God losing fluery, I sympathized for leafs losing reimer, but now I really understand edit: I understand fluery is much better than Reimer, I simply meant that Steve looked devestated by the Reimer trade and now I feel the same about fluery
I think how you lost Flower was way worse. I despise Whiny the Kid but man the look on Crosby's face cut me so deep. For all the trashing of Fluery's play in the post-season/Olympics (by people who I assume haven't watched any of the Pen's cup runs) there's 3 rings no one in Pittsburgh would be wearing if it wasn't for his play when it mattered most.
Greg Scholfield hell yeah. I only bring up Reimer because as a pens fan, I wasn't alive to see jagr traded so the extent of my heartbreak have been losing Staal and 2010-2014 which certainly isn't that bad especially compared to other teams. I mentioned Reimer more as a reference to the heartbreak the leafs have suffered, and I get a taste of it now with losing flower
Lance wasn't proposing a trade involving Carrick and Griffith, he was just pointing out that the Leafs would have 3 picks from the 5th round in 2012 if they acquired Miller. Otherwise, he wouldn't have specified multiple "deals".
FineMan31 living out west is great. His night of reactions are usually at ten and leafs games usually start at 4 so I don't have to wait long after school
ArtsyGreninja vegas might be able to get more if they choose to flip emelin at the draft or even at the trade deadline next year. That's what I assume they'll be doing with a lot of their players at least
or at least Plekanec if you want a veteran, at least he is a center and has more value for trade. I really don't get it.... Oh well, this made my day =D
when I first glanced at the title, all that I saw was "LEAFS LOOSE LEIPSIC, MATTHEWS" and I didn't see the "WINS THE CALDER" after Matthews name, and I had a heart attack.
read the Lance Hornby tweet you mentioned, I believe he is making mention that Griffith and Carrick are 5th rounders from the 2012 draft (as is Miller) a common thread between the 3, not that those two are going the other way in any deal.
you are going to make 100 videos, one video a day starting 100 days away from puck drop, highlighting a certain player who wore the corresponding number of how many days are left until puck drop
Fleury coming to Vegas was insane. I was there and as soon as they said who'd you take from Pittsburgh the whole crowd started yelling Fleury. Then Fleury came out and the crowd was insane.
Losing PIckard hurt. His numbers behind an atrocious team were better than Varly's over the last few years... But Vegas will have a great goalie set with Fleury and Picks unless they flip Picks for something. Still I can see that set being very good for them. And both have the best personalities ever so they'll be fan favorites.
Missing your energy in the off season Steve! I'm hoping you're going to be doing lots of pre season and Leafs Camp videos... I still have a "HAPPY HANGOVER" from the Leafs Season last year, but I am looking forward more than ever to next season. Especially now that our lads got their first playoffs exposure so early in the rebuild! I'm expecting them to be pumped and fully charged, ready to manage a better record from the start with fewer slumps now that they are all used to each other and honing themselves into a serious weapon of contention... I haven't been this keyed up about the leafs since the I was a kid in the early 70's. It feels good again to say "I'm a LEAFS FAN"! I'm just so proud of these kids and our vets that it's infectious! Keep your foot on the gas dude and I'm looking forward to every video you have coming... Thanks for your work last season. You projected every leafs fans sentiments exactly, And it made me feel that I wasn't the only one going crazy for our team. It was one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much last season
Thank you so much for not being like the rest of the Toronto media. The rest of them love shitting on western Canada. I hope one day that they realize there is a shit ton of non Ontario leafs fans. We outnumber Canucks fans in BC. The most popular team in Saskatchewan is the leafs. Toronto is the centre of the hockey media. But the province with the most NHL ers is Saskatchewan. So thanks for not shitting on us constantly. We understand hockey two
Did you just say the province with the most NHLers is Saskatchewan? I agree with most of your post but that is stupid. www.quanthockey.com/nhl/province-totals/nhl-players-career-stats.html
steve, you misread the connor carrick and seth griffith tweet. the person meant that we'd have 3 5th round picks on the roster if we made that trade, not that we would be trading the two other 5th round picks.
While I may be a bit biased as a Rangers fan, Brady Skjei seems like the most underrated rookie this season. No love in the ROTY voting, even though he had a terrific first season with stats that weren't far off of Werenski's
Just checked a couple of places, no news of a Miller deal. I think if it was a deal it would have happened by now. But, given my track record of wrongness that may not mean much. Some think Miller would have been part of a deal for the Leafs to expose Liepsic, and that Carrick was some rambling connection to a previous trade or draft year. I read the original Hornsby statement. I think it was confusing. Once again, words fail Hornsby. Miller seems to be the kind of player Vegas will want to keep. They may want to deal Methot--if you wanted to point some fingers-- but I doubt the Leafs want that contract or a player of his advanced years.
