Rolie, the piano player, used to be the lead singer on the first few albums.....then along came STEVE PERRY.... and Rolie willingly gave up the lead singer role!....and the Journey the world fell in love with was born!
@@jilliebeane That statement is incorrect!....Gregg Rolie was the lead singer on the first 3 albums and Fleishman wasn't even a member of the band!....after the 3rd album, he recorded a couple of tracks with them, but was never officially the lead singer and none of his recorded songs ever reached their 4th album.....because they found Steve Perry!
I love Journey!! This song is one of my favorites. Girl cheats on him and then she gets cheated on by her new guy. Love the na na na na na at the end, cracks me up every time. Great reaction!! You're Awesome!!🙂
Gregg Rolie is that rare musician who is known for stints in not one, but two legendary bands. See also: Matt Cameron, drummer for Soundgarden; Matt Cameron, drummer for Pearl Jam.
@@joeday4293 same with Dave Grohl. He’s played drums for Nirvana, the front man for Foo Fighters, he played drums for Queens of the Stone Age and he played with Paul McCartney.
There was So MUCH GREAT MUSIC back then that we were spoiled and didn't realize that one day it would come to an end. We thought that it would last forever!
When I saw Journey in '78, it was festival seating and I was on my husband's shoulders.(he was my boyfriend then) I wd throw glitter into the crowd as well as Frisbees, whistles, beads and whatnot. You had to have throws and props at a concert! On the way home, we would pop in the Journey 8-track tape, (yes!) untie our balloons and inhale the helium. That way, we ALL sounded like Steve Perry while singing along. Journey was one of the best concert experiences I EVER had!
You absolutely need to do the Live 81 version in Houston of Stone in Love and the back to back studio version Feeling that Way/Anytime...they are pure 🔥🔥🔥.
You need to do a reaction to Journey mother father. I know you like when Steve hits those high notes. This song will have you going nuts. He is truly going to blow you away. Also Steve perry has done a few solo songs like oh sherry.
Its just magical to see you, as a young black man, discover, appreciate, and embrace older music. Music when it was actually sung, no auto tune at all, and real instruments being played. Keep up the great exploration.
I went to a Steve Perry concert in 1994 at the D.C. National Theater (I was Air Force and stationed at Andrews AFB at the time), which sat only about 1,500 people. I went with a friend and we had a balcony seat. I have to tell you, it was a freaking AMAZING show! Just WOW! He covered most of his own songs first, but then a tuxedo began descending from the rafters on a coat hanger - the same tux he wore in JOURNEY! At that point, an hour had gone by, and as you can imagine to the wild roar of even such a small crowd, he dawned the tux, and then for the next two hours, did Journey songs. It was a three hour show! Anyway, he told the story of this song and how he came to write it, saying that he came home one day earlier than expected, to find a red corvette parked outside of his and his fiancé's abode, and actually caught them in bed. This was before he was famous. But it basically inspired him to write this song, so now you have some back-story. Thanks for the reaction, you rock!
Steve wrote two songs that have that “blues beat;” this one and “Walks Like a Lady.” Although not one of their hits, this live performance of “Walks Like a Lady” is fantastic. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-B9vROjzy9uI.html Also, FYI a Gallup poll voted them the #1 band in America in 1982.
Never say you've found your favorite band from the 70's and 80's....you'll be limiting yourself!!!! NO, NO, NO....expand your horizons, babe!!!!💜🎵🎶🎼🤟 No limits!!!! A real Journey concert...no one stayed in their seats.....EVER!!!!
They are in my top 5 for sure. In High School we had huge speakers in our cars for 8 track tapes. You would hear Journey playing and everyone would start dancing. EVERYONE loved Journey!
The reason the crowd is like that is because this was very early Journey… and their style and sound was groundbreaking, totally new in that time frame. People had never heard anything like this. They were just shocked really. Believe me… they TOOK OFF after this… ✨✨
The crowd was going crazy both times I saw them 😂 we were ten seats back and everyone there was on their feet yelling n holding up lighters🔥🔥🔥🔥they were fantastic 🎉🎉🎉
Believe me,I was at quite a few of their concerts in the late 70's and 80's..we showed up,full tilt and crazy for journey...we was turned up to the max😂
This song is from what happen to Steve Perry. He was at a gig and had went home, while his girlfriend was out with her girlfriends (so he thought!!) It wasn't until he hear 2 car door shut, he looked out the window and saw his girlfriend all over another guy!! Thus Steve wrote this betrayal song!!! This is according to The Voice himself!!
Bluesy as hell.......oh yeah! Love this one! 🎼🎶🎹🎼🎶🎸🎼🎶🎤🔥😎🎧our guy Steve Perry’s nickname = The Voice....facts.❤️Early Journey....people hadn’t caught on......yet.....😉
I am so happy that you envoy Journey as much as you do. i have loved Journey since Steve Perry joined the group. Steve Perrys first song that he sang and wrote with Journey is Patiently. Try that song next.
Ohh man... I wish you could've seen him in concert!!! Omg... well worth the 🎟 price! I have seen him with Journey 5 times. I would go right damn now if they were in Pittsburgh 🤣 Call off work and everything lol
Oh, this is the best like when I was trying to get the rights for his story. I told my cousins and everybody we were always listen to Pac and Biggie, and I got my cousins to buy of the journey CD and we have a multiracial family they were like when I drive through my neighborhood man all my boys are laughing like what in gods name is he listening to?? 😂😂😂 now I’m so glad that even the younger youth generations are hooking onto Steve Perry and realizing what a brilliant singer he was in all races are loving him and that’s what I love just like everybody loved Pac… I have both CDs and a little Usher Raymond and Bobby in my Jeep when I’m rolling through Hollywood in the 90s people in my neighborhood were like yeah you have the biggest range of music in that Jeep when you have your top off and those big speakers and subwoofer I had in the Jeep. It was just Great and Steve Perry hits those high notes forget about it. I’ve been in the second row four times for those concerts two with Steve Perry and two with I think his name is Arnel man. Unbelievable I never sat down for a second.
I've seen Journey twice, once in 1979 with Steve Perry and once in 2018 with the new singer (sorry forgot his name). I loved Journey and my sister gave me her ticket! It was a great concert!! I was so upset when Steve left the band but I have to say, the new guy has chops too. Dude, I wish I could take you back to the 70s to see a few concerts.
OMG Steve Perry and Journey is my all time favorite Rock group...He has the best Voice in all rock music not to mention i thought he was the sexiest man alive. Love Love Love Steve Perry. Still listening to him all the time...Love you Steve and never stop the music the World would be lost without you.
