Dear some of the shittier new death metal bands who are entirely incapable at writing songs: fast does not equal good. This is a prime example, it's slow, but it has this massive groove to it which make it spot on for headbanging to, and actually has -gasp- memorable riffs! Long story short - this band is awesome. CANADA KILLS

and just when you think that the song is over, an outro that almost kills you overloads your ears. Great stuff indeed. Looking forward to seeing them at this year's Wacken!

i like this band because they're not like emulating other bands in that they're not trying to make the fastest guitar and double bass song in the world. they know how to take it slow and friggin' heavy like metal should be

That outro riff is just f'in epic. I really wish they built on it. It feels like it was too short. This could have easily been a 6 or 7 minute epic.

@turtelman1234 Well I listen to much more than unintelligable vocalists/bands. I'm more into thrash metal myself, but you gotta respect the classics. And the only thing in my eyes that "makes a band" would be how well they collaberate to make the music. CC is a perfect example, everything fits together but is meant to sound crazy like it's just ferocity. That's what I like about them in addition to Corpsegrinder. I'm not a huge Barnes fan but early Cannibal Corpse founded Brutal Death Metal

@CharybdisJaws you can call yourself a metal fan if you like death or morbid angel or any other old school death metal band it is possible to not like cannibal corpse at all and still be a metal fan but their bassist alex webster isnt that bad ill admit hes pretty good with hammer smashed face i know lyrics dont make the band but thats just one of the many reasons i dont like that band

@turtelman1234 Barnes left cause he wanted to take a new direction (Six Feet Under) and the style/technique he used wasn't meant to be understood, its almost like a fourth/fifth instrument to make their sound. He was perfect for CC at his era, when he left Corpsegrinder picked up beautifully. And lyrics/vocalists dont make the band anyway. You need to work as a band, and they did/still do. And Eaten Back to Life was amazing, you can't call yourself a metal fan and not like it. Simply impossible.

@ChrisHun7er but niles guitarist kind of over shadows their consistent lyrics i think decide is ok i think never heard of vital remains cattle decapitation or amon amarth i could care less for dying fetus i havent listened to any of kataklysms newest album yet but thats one album they have with consistent lyrics cannibal corpses lyrics are no different through out their entire career from eaten back to life to evisceration plague its all the same and alot of people want something different

Its almost hard for me to believe that these guys came from Canada; the quality and precision would make me think Norway, Scandanavia, Wales, or even from here in the U.S., but neve Canada. If you want real death metal, listen to Nile, Origin, Behemoth, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Vital Remains, Defeated Sanity, Spawn Of Possession, Guttural Secrete, Decrepit Birth, Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Malignancy, Septic Flesh, Beheaded, Visceral Bleeding, Hate Eternal, Necrophagist, Sadistic Intent, Old Funeral, Disgorge, Cryptopsy, etc.

ugh, I hate how you can't edit your stuff here. Ignore what I said earlier. This looks like they're getting ready to do a show. laid back clothes, Maurizio even has glasses on top of his head. I doubt any vocalist would be wearing glasses on his head during a live show. Also if you watch carefully the sounds from the guitar don't match what he's playing. not downrating the band, these guys rock! Go Canadian Death/Black Metal bands!

in my opinion, kataklysm has to be one of the heaviest, and best death metal bands to come from canada. happiest day of 2008 for me was when prevail came out. PREVAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YOUR TIME HAS COME! CRUSH THE ENEMY ONE BY ONE!

These guys obviously appeal to a generation that listened to good metal such as sepultura and pantera. It is not surprising that we get all the scene kids saying that its not edgy enough. sorry they dont sing like girls like linkin park or just play fast like dildo driver. Simplicity prevails. melodeath is awesome!

Awesome song, but I love that there's no mention of what a bullshit video this is. I mean camman, they're video taping their fuckin soundcheck. Who does that? Having said that, still 200% better than a $950,000 budget rap video.

@timmyjunior1 Late as all hell, but most bands that are rather unknown tend not to make much from music sales anyway. Most money comes from the touring now-a-days and quite a few bands support downloading music so that their stuff is spread to more people.

Hey, LoG is damn good. You can't blame Blythe for fucking up the beautful guitar riffs Mark Morton and Willie Adler play. They are amazingly talented, its just a shame they god that annoyingly generic Blythe to scream over their music.

Dude, there ARE no "official" metal genres. It's all slang, coined by different bands. Plenty of bands called themselves Hair Metal, coined by Twisted Sister. Glam Metal showed up after, as a derogatory name from the Thrash Metal bands.

Compared to their 90's stuff this is a joke. That sh&$ was some of the most technical, brutal, well-produced death metal ever. I still like these guys but this catchy, trendy, melodic crap is a transparent attempt to sell tickets and records. Barf!
