The brand new Kenya Experience series will document a week in Kenya training at altitude and meeting some of the best runners in the World. Make sure to subscribe as new videos will be dropping every few days. This sixth video documents a Tuesday Track workout in Eldoret and we get to meet Marathon World Record Holder Eliud Kipchoge and the NN running team with their coach Patrick Sang.
I was gifted the opportunity to travel with the Kenya Experience camp. All views are my own and I have not been paid to make these videos. We wanted it to be organic so I will tell the story of my time in Kenya in my usual style. If you are interested in finding out more on the camps that happen a few times a year then
Check out www.runningtrips.co.uk/ to find out more about the camps they offer.
If you want any further details on my experience then just reach out.

Yeah that was my fastest rep and a little too quick but once I was on the back I didn’t want to drop. You you don’t get the opportunity very often to say you matched Kipchoge on the track even if it was only 400m.

How fantastic!! You got to truly see just how fast they run. Always looks so effortless. I’d be interested know how it feels to run at altitude and how much of an impact it’s had on you now you’re back in the UK. I know you’ve had covid so maybe you weren’t able to see the positive results immediately.
@TheWelshRunner
@TheWelshRunner 2 года назад
Thanks. Altitude is such a strange feeling but I loved it. Everything felt harder. It’s hard to put a number on it because the routes were so hilly too. I chose 400m reps for the track because I knew I would fare better than longer reps. I think training at altitude can have a huge impact but you have to stay for longer than a week. I think I will have had a small benefit but it’s hard to know especially as you say I then got Covid. I loved altitude for the fact I could run slower for a good aerobic benefit.

Hi Tim, I hope you don't mind us jumping in on this one. We organise the Kenya Experience camp which Matt was part of. Yes, it is exactly as you say, it's a training camp/holiday for runners of all levels and we arrange all the running, seminars & other non-running training (gym, drills etc) plus other activities like meeting with local athletes etc. The link to our website is in Matt's description of this video. Please feel to reach out to us if you would like any further information.
