Clyde has had ten years to plan his revenge and he most likely watched Darby for years to learn all about him. Darby may be a violent psycho but he lacks intelligence and self control and Clyde took full advantage. Remember Darby caught him off guard once before so Clyde did it to him this time, he caught Darby off guard and lured him away from the cops and Darby was too stupid to wonder why 🙄
@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 Agreed. You'd think Darby's vile dumbass would be extremely cautious about trusting anyone after getting away with what he did. That, and not for a single moment considering how convenient this escape plan seemed nor why some stranger had any interest in helping a nobody like himself...
@@wickedwitchoftheeast88 Clyde was lucky Darby didn't wear any gloves (considering how cold it was that day) that could have prevented the injection from working
@@kevinsamuelsghost685 Darby was caught off guard he didn't have time to grab any gloves and Clyde would have thought of that anyway he planned it so Darby would need to make a quick escape and he wasn't exactly Einstein or he would have been suspicious of a stranger warning him and helping him to avoid the cops
when he turned around and smiled.....the nightmare truly happened....as the cold wind blew, and the snowfall accelerated. Absolutely epic scene.....if I were Darby (which I am not, he is a hedonistic freak, totally devoid of morals, a criminal with zero direction on anything other than his own gain), if I were Darby... I would be beyond terrified. Mortified. This scene is art, and expertly executed. Just brilliant
The world is Darby. Listen to Clyde by $uicideboy$ it references the life of this “Clyde” the real one, the one you all know about but pretend he doesn’t exist, the one who makes the music you listen to by well spent and built up energy
@lukecrawford8329He instructed him to head there when he was disguising his voice….. the circumstances he orchestrated are brilliant; Darby thinks the police are after him for some reason and this contact offers crooks protection, likely from the drug trade he is involved in. Don’t forget Clyde could’ve easily snuck into his apartment while we was asleep, kidnap him and then dissect him alive….. all of this attention was part of the larger plan as well.
@@weakbird9644 Despite all this talk of Clyde being an intensely meticulous engineer who would know all the angles, he apparently builds bombs without any trigger mechanisms. The movie also asks us to accept that a couple lawyers can locate and transport said bomb without getting any other experts or authorities involved. Also, that someone as corrupt as Nick was redeemed by killing the bad guy and never suffering any direct consequences for his own injustices.
Yep. People who think they did it right are really reaching too. Maybe the writers got themselves into a box with an anti-hero story where the "bad guy" winning would probably have been the best received but for whatever reason copped out to whatever the heck they chose.
@@healfrac A friend of mine is actually a huge fan of Chicago Fire and loves Law Abiding Citizen but she had no idea that Clarence Darby is also the lovable and wholesome Mouch until I clued her in, now she hates me because everytime she sees Mouch she can't help but think about how much of a piece of shit he is in this movie lol.
@@thorbat Chris Stolte"s early roles were bad guys. This movie came out 2009 along with Public Enemies where he played a gangster, one of John Dillinger 's henchman Charles Mackley. But the following year Nightmare on Elm Street came out. I didn't see it but I think he played a sympathetic role as one of the parents who mete out vigilante justice to predator Freddy Kruger.
Either way he planned to shoot clyde while sleeping (thinking to drive by himself) or after which is shown on this scene, i find it brilliant by how inescapable his fate was still pulling the trigger judging by his character.
this scumbag deserved all of what he got. Darby was a pleasure-seeking, amoral psychopath, who cared nothing for anyone but himself. Fate met Darby that cold winter day. And Fate smiled. No...Fate grinned. Darby is a disgusting louse, the worst of the WORST of criminals. The criminal who HAS no soul left. He had sold his soul a long time ago. Butler's character had a soul left, but was so hell-bent on revenge that he became blinded himself. Thus, Fate arrived for him as well.
Darby killed his wife and daughter and raped his wife in front of him and Rice made a deal with that devil because all he cared about was his conviction rate Clyde did the world a favour getting rid of a scumbag like Darby and he made it so Rice would suffer the consequences of his actions for life because no matter how you dress it up Rice is partly responsible for Clyde going off at the deep end because he was denied justice. Rice will have to live with the fact his precious pride and ego got his colleagues killed because had he tried to convict Darby and go for the death penalty Clyde may have taken revenge on Darby and that most likely would have been the end of it. I wouldn't wanna live with that on my conscience that will eat away at Rice for years just like it did Clyde
In reality, TTX doesn’t just paralyse voluntary muscles, but also the diaphragm and intercostal muscles, causing respiratory arrest. So Darby would have been killed by the poison because it would stop him breathing, unless Clyde had special medical machinery directly close by.
@Dusan Milosevich As I understand it, you wouldn’t really be able to set the dose so that the toxin would paralyze Darby like this but also keep him from respiratory arrest. But the massive dose of adrenaline that Clyde gave him would also dull the pain from the torture by a lot, so let’s just suspend our disbelief of this movie’s biochemistry.
@@georgeofhamilton Or the dulling of pain was also part of Clyde's plan , because Darby wouldn't pass out from pain and shock, plus seeing through the roof glass the mutilation of his body and being unable to avoid or escape such demise (like he did upon Clyde's family) would be the perfect nightmare vision for such creepy and amoral rapist and killer
Best thing about this is how Darby walks right into his own demise. Clyde let’s him enjoy being in control the entire sequence, and just when he’s celebrating, he realizes he’s screwed. By then, way too late.
