Darryl Fuller He might not have been in a lot of films but you gotta admit he did rather well in TV with Roots, Good Times and the Mary Tyler MooreShow. I really liked his appearances on West Wing as the head of the Joint Chiefs. He was perfect in that role, he looked and acted like a career military officer

+Darryl Fuller Actually Sidney Poitier who directed "Uptown Saturday Night, this film as well as "A Piece Of The Action" had planned on doing John Amos starring films but by the release of "A Piece Of The Action" in 1977 Hollywood briefly moved away from financing so-called Black films and instead financed sci-fi films "Star Wars" and "Jaws" What a missed opportunity to see John Amos really strut his acting

Bill Cosby, Sydney Poitier, Calvin Lockhart, John Amos and Julius Harris, who played Tee Hee in the James Bond film "Live and Let Die". Some of the greatest African-American cats Hollywood has ever seen
@lastdragon820
@lastdragon820 Год назад
Bill Cosby, John Amos and Julius Harris are Foundational Black Americans not African, they are simply American. They are not born nor have cultural bloodline that can be traced back to a specific culture or country in Africa. Africa is a continent not a country or culture. Sydney Poitier, Calvin Lockhart, were of Bahamian descent, although Sidney Poitier was born in America months after his parents came to America. Funny Al Pacino. Robert De Niro, Jack Nicholson are never referred to as some of the greatest European American actors, although they are born here like Bill Cosby and the rest and can trace their blood lineage back to specific European countries.
@TheManInCommand
@TheManInCommand Год назад
The Bahamas is part of the American continent (The Americas). So, a Bahamian may not be a United States citizen, but they are still considered American.
@lastdragon820
@lastdragon820 Год назад
@@TheManInCommand sorry but you are wrong...The Bahamas is an independent country and is not US territory or owned by them either. The Commonwealth of The Bahamas is NOT NOR HAVE WE EVER BEEN a U.S. territory or owned by the U.S. EVER. In 1973 America only establish diplomatic relations nothing more. Bahamian American is simply someone who may have been born in the Bahamas and after birth received US citizenship...but Bahamians are NOT AMERICAN's nor can or are they considered such.

@@lastdragon820 Don't be a dolt, man. You have no. idea what you're talking about. This much is clear. A country, by definition, is a nation with its own government. There were no official nations in Africa until 1847. Which was the founding of Liberia. The next African country didn't come to be until 1910, when the Republic of South Africa was established. Since then, the 54 nations therein came to be, spanning from 1922 (Ethiopia), to 2011 (South Sudan). Ethiopia was around long before then. But not as a "country". So you see, it is impossible for American blacks to be hyphenated by a country, since none existed. So it has to be the continent. And he's NOT wrong about Bahamians being Americans. People from Argentina are Americans. As well as every other country on both American continents. They just don't call themselves that. Anymore than Sri Lankans call themselves Asian, even though they're very much a part of the Asian continent. Every nation from Nunavut to the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, is decidedly American. Countries are man made. So, irrespective of whether or not The Bahamas is a territory of the United States, they're on the North American continent, and are therefore American. -_-

@@cwhite5613 .... You both must be kiddin'... Let's see...hmm, Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier followed by Mike Epps and Chris Tucker. Sounds like you both were born in or after the 80s, and were indelibly impressed with Ice Cube's 'Fridays' franchise...

Man, I love this movie. Bill Cosby and Sidney Poitier complimented each other comedically like Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence.

😄, the beginning of this clip is too funny. Bubbletop is cheezin' his ass off, trying to make the wives think he's got nothing but good intentions, then just as soon as that door closes, he wants to rearrange their faces with his bare hands...

What makes this different from blaxpoitation films of the time is that the writer is a Black associate professor at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Also Cosby's and Poitner's characters are hard working and respect their wives (Although Cosby's character pretends to be tougher than he really is and at home, his wife is the boss. )The two have never in their lives been to such a club like in the movie. They are fish out of water , never associating themselves with crime or hoodlums. So there is a balance that shows good Black men and Black women, while it pokes fun at Black criminals rather than glorify them.
