SAME SAME SAME! The level of detail, also! I have to be straight up and say this shows the level of intelligence she has… I think she hides it sometimes but it’s RU-vid so she has to “entertain”. Sawatdeekha!!!!! A million times 🦄🌈🙏🏻🙌❤️🧠
I am a native German speaker, but your English is so easy to understand that I can improve my English in addition to the Thai language. Your gestures and facial expressions and the humor are great so learning with you is a lot of fun. Many greetings from Hamburg, Germany from Franky
Hi Frank, Danke schön! I am very glad my video is helpful for you. How is your learning? There are other videos from my channel that may help you with Thai scripts. Please check them out. Viele Gruiße aus Bangkok :)
Is the same for me, I'm a Spanish speaker, and I'm improving my English skills with her videos, and at the same time, I'm starting to learn a third language. I'm in love with Thai, and I'm so grateful to find this channel, her vibe and explanation are so nice, and she makes me feel so motivated and enthusiastic in my learning process.
@@chetannagdeve7522 ... Every one else is learning a third language. Then an Indian arrives in the room having spoken three languages since before his mother weaned him off breast milk. Lol. I'm kdding. (Just a little joke about how very rich in languages India is.)
this video should have millions of views that the other thai alphabet videos have since this is the best way to teach a non thai speaker. i've understood so much more than the previous videos i've been watching to learn thai. it has been the most helpful video comparing to other ones even though this video gave just an overview! thank you so much for this, i'm even more interested and motivated to learn thai now
Out of all alphabet videos I have seen for Thai, this was the most organised, concise and understanding for a foreigner guy like me 🥺. Thank you so much 💕 #lovefromindia
Absolutely loved this video! It's so refreshing to find content that's both informative and entertaining. Speaking of learning, if anyone's interested in diving deeper into Thai, I've been using apps like Ling and Pocket Thai Master to expand my knowledge. They've been incredibly helpful in making learning accessible and fun. Keep up the great work with these videos-I'm already looking forward to the next one!
This presentation is a masterpiece for understanding Thai alphabet and reading system. Thank you for your clarity. And you should have way more views. Anyone who wants to learn Thai should be introduced to this video 1st.
Here to say that I've paid for and taken the whole course and I must say it is really worth it! My suggestion is to go for the lifetime bundle if you're relatively new to Thai language. I already had some foundation in reading the consonants and vowels and even then it took me more than 2 months to go through this course (granted, work's pretty busy and I'm doing this during weekends mostly). I've tried to learn how to read Thai through youtube (thaipod), pimsleur, and the book "Read Thai in 10 days". Nothing beats video lessons from Banana Thai. If you've been struggling to learn how to read Thai, I strongly suggest the entire course! They have lotsa coupon codes so sign up for the newsletter too!
I recently went to thailand for the first time and absolutely fell in love with the country. I am a complete beginner and am not the brightest of students but your videos are very informative and I love your attitude and personality :) hopefully I will get somewhere close to learning the language in the near future. I appreciate that there is people like you out there willing to teach so thank you!
I've been studying Thai now for about 3 weeks and this video just made sense among the rest of the videos I watched. I'm so glad I came across your channel.
I've watched a lot of video to learn alphabet and Thai language. And I have to say this one is the most educational, the clearest. Now I can understand. I from France, and your English is so clear too. Thanks a lot 🙏 Yves from France
Hi there, thank you! I think it's important to see an overview of what you have to go through in order to achieve your goal on the right track. What about you? Which level is your Thai? :)
@@BananaThaiSchool I'm on my way to become a basic learner, Kruu :)) just try to learn word by word at first, listen and repeat the words, watch the videos in Thai (with subtitle 2nd time) I can understand the content about 40~60%. I'm trying my best to learn by heart Thai alphabet and grammar
Thank you! This is a very great introductory video to Thai alphabet! I am an absolute beginner and have tried to start with other videos for my level. However, they are still quite difficult for me to follow. I have to say that yours really saved my life!
this video really helps me learn Thai easily. Love the way the speaker teaches, really encourage people, and thanks to the speaker, I could understand and pronounce Thai alphabet :)
Thanks for this instructive video. A questions: are the 3 consonants with initial s- sound somehow redundant? In other one are they a legacy of tradition or is their difference functional in Thai language ? And if so, as you seem to imply around 8:30, is there any discussion in Thailand to modernize the Thai alphabet?
NOW - I understand how Thai consonants are taught, and why! This video is a great introduction to learning Thai. I learned a great deal and much appreciate it!
How could I understand a 30 minute English video so easy where they explain another language and I couldn't even do my English homework this morning? Amazing
This video should 1m + views. It is the ONLY introduction to Thai language/alphabet structure that I have been able understood - I have been looking for hours now. It is super clear and simplified for such a complex subject. So glad to have found it. Wonderful!!! Thank you so much 🙂
Really interesting! I've been watching a lot of Thai shows online so I've picked up a few words of Thai here and there, and I got curious about the written script because I had no idea where to start reading, and this was really eye-opening. I was especially surprised that each consonant has an associated word with it at first, but thinking about it, that isn't really different to the English alphabet having names for the letters as well as the associated sound. I was also a bit surprised that there are different consonants with the same sound, but then I realised that this does actually happen quite a few times in the English language: x and z generally make the same or similar sounds, i and y sometimes do too, s and c sometimes do, but the big one I think is c and k. In fact, in the UK, when we're teaching kids the difference between the two, we even have associated words to go with the sounds! If both make a "cuh" sound, we call C "curly cuh" and K "kicking cuh". So actually the Thai system isn't so alien after all 😅 Obviously the two writing systems are hugely different in reality, but there are similarities between the two, which I find reassuring, and will help me to make it stick in my brain 😋
Thai writing is so difficult hahaha I learnt the 44 consonants and the vowels and couldn't read สวัสดีครับ. Because there are so many rules and special cases and don't get me started on tones with the crazy tone marks representing different tones depending on the initial consonants and the use of อ and ห. But the payoff is GREAT because your pronunciation and speaking will improve by leaps and bounds :)
Sadly not many people used กล้วย to imply as very easy anymore many younger generation see it as old fashioned joke word same as the word เรื่องหมูๆ nowadays with globalization many word replaced by english and some thai word getting modified into slang by social mediaand it ruin language.
