5:51. The cooling properties of water are first rate, practically nothing on earth out performs water. The problem with water is that it freezes. Which is why in automotive applications we add "antifreeze," but glycol's (aintfreeze) cooling capabilities are inferior to water. Which is why in racing, people often run straight water, but you have be very careful to drain the system afterword, as if it freezes, due to the fact water expands when it freezes, it will destroy basically everything it is left inside of.
We mix things in to prevent freezing, we raise the boiling point by placing the system under pressure. The higher the system pressure, the higher the boiling point (the point at which the water turns to gas).
Now I want to use it for my electric fast boat conversion. Initially I was thinking about 138. How much power it can hold with water running through, can you test it?
That’s an amazing idea. We will post another episode setting up the liquid cooling system and make sure we measure the internal capacity of the water jacket around the motor .
Hey guys I‘m having some overheat issues with my air-cooled 138, not running it higher then 120 degrees celsius. They say peak is 150, any experience how high i can go continuous? I‘d like to avoid the whole liquid cooled add on‘s. Cheers!
Hi there. thank you for the video, is there an issue of overheating the air cooled version? I wonder if I will buy water cooled or air cooled. Because it saves more weight when air cooled. Cheers 🍻
I was thinking of going with a vector vortex/eleek pozitiffmd you think this will fit 🤔? This with a bac8000 would be the power levels im looking for. If not how much modding would be needed for the motor mounts?
I have a QS 138 water cooled just like this one and am intrigued that the length is significantly longer for the w/c vs air cooled. This is not needed for just adding the water cooling jacket so it implies a longer stator and coils - which would impy greater torque thru the rev range. Would you be able to set up a torque-run comparison of the QS air cooled vs water cooled? It begins to look as though they might have under-rated the water cooled version imo.
