Wow, Chuck, thank you for this incredible tip! My brand new American Standard kitchen faucet (Cayenne One-handle pull down from Menards) was only a week or so old when the hot water side slowed dramatically. I did as you said - shut off the hot water under the sink, disconnected the hot water line, placed the line (the one connected to the faucet) in a bucket, placed my hand under the faucet to stop the flow when I turned the cold water on, then turned on the cold water. When I checked the water in the bucket, only a few specks of sand-like sediment were in there, but man, when I reconnected the hot water line and turned it on from the faucet, I GOT FULL PRESSURE AGAIN. You're a good man for sharing this. Thank you!

Texas here after the post-free Snowpocalypse , once I opened up the main water valve, I ran into this problem of having low pressure on the Kitchen Faucet and the Showerhead. Both only on hot water and indeed it was rust build-up from the pipes. Glad to see the process of backflushing it.

Thanks. I think this is what I needed. Aerator not blocking pressure. Likely faucet like this needs back flush, or supply valves blocked. Soon to find out. 👍

I used to have a kitchen faucet with the pullout sprayer like the one in your video then I decided to move up from the stone age and bought a kitchen faucet with a pulldown and what a difference.Thank you for the video Chuck,God bless you and yours.

I upgraded too about 6 months ago. Love the function of new faucet but it has more narrow lines and TINY filters that collect hard water sediment. I have to clean it at least once a month.
@mariaolivia1156

@@godofthebiblespeaks3188how do u clean them?
@godofthebiblespeaks3188
@godofthebiblespeaks3188 Год назад
@@mariaolivia1156 1)The first thing I do is pull the faucet head out a bit and put a chip clip (like for a bag of potato chips) over the hose to keep it from retracting into the faucet. (That happened once, and it took me 2 hours to feed it back up through the faucet to reconnect it, because I was working solo). 2) Put something in the sink to cover the drain in case you drop some of the pieces. 3) Unscrew the faucet head. If you look at the end that connects to the hose, you can see little stones/chunks in there from the hard water. I tap until those fall out. 4) On the side of the faucet head where the water comes out, I unscrew the circular piece in the center and clean out the sediment. Then I put it all back together. 5) On occasion I note that the water pressure becomes low (usually for the hot water on my faucet), so if the steps above don't work, I turn the water off (turn valve under the sink) and then take the handle off and clean out the stones/chunks that are clogging the valve. Hope this helps.

@@godofthebiblespeaks3188 thanks! We found all the dirt in the quick connect glacier bay cartridge, I dont even know how my husband realized deep inside of it, 2 filters that pull out! hand mixer attachment worked wonders taking them out!

using compressed air through the spout backwards mostly does the trick also, unhook both lines and blast it hard, lookout for flying chunks :)

CB: when you're supervising CB2 through the apprenticeship can your plumbing business show him all that he needs to know or do you need to farm him out to others to get all the required experience?
@ChuckBarron
@ChuckBarron 6 лет назад
good question. I only do service work and renovations. I have done a ton of new construction which I do not do now. As you know thats a whole other animal. So its possible. Up to him when that time comes.

Normally I go right to banging on the side of the faucet with the rubber end of the channel locks.... If they replace the old faucet with one of the new pull out ones, the rust is gonna reek havoc on the fixture... Good job, tomorrow is the end of my vacation pre summer rush.... back to the salt mines..

ya the smack upside the faucets head did not work in this case...lol. the best part is they need new faucets and homeowner son does that sorta stuff for them.

simple task.....disconnect one supply of valve. put that supply in bucket that is attached to faucet. open faucet while holding spout and it forces water down the opposite side..usually works.

Good video but why did you have to go under the house? What did that gain you? And what was that you mentioned about electrolysis at the beginning of the video? And at the end of the video when you said "We'll pass it along to the customer" after your son told you the faucet still leaked, what was that about?

🟠 HERE IS ANOTHER FIX: First shut off the main water source, then run a garden hose from the neighbors house or completely separate water source. Attach the garden hose to the the clogged water fixture. There are adapters available at home depot if you dont have a perfect fit. Open all connected faucets and/or fixtures, and also remove the GPM flow-restrictiors from these plumbing fixtures which will allow and backwash the collected sediment/clog out the other way through these fixtures. Run hot water through the garden hose if possible, hot water can potentially loosen up sediment and clogs better. Alternating from cold to hot in 5-10 minute intervals can also expand and contract the pipes loosening clogs/sediment up as well.
