For the Record. Fishing For Fishies the song gets stuck in my head often, and I love it. The album is probably my second favorite King Gizzard. Paper Mâché Dream Balloon is my top.

Kinda feel like he under appreciated Boogieman Sam, easily my favorite off the album and in the upper echelons of KGATLW song for me personally. Glad it got the 7 though, definitely deserves it on sheer creativeness and boldness alone. These guys are really forging their own path

Vampire Weekend and Big Thief damn it!!

Gonna spew this story to the void - This summer I was canoeing down a Lake with some freinds, we were canoeing out of our camp to go hike and my freind brought his speaker. I remember vividly when I heard him play this song and still reflect on how much of a vibe it was. The song fishing for fishies introduced me to what would become my favorite band, while I dig the review, the title track is still a 10/10 for me.

Thank god you’re back from the tour, I’ve had this album in my library for 2 weeks waiting for your to tell me if it was good or not

I went into this album sceptical because I haven’t always been a big fan of the folky-bluesy-acoustic stuff from King Gizz, but I was pleasantly surprised! It’s a really decent album, and whilst not one of my favourites from them, it’s definitely the best of their ‘softer’ albums for me

I'm really happy he waited a couple weeks to put this out because it gave me ample time to listen and digest this album on my own before engaging in his opinion. I really enjoyed this album, and I find it funny that the reasons he would list for disliking a track would be the very same reasons I'd like it. Fantano's descriptive accuracy and musical knowledge is a powerful reference point, but this channel is a much richer experience if one has experienced the reviewed material before watching. Now it's time to make an extremely clever and original joke about anthony saying n***** or something idk

Cool that you mentioned Canned Heat. That was one of the big vibes I got while listening to this for the first time. I feel like the album really grows on you. With each listen you can discover new things. The "show tuney" verse of Real's Not Real reminds me more of something ELO or Elliott Smith would do, rather than a show tune, but I see what you mean. To me the odd one out is not the title track as that has a shuffle beat that coincides with the overall groove of the album. Although 'Acarine' has an almost jarring shift in its feel. It's very proggy, akin to something they would have done on Polygondwanaland. I love the song though and it flows nicely into Cyboogie, so it works.

Yeah, that feels like the right score. Love the album but King Gizz definitely feel like they're still developing as artists. They're gonna make a 10/10 some day though, I'm sure.

It's definitely my favorite Album I have of them on Vinyl(Oddments, 12 Bar Bruise, San Francisco Live '16 and Fishing For Fishies). Best track for me is Reals not Real. It's the first track on side B of the vinyl and the intro just gets me into the grove for what's to come

"The Bird song" is what pushed me to listen to the entire album. I initially thought the rest of the songs would be heavier and figured that "The Bird song" would be my top favorite of the record, but then I started listening to the entire album and when "Fishing for Fishies" started it took me 10 seconds to realize that was gonna be my favorite song without a doubt. I can't stop listening to it. I love with KG comes up with this catchy folky tunes!

This album has grown on me and become one of my favorite from the gizz wizz. Probably their best since flying microtonal banana.

Good review! 11/10 for me, I can't put it down; every new listen through feels deeper and I'm excited for more. This is some transcendentally trans-genre musical storytelling forcing us to look within to find the way out. Albums I hope Fanthony will review someday: 1. I agree with the rating but I actually liked fishing for fishies song and Ambrose’s little pop ins but maybe that’s because I’m a Murlocs fan, it’s definitely weird and a tad jarring on first listen but that’s what I expect from a couple songs on a gizzard album

I honestly think they are getting better at crafting albums, fishing for fishies was a pretty solid album and I love blues music

I give it seven as well. There are points on the album where it seems to get a little repetitive at times, but overall this album is really good. Apart from all the singles, Real’s Not Real is my favorite.
