The incident with the horses starts at about 35:05. I fast forwarded so I didn’t have to spend hours watching tourists take pictures. However, the title of this video is a HUGE exaggeration. The was restless, but it certainly didn’t go berserk. If it had, it would have been running down the street totally out of control. There are more people on the scene out of control than there are horses.
I did like watching these videos. This was very painful. I started fast forwarding to the horses as well. That title is very misleading and didn't make sense even in the beginning. It makes the horses sound like they can't be kept calm by their respective riders. I'm seriously done.
Why is it the sex of the trooper is weighed into the equation. All troopers, regardless of their sex should be proficient in their horsemanship. When you point out the rider is a female who handled the situation well, it is as if you are surprised by that.
@loganwhite3904 Nothing wrong with generalities. I just want us to appreciate the skill level of the trooper because it is better than their peers, not because they happen to be a female in a male dominant field. We do them no favors if we give praise just because they did the same job as the males. That's what they are expected to do. Sorry, didn't mean to single you out. There are so many comments similar to yours & I guess that is what bugs me. If we aren't praising her male counterparts for their same skill level, then why do we feel we need to do so with the female guards?
@@goldenyearsacres91631000% EXACTLY THIS!! You're SPOT ON. THEY did a fabulous job,at handling the situation AND putting the horses needs FIRST..and there is ZERO need to point out what their gender is. If they didn't start their comment with "The male Trooper did X-Y-Z, I'm so impressed", then there is ZERO cause to state "The female Trooper always handles the horses so well." either. A TROOPER IS A TROOPER,IS A TROOPER. PERIOD. Please stop dividing them, stop segregating them, by gender. The proper way to state how well they do their job is, "That Trooper has always done a fabulous job, handling the horses. They really impress me,with their connection to the animals that they are in charge of." Period, no He or She needs defined. "Trooper" is all the definition needed.
As the saying goes, there's nothing worse for horses feet than hammer hammer on the hard high road. In other words, trotting on tarmac, and or cobles is bad for horses especially fast trotting. The London cab horses back in the day used to suffer from founder because of it, and it often ended the life of the horses. 😢
There is quite a few behind the scene vidoes on youtube was watching them yesterday....just put into youtube behind the scenes with the Kings horses and stables should come up for u..try John walks London he got special behind these scenes access to the stables
@@g1000- London City Walks (John ) and do a search as suggested. There are also some lovely clips of them all at Holcombe Beach where they go on holiday for three weeks.
Well they have the intelligence of a small child (3 to 4 years old) so it's not really that surprising that they will throw the equine equivalent of a tantrum and then calm once they get their own way. There are many reasons why they do it, boredom or being overwhelmed by the number of people are probably most common. The personalities are as varied as people....
At the 35:30 mark when the horse & buggy parade blows by the guard's horse wants to run with the herd. It's only natural for a horse to want to run with a herd., nothing bazerk here.
The boots are traditional riding boots with mock stirrups, they are designed to protect the riders legs during battle. As this is a ceremonial uniform to show the heritage of both regiments at the gates they are not comfortable. I agree that the sentry box men/women should wear ordinary riding boots for walking.
Riding boots are exactly that - meant only for riding. Not especially comfortable for walking around in. Most hobby riders only put their good leather boots on just before getting the horse tacked up and mounting. It's also considered bad form to walk around in your spurs, not least because you can trip up on them.
You clearly don't know much about horses. That was so far from beserk it's just not funny. He was a bit unsettled but perfectly handled by his rider. HATE THE MISLEADING HEADINGS!!!!
“King’s Guard Horse Goes Berserk As It Sees Hundred.” 47:57 REALLY? Against my better judgment I loaded this video to see what the fuss was. No fuss, just a routine day for tourists and a magnificent horse minding its task. Cue the berserk horse. . Cue the hundred. No? Re-label and refile as CLICKBAIT. CAPTION. 😅
Thank you for that little wandering up the street. I'm in the US and have never been to London so it was nice to get a little context for where these horses are on duty. Boy, between the tourists and traffic I'm amazed at how well the horses normally do.
I can't say that I saw anything that was it "going berserk" - just a bit of misbehaving prancing about - I've seen other epiodes on other channels of horses rearing up and really "going berserk" that were kess dranatically titled!! Wish channel providers would stop using their titles as clickbait!!
I wish you would get them to set more rules. Tourists are disrespectful to those beautiful horses. They are stupid. All that touching and they could have dangerous drugs in their hands. You just need to tell them it really needs to stop. Does a horse have to die first????
Well basically, it is not up to you and me. We are not the owner of these horses, nor are we involved in setting rules for any Horse Guards. We need to trust that their owner will decide as he sees fit. When a thing is not within our own circle of responsibility, it’s just not some thing we can control. So we shouldn’t allow it to rile us up. Sometimes we can take one of our concerns and turn it into local action, or perhaps it will motivate us to volunteer with an organization working for a similar type of cause, in an area that we CAN influence.💙🙏🏽✌🏼🌅
Who is “you?” Who is “them ?” In this scenario? What is it you want done and when will you do something constructive about it? Please read post by Saly-Luz, which is a thoughtful response to the situation, I.e. no rant.
Why am I not surprised dam public touching and crowding him all the time don’t forget their is also a guard sat on the horse endangering them too keep your distance
Think I remember watching a program on it! It was an organised protest I think, can’t remember why, think it was something to do with the restrictions being put in on horses on common and council lands?
