+HailCthulhuFhtagn With the loss of David Bowie, it is a good time to reflect on Klaus Nomi. Sometimes a real measure of greatness is the ability to recognize greatness in others, this is how I feel about these two performers. I present both to my students, so if needed they can feel great about themselves.

I know it's irrelevant, but Maria Callas died just one month after Elvis Presley did. But Klaus said that Maria Callas and Elvis Presley were his "spiritual parents". Cool, huh-huh.
4:45 God, I love the way he takes this mask off his face. One second he is the spookiest creature in the universe and the next he gives you the warmest smile one can ever imagine. Probably all great artists can do that... but Klaus was something else - and still is.
He gets into another universe when the music starts, pure expression, and then he just returns to Earth as if nothing ever happened, wow,he definely was and still is one of a kind, gone too soon!
That seems to be the intent he had with the noises at the beginning and end, almost as if he was appearing from and into a time warp... like the graceful beautiful alien he was. :)
To think that Klaus recorded this shortly before his death...and how misunderstood he must have been in his day, but still believed in beauty so much to make this come to life. All the outcasts through history, with hearts of gold. I am thinking of them today. Thank you, Klaus Nomi.
Klaus Nomi is the most beautiful human being i have laid eyes on... when he wears his triangular suit, i swear you can see a shimmer of heavenly tranquility glinting off of his perfect angles...
I'm 40 in a few days. Never heard of him before. Found him accidentally. Almost cried. Hoped he was still alive and making music. Found out he died when I was a child. Saddened. Sorrowful. Had hoped to explore a long career of wondrous talent. He is gone. Hope dashed. Life extinguished. Galant, voice rings on.
Klaus Nomi was a very talented fella. He was a cute little fella. Seems a bit shy. But kind. I bet his lemon tarts were good! Its sad his talents were short lived.
Interpretation très émouvante et d'une sensibilité inimaginable. Cet artiste à la carrière si brève aura laissé une empreinte indélébile dans l'histoire de l'interprétation ❤❤❤
in the begining people gets laugh a little, but after, AS ALL OF US WHO WATCH THIS PERFORMANCE AT THE FISRT TIME, they get schocked with this marvelous man
His smile is the most beautiful and precious thing...I can't even begin to describe how much I love it and him. He is incredibly beautiful inside as well as outside. A true sweetheart 💕
Notice how at the start he wasn't happy with the sound system response, but worked the mike to adjust as best he could, to still deliver this level of performance. So happy planet Nomi must still be to have received its own back.
I don't know when I've heard a more beautiful voice, not mannered like so many "classical" singers but sincere. I knew nothing of this man until now. They used to call singers like this "countertenors" or even falsettos, but he fits the more recent category of male soprano because his tone is so gorgeous, no break or nasal quality.
This is divine beauty. The ending conjures visions of Klaus Nomi piloting a crash landing spacecraft destined for fatality, contrasting brilliantly with Nomi's sublime performance. I *must* watch for a third time!
I’ve watched it MORE than 3 times! A lot more! Lol this singing he did was his calling and where he shined the most (not that rock & pop stuff he did and tried to capitalize on).
I could fall in love with Opera now...Klaus you are amazing and so gifted. You have blessed our simple earth with some hope for diversity and no more divisivness.
I return to this video again and again and it never fails to move me and give me goosebumps all over my body. What a talented singer. Shame the record companies in the US never got him. Imagine if he could have fulfilled his artistic potential. What a gift, and what a loss.
So, so beautiful. The performance was otherworldly; I can't hear Klaus singing this without bawling. This aired when I was three days old. So glad I shared the earth with Klaus ever so briefly. He left us too soon, but what a memorable legacy! xoxo
English translation: My heart opens to your voice Like the flowers open To the kisses of the dawn! But, oh my beloved, To better dry my tears, Let your voice speak again! Tell me that you are returning To Delilah forever! Repeat to my tenderness The promises of old times, Those promises that I loved! Ah! respond to my tenderness! Fill me with ecstasy!
Incredible! For my taste i never heard a better version of that aria EVER. Maybe just because it was only down to his voice at that very show. Fantastic.
Every time I hear his voice it brings tears to my eyes. His voice was so beautiful. Had he not passed so soon, there's no telling how far he would have went. One can be sure he would have been a colossal success, and how more more enriched our lived would be.
Oh yes i love his voice he was unique and he stood out! And just so amazing! I love the alien way of him moving his arms. I love his music and videos. And I do adore his smile. And his slanted eyes! He was the greatest. I love you Klaus. Where ever you are
Un humain doté d'une voix très particulière et unique! Il a été une source d'inspiration pour plusieurs autres artistes célèbres. Et encore aujourd'hui plus jeunes générations sent inspirent.
He was a pastry chef? Well now we know why he had such a sweet smile :) I'm happy that even in those days people appreciated such kind of talent. His voice is captivating ...
Excelente registro vocal y que sensibilidad extraordinaria , recién conozco su trabajo y estoy enamorada de su arte y hermosa voz ..Dios te tenga entre su coro de ángeles
Whats sad is there are people who harbor nothing but contempt and disdain for someone who was probably more moral and ethical than they'll ever be. Hard to believe God would condemn this man for his orientation. RIP Klaus, you were one in millions.
Вы видите его глаза, его улыбку? Его душа чиста и прекрасна. Клаус, как никто другой заслуживает любви и преклонения. Кто как хочет, а я люблю ЕГО. И моё мнение о нём никогда не изменится.
