This is because rugby union didn’t go off half cocked and make a rash decision. It was brought in at the beginning of the season after consultation with ex players and coaches. There system also has yellow card , sin bin and send off. The other situation is that their refs consult with their bunker and ask if the player may of contributed to the head high due to his action in the tackle prior to making a judgment call. A much better system than what league has put together

The punching crack down did ruin the game you muppet. What did it stop? They run in and shirt grab and slap more than they ever did before. Players are baiting each other to punch so they can get an opponent sent off. Just like the head high sin bin, players are staying down now for any collision because a sin bin can win them a game. It wont stop high tackles because high tackles were not intentional, they're accidental. You cant stop an accident by punishing and accident. By definition, you have no control of it. penalize

I disagree and don’t particularly care about blokes punching on during a game. TV ratings are higher now than they ever were and club memberships are on the rise. Saying the game is ruined is incorrect. High tackles are accidental in most circumstances however there’s plenty of players just slinging an arm out and collecting a bloke high. That’s lazy. Most teams have a few key offenders that are always hitting players high. They need to work on their tackling technique to stop getting sin binned. The point of the sin binning was to highlight the zero tolerance for high shots. It’s worked because it’s all people are talking about and now coaches are working to overcome it. As I said 10 minutes isn’t the answer but just blowing a penalty wasn’t the answer either.
