My 1st car was a 69 impala and I would love to have another! Also I miss places like this! We had some in my part of the country when I was young but they are all gone now! My dad and I used to go and pick one out and he would work on it and drive it home, awsome days!!!
In a nostalgic TV commercial voice: "Introducing the Chrysler Newport, the car that thinks it's a house! Get yours today!" That Citation...you know someone died in that thing....extracting the bodies...there's no way anyone survived that accident.
great video like seeing more on the 1953 Oldsmobile excited about the 1959 Buick looking forward to a lot more on it a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year to everyone there may next year be even better for you guys love watching.😊👍👍✌❤🍻
When I see an old salvage yard like that one, I wonder why the owner didn't scrap most of those for the dollars long time ago. For the most part that is all that is left of value. There were more than a few Mavericks there and you made no comment on them. They make a good drag racing vehicle, but I know that is not your interest.
Really enjoy your programs!! Could I make a suggestion? How about a slide show presentation, with an over dub narration describing each vehicle. Or perhaps do a dry run thru before actually shooting film. Thanks for all your efforts. From a devoted fan.
I'm always amazed that these old beaters were not crushed the past 20 years when scrap steel prices were so high. I rarely see a desirable or a collectable vehicle in these videos or tours of old yards on RU-vid as I'm sure they were rounded up years ago and removed. You wonder how many of these old yards and the cars in them will remain after the old timer owner pass on.
I noticed you looked closely at the Valiant which was similar to your mother's one. I spotted another '68 Valiant in sky blue which was converted to a pickup, As shown in your intro video.
Part 1 and Part 2 have a boat load of early 70's Chevys. The yard owner either really liked them or there was a very strong chevy dealer in the area that sold a bunch of new ones in the day.
The closest Chevy dealer is in Elgin; Taylor has a Dodge dealer. There's now a large combination Ford/Chevy dealer about halfway between Taylor and Hutto, but it's relatively new, and probably wasn't in business when the junkyard was still opened. Chevys are popular in Texas, though.
Is this actually IN Austin, or in an adjacent county? Several in Williamson County have been out of business for some time; the Thrall school bus indicates that the yard could be closer to Taylor than Austin.
