This Land Rover Series 1 has been abandoned since the 1980's. It was apparently parked up after it broke down and hasn't moved since. Its now become one with nature.
I passed one yesterday here in Yorkshire , just parked up in a farmers dilapidated shed, eventually they will move in along .Every time I pass by I can’t help myself and look ! ❤
My favourite vehicle from the UK.🇬🇧 I wish I had one of those, but they were never sold in my country. They look way cooler than any modern plastic "offroader"
Seem to remember there were more Landrovers there when we used to cycle home in the mid to late 70’s. They haven’t moved for nearly 50 years to my knowledge. Strangely enough I am lucky enough to own a 1952 series 1 ex NZ military with a capstan winch. Pleased to say it’s in a lot better condition!
Indeed there were. Always loads of Series and Discovery 1's there upto 10yrs ago. I should have twigged regarding the NOT Series 2 1965 as I've seen it with a green militarty trailer attached before.
When I first saw this (late 80s, early 90s), there was another earlier Series 1 in the hedge behind PAF808. I wonder how much of it is left as it already had a tree growing through it.
I wonder where its sister PAF809 is???? It was parked up where the other (CORRECTION) '65 registered Series 1 is a few years ago. It was captured by street view in 2009 parked outside as well.
@@Bongtwashes Had a google....couldn't find it has featured by may have been a passing shot. A 1952 series was used though so may well have been that you recall: www.imcdb.org/v359421.html
She must of been there well over 30 years now! Most landrover enthusiasts know she is there! The owner used to do a lot of landrover trials back in the day. She has weathered well really!!
@@Dave.w-ev9qn1962 That's exactly what I heard and to quote "Its part of the hedge now so let it be" has also been bounced around. No idea on its truth though. Would be incredible to restore it but I feel its best off left where it is really...symbolises a bygone era perfectly.
You are correct. Its been pointed several times in the comments. I'm not too clued up on LR's so purely went by the reg which was my mistake. We are all here to learn. I prefer the hedge one.
Both are series 1s btw, that one in bushes really needs rescuing, looks like the one on the left is still being used hopefully that one in the bush gets restored 👍
@@tanks4lyfe509 Thanks for the info. Always good to learn something new. You were also correct on it being used. I just checked.....a day after I did the video it comes up as taxed til Jan 2025 & insured!!! So definately back on the road at some point. Though the '52 will never be.
@@DipstickUK no worries, we'll you never know somebody may buy it for a good price, it deserves a second chance, somebody will probably get it eventually, it makes me sad seeing land rovers abandoned, but thanks for the video, my dadwas very intrigued about it, we want another landy he regrets selling all his, mainly the 80' series 1 and the 88' series 1, have a good day 👍
Rescue the old girl, and give her a home!! My 1957 series 1, Land Rover is still going strong after all the years. Same with my 1965 series 2A 109 is doing fantastic too. I'm the original owner of both Land Rovers. Only in a Land Rover it's a way of life.
never been there but heard of the place, there was rumours of a second series 1 behind it, which your video confirms when you checked the back wheel it was actually the front wheel of the one behind (you can see the front wing at 3.35)
