Thank You, brought me out of a depression. My mom taught me how to cook by getting together and have a Mother, and Son cooking party. We'd get an idea on something and one day Hot Brown! They were a hit, and in the latter days of her life she requested that a lot. I've watched you for a few years now and you've never disappointed! I think anybody who likes to cook needs to have that white american cheese.
I realize this is an older video, but it just popped up on my feed. Used to be a restaurant in Toledo, Ohio called the Town Club that did this recipe but instead of tomatoes, they used peaches. It was an awesome dish that I still remember to this day. I know Jack is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on in these timeless videos. RIP big guy.
Damn, every foodie needs a friend like Daddy Jack. Hanging in the kitchen and throwing down recipes like this all day with a dude like him would be the most fun I could imagine. He was a legend.
I worked lunch shift in a fine dining restaurant when everything was toned down with an older chef that reminds me of Jack. I was front of house but I would spend all my extra time absorbing everything I could from the chef. To this day I learned the most from him. Thanks for putting these videos out to the world Jack!
Thanks for sharing, great memories Greedy, steal with your eyes as they say, watch and learn! Glad you like the videos, Jack Become A Member Of “Cooking With The Blues” patreon.com/cookingwiththeblues
Sir,...You are an artist,...May you live forever!! My bucket list is to have you make me and my Lady a meal,…!! You are GREAT sir!!! You are wonderful!!!
Jack is truly a beautiful soul. You could sit here and be an armchair chef and pick apart every single thing he does (especially with cleanliness), but what’s the point? If you don’t like the channel, go watch another of the thousands out there. I kind of feel like I’ve walked into Jack’s kitchen when I’m watching these videos and hope to meet him one day (if the lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise, as my grandpa used to say). I hope Jack cooks into his late late years so we can all enjoy him as I know that retirement probably doesn’t even register in his brain. He’s living his best life right now and may god bless him.
Sadly the big fella recently passed away at age 62. Such a terrific chef ,honest cooking, will have to be content watching his channel knowing he not going to make anymore videos. Hope he uses the kitchen in the sky.
This guy Jack is LEGIT! Love the info, love the food, couldn't be happier with this channel! Lots of love and good fortune in your future! Much respect.
We have a takeout food in the northeast of England called a "Parmesan" not your typical Italian Parmesan * butterfly a chicken breast * breadcrumb the chicken breast * deepfry untill golden brown * add a thick layer of bechamel sauce on top * add cheddar cheese on top on the bechamel sauce *finish under grill We would love for you to make and try it. Its absolutely delicious.
I'm a plant based diet guy but I really enjoy watching Jack and all the creative dishes he makes and shares with us. Thanks Jack! I'd like to share a recipe with you, well more than one but one in particular. I think you'd really love it.
Send me that recipe to my email Ewa, I'd like to look at it. Good way to go plant based. I eat that way a lot during the summer, so good for you. Thanks, Jack Become A Member Of "Cooking With The Blues" www.patreon.com/CookingWithTheBlues
A Hot Brown is a hot open-faced sandwich originally created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, by Fred K. Schmidt in 1926. It was one of two signature sandwiches created by chefs at the Brown Hotel shortly after its founding in 1923.
Probably my favorite dish. I've had this at a lot of places but I've never made it at home. Thanks for showing me how simple the sauce is to make, that's the key to this dish in my opinion
I attended a wedding Louisville several years ago. The reception was held at the Brown Hotel. Some of the most incredible food I've ever had, 4 star, but the Hot Brown was the best! Thanks for bringing back the memories. You really nailed it.
Jack thanks so much for sharing. I must say I have not heard of Kentucky Hot Brown, but it's something I'm going to try for sure. The bacon makes it for sure. Cheers from Kingston, Ontario Canada
I found this on Wikipedia. A Hot Brown sandwich is an American hot sandwich originally created at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky, by Fred K. Schmidt in 1926. It is a variation of traditional Welsh rarebit and was one of two signature sandwiches created by chefs at the Brown Hotel shortly after its founding in 1923. Wikipedia ps. I love your videos i watched almost all of them keep up the good work this is one of my favorite channels on youtube
Americans who visit France (not tourist traps in Paris) always say “how can you eat a-b-c-d” and still not get fat. Well, I am from France and let me tell you, that this wonderful dish, which I am going to make myself, is a portion for 3 people and you serve salad leaves with it! Kentucky Hot Brown- what a wonderful name for a dish! 10/10
Oh man. That looks delicious. Papa Jack, do you have a recipe for Fried Green Tomatoes? Would love to see you whip up a batch with a spicy dipping sauce!!
Chef Jack I'm a trucker and made this tonight for Thanksgiving. The garlic is the key! I used Asiago, white American from Big Eagle supermarket in PA, and Italian white cheddar. Awesome!
I live here in Louisville and have had the Hot Brown, not a big fan. The official story of the hot brown goes like this: In the 1920s, the Brown Hotel hosted lavish dinner dances during which patrons would work up an appetite dancing and merrymaking. One night, instead of the usual ham and eggs, head chef Fred Schmidt concocted a new dish with items he had on hand in the hotel kitchen. He called it the hot brown after the hotel. .
you are correct ...The Brown HoteL Greetings from Louisville KY. Looks so good.Enjoying your videos. Derby has been postponed this year in September f.Y.I. God Bless!
Im from Springfield Illinois ( the land of Lincoln). I cook at a local bar and grill. You have helped me with your videos because I am still relatively new to this business. This dish strongly reminds me of a Springfield original recipe I have been enjoying most of my life that I believe came before this one, but u r missing a vital ingredient. A lifelong Spfd Il resident recently wrote a book about it and we have a signed copy displayed in our bar.
I make mine by making an onion piquet in bottom of skillet, hit it with cream let it boil for 2 minutes pull out onion, hit with nutmeg and cheese. Lol I started typing then you asked for nutmeg what a guy what a guy.
Adam Garratt This has to be the BEST restaurant kitchen to be part of.. Not just because of the great food, but also for the culture that has evolved around it.. music, community service, etc.
