Kent Hovind can't answer a basic question about the gospel 

God sacrificed his son/self to himself to prevent himself from following through with the punishment he himself made up. And for some strange reason people see this as being saved, I see it as being "spared". It's the equivalent of thanking and worshiping an abusive spouse for NOT beating you up.

It is very common in pre Axial religions to actually believe that if one had committed a wrong one way was for the penalty of death to be placed upon a goat, a chicken, etc.. etc.. Hence we have Moses and Abraham having to sacrifice a goat, the ancient Egyptians having to sacrifice a few rams to appease the Gods, Agamemnon having to sacrifice a cow, the Hindu sages performing animal sacrifice to atone for the wrong a person committed etc.. Axial period religions and philosophies challenged this or modified this. ( Not surprisingly the Brahmin group gathered were outraged at this, but the priest did inform the Buddha that the goat will go to Heaven for paying the penalty ) Around the same time, Confucius while upholding custom nearly caused one powerful clan to go to war as he successfully argued that if the son of a Noble believes so greatly in pharmakos than maybe he should sacrifice himself so that his parents and grandparents would benefit massively, and not a slave boy ( China at this point still had outright slavery and still had aristrocracy, something which Confucianism abolished ) In the West, Stoicism rose to challenge the idea of pharmakos by pointing out its absurdity, and the Epicureans questioning how pharmakos makes this ethical. The Isisian Mysteries also rose in challenge of pharmakos calling it barbaric ( note Christianity was not the only contender to be the religion of Europe .. a twist of fate and Europe could be worshiping a pair of Gods known as Aset and Serapis ). Christianity did not challenge pharmakos but rather inverted it, making the due paid by a single God men's death. In the same vein Mithraism inverted it by having Mithra pay for it."

Kent is a member of the body of Christ , each member of the body has a unique job , they all get some knowledge of the truth but not all of it , that is only for God to know it all , how would you demonstrate how much you loved a child , would you die if it would save the life of your child ? God leads by example ! This is why he gave his earthly life up , he is not dead but lives in heaven , you will have to give your self up too , die to self and live for God , walk in the spirit and not in the flesh , look up to heaven and not down to earth , For whosoever will save his life shall lose it ; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's the same shall save it . For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world , and lose his own soul ? Mark 8:35-36

Because the wages of sin is death and no sin can be forgiven with out the shedding of blood. No offense but to say you were a born again Christian for 25 yearsI thought you would’ve known that.

If you can't genuinely love Him, yourself, and others as yourself, then your knowledge has no power. When you spew out scientific truths from a place of arrogance and contempt, (and then can't even back up any questions given to you about God and His nature), nobody's going to listen.

Sin brought death into the world. Death means the absence of God or detachment from God. "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul." [Leviticus 17:11] The perfect life is in God; God's life cannot suffer or experience death because God cannot sin. The blood of animals was not perfect to become a substitute or give life back to the dying Man. So, God decided to use His own ENDLESS life so as to give life back to Man. It is akin to resuscitation. God gave life back to Man in order to destroy death in him. --------------------------------------------------------------- You can't expect Hovind to know everything and neither do any Jesus follow (or Christian), so it's wrong to make Hovind look bad for not knowing the answer to your question. That is why you have teachers, apostles, evangelists, shepherds and prophets in the Church. It is a FIVE-fold body not one fold.

The Gospel is Jesus Christ lived as a man He died on a cross and resurrected from the dead proving He is GOD. Read 1 Corinthians 1-58 kjv and then read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, king James Bible. That is the gospel. Gospel means good news the good news is GOD made a way for all to be saved from hell, without forcing all to go to Heaven. GOD give you the choice, its up to you except His gift or reject His gift His Son John 3:16 kjv

That atheist doesn't understand the Atonement

If there’s a God that is so advanced he created the entire universe he would be so powerful our tiny human brains would not be able to comprehend or explain. A being or energy that powerful wouldn’t waste his time doing all these things mentioned in the Bible. He would be here showing us not wasting his time coming here in human form to die for our sins. If he created us he could’ve created us to be without sin if he wanted. He would never have created Satan or evil. He could snap his fingers and do whatever he wanted. Besides all this why would a being so incredibly powerful create a bunch of bumbling buffoons called humans that destroy the world, lie cheat steal and be so dumb? That would be like us taking the worlds most powerful microscope and finding a colony of bacteria living on the wing of a tiny bug, seeing that they are mating with one another, eating one another and eventually killing the tiny bug they are living on and us becoming enraged and burning our entire backyard to punish them for their sins.