It does absolutely nothing to blunt the pain… And you're about to experience more of that… than you can ever FUCKING imagine. Gives me chills every FUCKING time
Still doesnt come close to the horror clyde and his girls went through the ginger fat bastard you cant fight fate? Oh yeah? You couldnt fight cholesterol until clyde cut it out of you twat😂😂😂
Thank God Darby wasn't wearing any gloves that day (considering how cold it was) otherwise Clyde's modified gun injection may not have worked as planned
Those needles looked pretty long and sharp. And bearing in mind how strong that toxin was I still reckon it would’ve punctured his skin and paralysed him.
Clyde would have thought of that. Remember he had 10 years to plan his revenge he probably watched Darby for years to learn his habits and Darby already caught Clyde off guard once so Clyde did it to him. Darby had no time to grab gloves, the cops were less than a minute away he grabbed his coat and ran. Darby is stupid if he had any brain cells he would have been suspicious of a phone call warning him about the cops and someone saying they want to keep him out of jail.
I mean, he was chased out of his apartment. He barely had time to grab the coat. That was planned. Otherwise, I'm sure Clyde's meticulous ass had backups.
I was wondering if there were any Chicago Fire watchers here. It's so weird seeing play this vile criminal when he plays such a sweet heart in Chicago Fire
It has been so long since I have seen this that I didn't recognize Darby as Mouch. And rewatching it, I can't believe this scumbag becomes the lovable Mouch a few years later
Since they weren’t needles that injected the tetrodotoxin into the his blood stream what were they as they looked relatively thick my guess is something along the lines of running spikes embedded within the gun that so happened to have the tetrodotoxin covering them instead? My other theory is that they were needles with a thicker injection ability
I daresay Clyde customised the gun himself and probably tested it out before he used it on Darby he’s very meticulous and plans everything out to the last detail. Remember Clyde has had ten years to plan his revenge and the CIA agent said Clyde’s job was to think and plan out assassinations on some very difficult targets so his revenge on Darby was probably easy by comparison especially as Darby is stupid and lacks self control he was easy to lure into Clyde’s trap
0:55 With Darby’s lack of care for this “cop” never seeing his family again, Clyde probably thought “He’s exactly the piece of shit he was 10 years ago….. good.”
Darby was thinking his life straight out of movie until... like really bro you straight-up never saw any red flags that you could possibly been of any importance or value to anyone let alone being like Jason Bourne or some shit? Lol
I'm still to this day curious as to how the cunningly created gun was produced the gun was clearly built with embedded spikes now we're they actually the spikes from a carabean puffer fish which doesn't sound plausible due to the fact they're a little thicker than what we saw embedded within this gun which brings me to my next question was the gun made with embedded needle tubes inside of the gun full of tetrodotoxin ready to penatrate human flesh upon pulling the trigger which ultimately lead to an unheard timer or mechanism trigger leading to the needles being released pumping said tetrodotoxin into the body?
btw OP, no offense and thanks for this epic video, but I think the description of "frustrated man," heh, falls most short. Does Nick no "justice." Oh wait, that was already paid in full and in perpetuity.
Hated how he didn't get justice against the system by the end and ended up being killed. Clyde was the good guy in this movie and the law and system was the evil that shoulda been destroyed by the end...yet like Yuri said in Lord of War "evil prevails" and the system continued on by the end.
The only thing I didn't like was durby's voice was paralyzed too. Id would have to hear him plea for marcy, screaming in agonizing pain while he was being tortured.
Dumas's "Count.........," another brilliant story AND the 2002 movie was OUTSTANDING, in JUST my opinion at least, underrated. GREAT rendition of the book. Mon. Villefort is one of my favorites, hahaha, the stark ambition, ARROGANCE, PRIDE, and GREED, only to meet HIS own Fate, along with the others for the INJUSTICE against Dantes. The revenge tales are the BEST, hahaha. And the moral lesson one of the DEEPEST. Ozymandius, Janus, Harvey DENT, on and on and on hahaha. GREATNESS, and then catastrophic loss. The tolls of the sins of one against another, PAID IN FULL, and in RETURN/KIND. LOVE IT. Does REALITY justice!!!!! And the METHODICAL calculations in such works by the protagonists, just epic.
At one point in the movie the detctives ask each other "Did we bring this on ourselves" And the real answer is Yes The justice system is corrupt from the top down .His wsife abnd child's killer got away with it so he took revenge
sins of the self, REPAID. But hypocrisy by Nick..... on full display? Or is Nick actually really indeed gone as well here? Just a different negative drive.
You know that if an actor is heavily despised even in real life he played the role perfectly similar to JESUS CHRIST 2000+ years ago I say similar because Darby was a hedonistic scumbag while JESUS was perfect in every way possible yet was hated/envied and crucified as part of GODS plan to lead the lost to becoming found again regardless to what JESUS had to go through we were given The Holy Spirits Presence not so that people may damn their SOULS/Conscience's to hell rather so that people could be saved via the blood of CHRIST that's only if they're adamant in not only seeking the truth rather that they to can save themselves through the presence of THE LORD THY GOD!