5:55 lance tweeted that wrong imo. He was talking about the fact that it'd be 5th rounders from the 2012 draft (ie griffith, carrick, miller) that the leafs are eyeing
he wasnt saying griffth and carrick for miller.....he was saying if the leafs get miller then teyll have 3 5th round picks from the 2012 draft (all 3 of them were taken in the 5th round)
What the hell was wrong with all the reports about the 4th round pick between Florida and Vegas? Pretty sure it was announced Florida was giving the pick with Smith. Then many minutes later they corrected that saying it was Vegas' 4th round to Florida.
See my problem with Carrick is Babcock didnt have faith in him in the playoffs. and we are a playoff team now. If they believe in another player more in the playoffs then it'll be worth the price if Carrick.
Steve, HUGE fan here, been watching LFR and following you for years. I love seeing you on SN now, it adds a lot of fun to their otherwise repetitive programming. I've noticed recently you're talking more and more about personal accomplishments (doing videos for SN, getting book deals, etc)... please remember to stay humble and that your viewers are watching your videos for the specific title you posted. I know you're super excited (I am for you!), and when the videos and books come out, all your fans will watch/read/buy/love it, including me, but when you announce it the way you do in videos (the classic Dangle yell), it seems sometimes like you're bragging. Just a friendly note because I don't want you rubbing viewers the wrong way and I want to see your success continue (cough cough... someone has to replace Paul Hendrick when he retires). Love ya.
I think It's kinda sad how the leafs are trying to get Colin Miller by trading away Connor Carrick and adding in Seth Griffith. Griffith was actually a first-liner for the Bruins at the beginning of the 2015-16 season after a good camp. He played well with Bergeron and Marchand and had a bit of Chemistr with them before he lost his spot on the roster. Then this past year he was waiver claimed by Florida I think in like November, after again making the team out of camp, before going to the Leafs on waivers. And now he's apparently going to be traded for his former teammate Colin Miller, and wind up in Las Vegas, his fourth team so far in his career. I mean seriously, he's only played in 58 NHL games, give this kid a break. If he's ever going to develop, he needs to actually be on an NHL team for more than like two seconds. Hopefully he gets that in Vegas, and doesn't turn into one of these shoulda-coulda-woulda AHL guys
Matthews winning the Calder was awesome but Babs got screwed once again for the Adams! As far as Leipsic, I'm happy for him, he was p[retty far down the depth chart and would have been on the Marlies all season and now he will get some real NHL ice time.
AM34 yeah and a big reason why we have been what we are the past decade plus all comes back to Flower. He's a beloved figure for the team/city and it's hard to see him go. You'll understand in a few years when Auston's contracts start reaching their end and he has to resign.
A leaf player winning an award ... so this is what that feels like. The last "real one" (I don't think the Mark Messier one is meaningful) was Mogilny with the Lady Byng or the Selke in 1993 if you consider the Byng meaningless too. Way to go Auston.
Leipsic may turn out to be an ok bottom 6 winger some day, but he wasn't gonna make the leafs this season. He'd of been an injury call up with Sosh and Kap passing him on the depth chart (I know they're RW but a wingers a winger). Lievo and Rychel are on par with Leipsic (all LW) and with Bracco having a great season in the chl their is even more winger depth for Toronto. I hope he does well in Las Vegas (except when playing the leafs).
If the team Vegas picked isn't going to be their team regardless, they still could have picked better players AND flipped them for WAY more.. I just don't understand their logic and if I was a Vegas fan I would be PISSED!
Somebody needs to contact the Golden Nights front office. They obviously hired the wrong people for their front office. All these commenters on RU-vid seem to think they know more than the folks you have that have been doing this stuff forever.
a lot of people over valuing machessault, he got op line minutes and pp time that he would not have had if it weren't for the injuries. If Vegas give him top line minutes then he might get 20 goals which isnt bad but with both neal and marchesault being shooters i dont see them both on the top line, pushing marchy down tothe 2nd line by december unless he's in a "last man standing" situation in Vegas. Smith was a salary dump making over 5 mil and only getting 15 goals last season. I see the panthers going in on free agents again this year, at least i hope. Still not nearly as bad as penguins losing fleury, rangers losing lindberg, ottawa losing methot but i like how you go out of your way to take the shot at panthers and still were wrong lol
As a Blackhawks fan, I really don't know how to feel about TVR being taken by Vegas. I really do not. If Chicago gets a cheap d-man back comparable to him then its a wash and they focus on having to replace fucking Hossa. *Sobs*
the fact that they picked emelin for nothing makes me so happy :D Hudon, I would have been sad, but it was the logical choice. Plekanec, good veteran and proved to be a decent 3rd line center I would have been a bit sad too (not too much cause of his salary but eh..). But freaking emelin lol?! I like the big hits he can throw sure but.. Is there anything else this guy can do that others can't? Especially at his salary, damn thx las vegas!
Isles had to pay to get rid of that contract I am not upset. Grabo probably wont play again and Berube is a free agent in a week. Also paid to not have Vegas take Strome/Nelson or De Haan and look we flip Strome for Eberle so its all good.
