Folks, why don't you listen to the content of what she's saying instead of her delivery. Being in front of the camera and reading a teleprompter is not something most laypersons people are good at. Let's just focus on safety!

Motorcycle pants don't help you if you leave them at home. Mine were at home during my last crash, because I didn't want to spend the time to put them on and then take them off at my destination. I'm shopping for knee pads now.

My argument exactly. For your daily commute, you want something easy on, easy off, and don't go too fast! So.... wanna share what you eventually converged on? I having been using the cheapo Fox knee+shin-guard and i think they are fine. Unfortunately, they scrap against my tank. Would be interested in hearing about your research.

Pants are good for saving skin, but a good pair of knee braces can save your ability to walk. it's better to have a combination of both

Motorcycle pants are fine for kids who just want to go for joy rides but they are impractical for those of us who depend on a motorcycle for real transportation. Walking around the grocery store while dressed like a Power Ranger isn't what anyone cares to do.

Can't say I agree with that. My bike is my main form of transportation, my motorcycle pants are kevlar "jeans", who just look like regular denim jeans except that they are hell tough. My boots are leather made to look like regular street wear. The only thing out of the ordinary is my jacket (haven't found one which looks "normal" and still offers the same protection) and of course the inescapable helmet. But from the waist down I look normal

What about motorcycle knee pads. Should those stay on right? I plan on getting a motorcycle gurdle for extra hip protection

Hi Deidra, having a hell of a time finding pants that fit. I'm a skinny 6ft-4" some "small" "medium" or "large"... just doesn't do the trick. After ordering 2 different pants (online) that were not even close...I'm a little frustrated. a little info for you riders: the highest percentage of non lethal body damage starts at your feet with the percentages go down as you move up your body. My first accident was an end over and landed on my knee..ouch!

What's your thoughts on wearing Kevlar jeans all day but taking out the knee pads that come with it and strapping on removable pads over the jeans when you're on the bike. I find the biker jeans comfortable but if you're in Kevlar jeans all day the native pads become very bothersome so it would be nice to be fully protected but not go through the rigmoral of changing trousers (yup, I'm from the UK ;-) ) when getting on and off the bike. Just strap on the knee pads and away you go.

Knee pads have impact protection, but most lack any abrasion resistance. That's why you typically wear the armor inside the abrasion-resistant Kevlar jeans. Some newer riding jeans offer armor that's still CE-rated without being bulky or bothersome. Take a look at the REV'IT! Lombard 2, Philly 2, Dainese D1 EVO, and Bonneville Jeans. my thing about mc pants is the price + durability. after a crash your out 200$ give or take and you have to buy a new pair. Now if you have on knee protectors and say forcefield shorts im sure you would be out 30$ on jeans but those pads should give you a couple crashes. Plus most of the mc pants are so baggy and strange fitting im sure the padding inside would just move around once you hit the floor.

I bought a pair of motorcycle pants but discarded them because the knee pads didn't want to stay centered on my knee caps and that defeats the purpose.

My experience is the same.. Pads don’t sit tight on the knee cap and I’m concerned at times if they move around and expose the knees when crash happens !