It’s really quite simple. God sent His Son down to earth to die for our sins. That is what the Bible says, however anyone can die on a cross. The real question shouldn’t be asking why God sent His son down, it should be focusing on, how Jesus rose from the dead? Now back to the topic, anyone can die on a cross. Yes that’s true, however can anyone rise from the dead?

Atonement and justice acording to eternal law. Its the nature of balance. BIBLICALLY the penalty for evil is death and hell. For there to be forgiveness someone has to pay the penalty for there to be Justice. It's God's mercy reconciling with God's justice

Simple question to answer just ask Christ Jesus (Loves You)!!

An act of sin is a rejection of God. It's a rejection of His authority, but more importantly, a rejection of His loving fellowship. It is essentially rebellion toward the Creator who created men in His own image. He did this because He wanted a special loving relationship with this unique creature, "man." However, a loving relationship requires two willing parties. God willfully loves men but men do not reciprocate this love. They reject Him and commit acts of rebellion which we call "sin." By sinning against God men are actively proving that they do not want a relationship with Him who created them and loves them and is kind to them daily. Moreover, there is a Divine standard of righteousness (meaning, 'that which is right'), which we would call the Law of God. This Divine standard of righteousness is based on the nature of who God is! For instance, the commandment, "thou shall not lie" is given because it is a Divine standard of who God is. We learn from it that we as men are liars but God is not, He always tells the truth! This Divine standard (the Law of God) must be upheld. If men fall short of this standard God cannot share fellowship with them and the breaking of this standard requires punishment. This punishment is administered by God because He is the standard and the supreme authority in the universe which He created. The punishment is death. "Death" biblically defined is not termination, finalization, or annihilation but rather "separation." In other words, "to be dead is to be separated from God who is Life!" This is why the Bible can say that men on this earth, even though they still have breath in their lungs, are "dead" in trespasses and sins. God can't just forgive crimes! In the same way, a judge on this earth can't just forgive a crime when it is proven that the person is guilty. That judge would be corrupt and would show no respect for justice! God, however, loves justice and will not corrupt Himself. He will do what is right and it is right that men be punished for their rebellion. This puts God in a precarious situation, He loves men and wants to have a loving relationship with them but they have broken the Law and deserve to be punished and justice must be upheld! How then does God solve this dilemma? This is how He solves it: an innocent man can take the place of guilty men. But this presents another problem because there aren't any innocent men who are not guilty of sin. Therefore, God does something wonderful He becomes a man Himself. A man born of a virgin (this is very important because the nature of sin and rebellion is passed on from the seed of our earthly fathers throughout all generations all the way back to our first father Adam). Jesus, the eternal Son of God (God in the flesh) was conceived by the Holy Spirit and not an earthly man. Therefore, Jesus was, and is, Divine as well as human and perfectly without sin. This perfect innocent man Jesus can now represent guilty rebels and be punished in their place! Why is blood necessary? In the same way that we would send a traitor to a firing squad to be pierced with bullets and have their blood poured out in order to satisfy justice, the Law of God demands the blood of traitors in order to satisfy justice! Traitors rightly deserve death for their crimes. And yet, God the Father decided to pour out the blood of His own innocent Son so that Divine justice can be upheld, rebels can be forgiven of their offenses, and His nature and character remain intact. What great love God has for men that he would do this for us! Friends, this is why Jesus blood is the only means whereby men can be saved from the punishment that is rightfully theirs. Jesus, out of love, endured the righteous demands of the law so that treasonous rebels can go free. Please trust in the blood of Jesus Christ, my friends. He is all we have and all we need!

The biggest problems when trying to debate an atheist- them being close minded, and the illusion that man made theoretical "science" has things all figured out. If you rule out the plausibility of God in the first place, which is absolute, than you are closing yourself to any reasonable answer a Creationist may give in the first place. The same goes for the faith that atheists hold in theorems, as if their plausibility makes them fact. A huge double standard that allows no rationale.
