Other athletes bent over holding their knees, some holding hands over their heads, KT just walking around like nothing just happened. She's amazing. And humble to boot
katelyn just walking straight and congratulating everyone, then bit her hair tie, fixed her hair and talking while doing it 😭😭 as if she didnt just finished a race 😂😂
Humble is REALLY important to be able to fight mind pain like that. It gives you power over your own mind, empathy does. Running is trippy when you dig deep. At such a young age, it is rare to be able to win like this.
@@katelyntuohyfans She's got the power out.... While I am sure she is feeling winded at the end her focus seems to be congradulating the other runners.... She adopted that behavior over the last year.
One has to wonder if Touhy actually ran most of the race on the inside of the inside lane, how much faster she would be. In most of her races I've watched, she runs a lot of the laps to the outside, resulting in running further than the actual distance.
She does all this running stuff while being an Academic All-American. That to me is the most impressive thing. The heck with us. Her parents must be so proud!!!
I think I read somewhere that the New Mexico altitude probably added some 30-40 seconds to the longer distance races' times at 3000m and 5000m. Her running style is so smooth and effortless and she exudes so much strength. Wow, great 2022 national CC champion, 2023 indoors 3000m and 5000m national champion, new NCAA record holder in 1500m, mile and 3000m. And she ran a 1600m 4:23 anchor leg in the DMR, a faster anchor leg time than was run by a pro team that set the DMR world record. And now it's onto the outdoor track season where she should solidify her status as one of the greatest women's college distant runners of all time.
"The Hills Pay the Bills"....Or should I say the high turns. 😁. Tuohy is a one of a kind athlete... Remarkable talent , but so humble and team-oriented! A great role model for a young runner on how to do everything right!!
Fun facts: Did you ever hear of Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia? He won gold running the 10,000m at the 1996 & 2000 Olympics. He attributed his success to running a 10k EVERY DAY, at altitude! It certainly helps explain 4 World Championships, 4 consecutive Berlin Marathon victories, & 3 straight wins at the Dubai Marathon. In addition, he earned four world titles indoors and was the 2001 World Half Marathon Champion. Moral of the story: It doesn't matter about the competitors. Katelyn's running against Katelyn (which is probably why she REALLY likes being part of a team!).
It is remarkable, how Katelyn Tuohy is coming into her own. Last year she came in second, running flat out but unable to close the gap. Now she is so much stronger with so much speed over so broad a range. Her body has become a superb instrument and she is a virtuoso in using it. May such music continue always.
last year there were also tactical errors by much of the field. Alabama tried to repeat it by slowing the field, but Touhy learns from past mistakes. It's good that she has these experiences of having to run tactically, she's going to have to do that whenever she starts competing at the very top (world class) level.
Kaitlyn just keeps impressing. She continues to set the bar. I'm so happy for her! All the hard work and all the tears are finally paying off, and everything is coming together this year
yes, it's nice to see that. For awhile, with the injury, it looked like she was going to become yet another child prodigy running flame-out. Good to see her buck the trend, especially since she's a good role model.
Amazing runner 🏃♂️ the world is at your feet can't wait for the outdoor season to start Katelyn tuohy will lead the wolf pack to total domination this year 💖🏃♂️
Katelyn a physiological evaluation of the #1 rated ultramarathon runner who runs several marathons a week found his exertion, anxiety ands testing blood pressure levels were reduced when she is racing. That’s Katelyn- she looks so relaxed running - she loves what she does!
Another incredible race from Katelyn, but can we also give some credit to Olivia Markezich for her amazing kick on the last two laps to go from 8th (4:15) to 2nd (5:18) while closing a huge gap? Congrats Katelyn and well done, Olivia!!
arriba KATELYN....////Iam from Puerto Rico...and since i watched first video of her leaving everybody in the competition behind...man i become a fan instantly ..i admire this humble and fantastic young girl...God bless you always and keep making your state ,,parents and friend proud of you ..kudos for you....and if you come to my island ...you have a fanB here also.....you makes me so happy ..the way you compete and win....blessing for youlllllllll
She is a great ambassador for the sport, as are the other participants. It must be disheartening to run against her; so more credit to the rest of the field.
It must be hard to be a team mate of Katelyn, as she is so dominant in the races. The other girls should get an award for being great team mates and hanging in there. No one ever gives them the credit they deserve.
A number of my family members (all from NY) have been following Katelyn Tuohy since HS........she amazes us (AND SO MANY MORE) in every race.....ESPECIALLY her inner attributes.. May GOD continue to bless her and bless those following her as a great example of a person......
What amazes the most about her is that in watching any of her races, she never seems to be struggling and she never seems tired. I don't think that I've ever seen her sweat. It's incredible! I'm just wondering, why was this race so far off-pace for the world/meet records? I could be wrong, but it seemed that the winning time was nearly an entire lap's time period behind the world/meet times.
A 3k or 5k NCAA championship at altitide is almost always going to be a slower tactical race. Even more so if there is an athlete like Tuohy in it who can handle any pace and still outkick you in the finish.
The pace can vary a lot depending on conditions (like being at altitude here as others have mentioned) and simply how fast people feel like running in a given race. It's pretty common for the field to be content to stay together for a while with nobody wanting to take out a fast pace. In Tuohy's case she can rely on her better finishing speed if she wants to separate from the pack later on as she did here. You definitely shouldn't be expecting anything near world record pace from a group of collegiate runners. They wouldn't be capable of maintaining it for long and would just blow themselves up and have a horrible finish if they did that. Even Tuohy would run that risk at this point in her career as her best time in this event is a little over 18 seconds off the world record. Even in professional racing world record pace is not a common occurrence. Only certain people are capable of it and they pick their spots for it.
I have been watching her races for a good year now I follow her on youtube I am always so surprised to see her running her pace her accelerations, her extensions I like.a true champion. J'espère que la traduction est correct, bonjour de France
My pick for the 'Hunger Games' lol. Seriously this girl is so pretty, smart with a unique elegant and smooth running style with that beautiful golden mane swaying in the wind resembles an Arab mare galloping through the fields!
That's a bit of a backwards way of looking at it. A much more realistic take is that when Tuohy finally ramped up her pace for the final 2 laps, she barely achieved record pace. Not taking anything away from Tuohy, who ran a smart and dominant race, but talking about world records in relation to this race is silly.
Katelyn Tuohy is my favorite athlete in the world I am a big fan of women's MMA but no athlete has accomplished what Katelyn has in such a short period.
A biblical description of Katlyn, " You will be adorned with beauty and grace, and wisdom's glory will wrap itself around you, making you victorious in the race. "
..да, она хорошая бегунья , но для того ,чтобы бегать на мировом уровне у неё есть еще над чем работать. Эту дистанцию нужно пробегать как минимум за 8:20..И это будет мировой уровень. Успеха ей! Привет из России!😊
