@@de-bodgery "Been soldering for 30 years now" I guess it makes sense! That's a whole lot of experience. Keep up the great work! The views may not be high (right now) but I'm guessing the people who are watching all the way through. Are you buying all of these components yourself for testing or are they being donated to you in some way? Best regards
@@ElectricBikeLaboratory Some stuff gets donated, some I buy out right like the Pro, BAC8000 and X-9000 I have. Same for the QS165 and TP-128 motors. I bought all of that hardware. This kit is "borrowed". I will have to send it along to its final destination after a while. I personally would NOT EVER buy a Rush controller! It's such a steaming turd! NO WAY would I waste my money on it!!!
It's enjoyable to do tear downs of hardware! I get as much out of this as does my audience! I'm curious and inquisitive by nature. I do this because I love it! In the process, my many years of electronics back ground also allows me to assess good hardware and bad. In the case of everything I've seen so far from KO, sadly that means bad hardware! I do try to help them improve!!!
I'm assuming you want something that is designed to fit the bike right? Right off the bat, if it isn't something with a full FOC suite like VESC, Nuckular or ASI, I'm not going to recommend it. Pretty much everything else including KO products are based on a lower power CPU that can't run the full FOC functionality. Of those options VESC is the best one with a VERY broad selection of controllers to choose from. For your application the EBMX X9000 or Trampa STR500 are both great options.
@@Jdawgwrx OF course you got an X-9000! I saw you were being sarcastic. I was back with the "is that a legitimate question" comment. Gonna say this prediction...X-9000 is more powerful than the Rush in pure amps delivered despite the many more mosfets that are higher amperage in the Rush.
Alcohol will work. Some wash off with water. I use xylene...it washes off everything! Brake cleaner works too. You don't need harsh chemicals like I use.
I like a pretty controller as much as anyone does. However, that's the box that the parts that matter go inside of. FIRST THING is make a good controller! THEN after you nail that down, work on the box it goes in! KO doesn't understand this!!! All they have is a pretty box. So yeah...totally agree.
It’s so hard to believe they would be so shitty I had such high hopes they really know how to talk there stuff up glad I didn’t buy it I was going to think I will go x9000 or have you seen the electro co one Sur ronster put on his new black light bee it’s only 500 and he said it’s better then ko and better then bac 4000
I wanted the Rush to be better too. I wanted what tricky Chris said to be true and it's the same steaming turd as ever! X-9000 is a good choice. They listen to feedback unlike KO! They will have another controller out soon that runs at a bit higher voltage. I'm sure the feedback they have gotten so far is getting incorporated into that new controller. I have read about the ElectroCo controller, but that's all. I don't know anything about it.
Should look into ebmx 9000 bricking issues going on. Know of 3 people personally that there 9000 controllers bricked when trying to update firmware. Many others are starting to report the same issues online as well.
@@JRIPFPV I ASKED Matt about this "bricking" issue. He's quite transparent and forthcoming! "Bricked" is the wrong term. "Temporarily unresponsive" is much more accurate. Matt did know about this. They are adding the programming cable as part of all future kits they ship. Up til now, it was a separate item. However in situations where something happens with a firmware update, VESC has the ability to recover the CPU even in really horrible situations! The programming cable makes that recovery possible and so I repeat "temporarily unresponsive" since it isn't really "bricked" at all. The programming cable gets this issue fixed every time! The only reason why the "list" seems to be growing is due to the numbers of X-9000 controllers out there is increasing rapidly! This issues does happen, but it's pretty rare! It's like battery fires, they happen, but how many people have seen one in person?
@@JRIPFPV easily fixed with a program cable, which Matt is sending out to those that need them. Once you are in the latest firmware you will be problem free.
@@de-bodgery Where is a side by side with the EMBX? Between my and my friend we have both a KO Nano and a EMBX and they both work just fine - this is just ugly marketing - your comments are just opinion and complaints not backed up with empirical data. Just my opinion.
@@richcarruba9694 I did a side by side with the X-9000 and the Pro controller. I have since sent back to EBMX the unpotted hardware I had. I can't do this with the X-9000 and the Rush. I honestly don't think it would matter as the Rush is the same steaming turd as the Pro or Fspec!
@@richcarruba9694 opinions? He's giving us a breakdown of the circuit, component by component and telling us what the parameters are of some of the components. None of that is opinion. I'd say this is 10% opinion/90% empirical data and while his opinions can be harsh they are hard to disagree with. Do you want someone that sugarcoat shits for manufacturers or do you want someone that pushes manufacturers to give us our money's worth?