We had a pony and cart procession passing along the seafront in Eastbourne a while ago, they organised this in aid of St Wilfrids Hospice. Maybe the London run was in aid of a charity.
While there certainly used to be an annual harness horse parade in London this definitely wasn't it. The people involved looked like gypsies, travellers or pikeys not a properly organised parade.
Happy to see these police officers ordering visitors move to behind the bollards. I love the horses, but they are working. People need to leave them alone.
I don’t know but these cops seem to just stand around , they don’t really move people away. One maybe should be standing by a horse all the time. Way too many people bother the horses to close way to close. Come up with a more better plan . Guards are baby sitters to people and kids. Help them.
They stand for ONE hour then are replaced. These horses live in the lap of luxury and are treated exceptionally well. They are NOT poor babies. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
@@armysenior1780... Ok you stand there in one spot, same position, with someone sitting on you for an hour. Maybe that's why they seem restless sometimes. Yeah, sounds like fun.
I just noticed that bicycle riders don't wear any protective gear in Great Britain, here in Australia you are heavily fined if you are not wearing a helmet
I'm really against horses being made to stand like that, its so boring for them, and isn't good for their legs. And there we are as horse owners making sure that our horses are stabled on rubber mats, and deep beds of shavings so that they are comfortable, and are not standing on concrete. 🙄🐴
What's it like over there in Australia cars and other vehicles must give way to horses still, you can actually fined if there are horses on the road and cars deliberately spook the horses❤
They need to control the amount of people allowed in this is awful to close contacts with viruses being so popular most places have control and keep this under control some are very rude
Tourists are impressed by the size of the horses, but someone needs to educate these people that these horses weigh in at about 1200 lbs on average. And that is just the smaller ones. If it were not for the horsemen who keep a tight rein on them, the tourists life could change from normal functioning adult to someone who receives coloring books for the rest of their lives, if they live.
Are we he horses on guard 24/7 or just Daylight hours? Having done Guard watches, not in this service but theNavy, it is so boring & yes tiring to complete for we humans never mind horses.
They take the horse back to stables. Unfortunately, possibly, the horse gets to know if they fuss they will go back and get oats and hay and relax. I am surprised that we haven’t heard that any horse got sick from all the people who touch it. They should cordin off the horse so that no one can touch. Horses get sick from people too.
maybe put photo box opposit on the path where people are now a box opposit guard and horse let them take photo , and move them on keep moving them on photo from a box opposit side of path, then move along , why justvlet them all stand and stare. not fair on either guard or horse,
Me too. Even if its for one hour, it probably makes it unbearable for them to have to stand in one spot, putting up with all those people contiuously coming up to them. I am also wondering if sometimes it is sunny in those spots at times. What is that procedure for anyway? Why is it necessary, when they have armed guards out there as well?
The horse didn’t go berserk. He just didn’t like the other horses he was fine with the crowd. A bit of a nipper but that’s all. The travelers horses were just the straw for Luxembourg.
Such great horses and guardsmen. The people touch the horses with hesitation and it can tickle a horse… but not in a good way. Or a bee or wasp or horse fly can make the horses extremely agitated. And fussy or bolt. Public should be respectful of the size, power and fear of a horse. Biting, kicking and running are their go to moves.
Oh my goodness slack guards headstall is wack on one horse the other one has its tongue over the bit. The toe is to long on one horse I bet it trips. Clean up guys and gals.. Horse ppl notice. Keep doing us proud. Well your king and country too❤
Berserk?? I know you have filmed these horses long enough to know berserk when you see it. Why the major click bait? Not getting enough views? Click bait is the kinder term for straight out lying. He clopped around a bit extra - that surely does not qualify as berserk and you know it. You don't have to lie to kick it. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
22:50 - Typical. Wanting to be the center of attention, she grabs a hold of the horse, and acts like she is a "horse whisperer", as the horse tries to push her away, then she walks away grossed out because she touched a horse! "Now my hands are disgusting!"
Yes I’ve noticed some of the guard horses that are having trouble or feeling discomfort with that metal thing in their mouth. They should examine their mouth carefully and make sure they’re feeling comfortable even when they’re calmer than being restless before letting them go & be happy!! ♥️🐴🇨🇦
@@darlenegreen8618 Yes I agree, plus someone who is very trained with horses said there is 2 metal things in there mouths, an O shaped one and an S shaped one, it’s no wonder they be so uncomfortable and the guards pulling the straps effects the metal in the horses mouths, it honestly sounds like torture and probably an old fashioned thing, it’s concerning and also how horses can sense and feel others can be overwhelming when so many crowds of people are around them with lots of different vibes, even when the horses “play up” I’m surprised they don’t react worse than what they do, yes you are absolutely right they definitely need to check the horses mouths a lot more, I also think the crowds need to be more managed as this isn’t entertainment, they are working and protecting the king
The bits are used to guide the horse by the rider. Good riders will have light hands and not abuse the bit. The horses definitely can be abused by a bad rider. I’m sure these guardsmen are not abusive.
What people should understand is that the Kings guard and horse don't stand there for the fun of it. They are working.. It is the idiot tourist that don't care and cause unnecessary problems which could have been avoided if they behaved themselves. People are too much in the horses face. There needs to be control by putting up barricades for the sake of the guards and horses. Why must people touch the horses. Leave them be. They are not trophies. They are working
