How I face lather:
1. Start out with Stirling soap and a synthetic brush.
2. Wet the brush and shake off couple times.
3. Load as needed (10-20 seconds for synthetics. 30-60 second + for natural hairs)
4. Paint the lather onto the face for a even spread.
5. Add water to the brush, dripping with the fingers, and paint it evenly.
6. Agitate the lather in circular motion and paint the lather
7. Repeat step 5 & 6 until desired consistency of lather. Lather should be easy to rinse off the razor with water. If the lather is stuck on the razor, it means that the lather is too dry and should add more water.
Products Used:
Soap: Stirling Noir sample (22)
Brush: Maggard 22mm synthetic

Buen video Tim, found out that samples can go a long way and those syn brushes are lather monsters. Same as a well broken in boar brush (semogues).

Tim, lather's great but how's the slickness?
@TimShaves
@TimShaves 2 года назад
It's great. Stirling when hydrated, makes for some of the slickest lather

Can you please tell me what you do differently with Badger brushes, apart from the 30-60 sec load. I have a hit and miss with those. And do you have different results with different types of synthetic knots/bristles?
@TimShaves

For badgers, I soak it for 2-3min and load heavier. I just accept the fact that I get less optimal result with natural hairs. For different synthetics, I haven't noticed any difference in performance but just difference in face feel/backbone.

@@TimShaves I wonder why that is that natural hair doesn't seem to do the same, there must be a way around it. Is it the water load?
@TimShaves
@TimShaves 3 года назад
@@majasmagic I think natural hairs absorb some of the water/soap/oil from the lather unlike synthetics. That's my guess for now because I've consistently gotten a poorer lather with natural hairs.