Thanks It was helpful... I somehow speak thai but can't read or write After 20 years in the Kingdom...Anyway It Is very difficoult lenguage for his sounds and signs, only thing Easy Is grammar: no plurals no declinations of verbs or persons, ... Thanks again keep the Good job going
Kruu Banana thank you for your videos it’s very easy to understand but I’m thinking, should I learn to read Thai first or speak Thai first? I can speak very little thai but to listen to people speak is not easy and I just want to know if I should learn to read thai just yet or continue learning to speak..Kop kun ka
If you aim to reach fluency in Thai, it's critical to learn Thai scripts. IF you're not in the rush to speak Thai, then it's better to start with how to read basic Thai. It will take 3-6 months to read Thai with ease. If you're interested in learning Thai scripts, please feel free to check our my Read Thai course. www.bananathaischool.com/course/ultimate-thai-reading/
Many videos tell you what the consonants are, but none of them have explained as helpfully as you have. With examples and multiple explanations behind each consonant, omg sooo helpful to understand the components of the continents.
Actually i made a mistake thai did not habe these sounds, so i will do a sound table for you Old thai, sounds in parentheses are in sanskrit only, sounds in one parentheses only from khmer หม-sounds like a h before a m หน- sounds like a h before a n หญ- sounds like a h before the ny in canyon หง- sounds like a h before the ng in ring ม- m as in mom น,(ณ) - n as in no ญ- ny as in canyon ง-ng as in sing ป-p as in spot ต,(ฏ)- t as in stop จ-stop plus a sh but lips not rounded or polish ćma ก-k as in skirt ผ-p as in panda ถ,(ฐ)- t as in top ฉ-t and a s plus y ข- k as in kite พ,ภ-b as in bear ท,ธ,(ฑ),(ฒ), d as in duck ช,(ฌ, d plus a z and y ค,ฆ,g as in go บ-b but gulped ด,(ฎ- d but gulped ฝ-f as in fun ส,(ศ),(ษ)- s as in send ฃ-ch as in loch or bach ห-h as in house ฟ-v as in vine ซ-z as in zebra ฅ-loch but voiced, french r but softer ฮ-h but voiced หว- british white , h plus w หร- h plus trilled r หย- h plus y ว- w as in win ร- trilled r ย- y as in yak อย- y but gulped หล- h plus l ล,(ฬ)- l as in life
Hi teacher, I was amazed by your teachings but there is something that bugging me, I still don't get the concept of the consonants that has the same initial sounds( soo suea, soo rue sii, soo salaa) how to use those consonants in a word?
Hi khun Jeneva, there are no rules on when to use what. You just need to learn the words and see what consonant is used. But I can give you one tip. Most of the time ส is used such as สบาย (comfortable) สวย (beautiful) สาม (three) สกปรก (dirty), etc. You can open a dictionary and see words with ศ and ษ. In Thai, there are many consonants that share the same initial as well as ending sounds but they are one of them that are more commonly used. You can learn this topic from my Ultimate Guide to Thai Reading course ka. email me if you're interested.
I have a question Kruu. Is there a technique or anything for us to distinguish what consonant we should use because there are duplicates. Like for example: สษศซ or ทธถ in order for us not to memorize how every words are spelled.
Hu @chimonac, thank you for your question! This is one of the most frequently asked questions. However, there is no constructive rule to differentiate when to use what, but there is always one commonly used consonant for an initial sound. Such as -s sound, it's ส. -d sound, it's ด. -k sound, it's ข and ค. -t sound, it's ท and ถ. -l sound, it's ล. Please take a look at the link, I uploaded a slide from the course that highlights the commonly used initial consonants. drive.google.com/file/d/1DXKjD7SZ2Cs2oj3Y7w73mHyxL4VEg4A0/view?usp=sharing
wow.. love this.. I'm at level 3 of 9 thai language in-person class now, but I have not learnt to recognise the alphabets with a picture.. now I see how the letter looks some what like the example! soor seua alphabet looks like a tiger, goor gai looks like a chicken, ngoor ngu looks like snake, etc..
You look so much like an exchange student I was friends with in my acting class in high school. I don't remember her English name, but I think her nickname was ใบตอง so it's funny that your channel name is BananaThai
This is very systematic & easy to follow. She explained very well with examples however the remarks in black background could be in white & bigger so that we can read easily. Very good keep it up ❤
I have two things to say if I may,,, instead of the explanation of "Example word", its more the Consonant followed by an "associated word rather than an example word. The second point, which is trivial, Thai language didn't always have an associated word - but was introduced by an old king,,, isn't that correct? :)
Okay, I was super worried about this, but you are beyond helpful!! Thank you so much, this was BY FAR the easiest to understand out of all the material I have seen online. I'm definitely going to keep studying Thai through your channel!! 🙏🙏
Sawadee ka. I was adopted from Bangkok by Swedish parents and I grew up in Sweden speaking Swedish as my mother tounge, however recently I've become curious about learning Thai so I'm trying. Please do I look fully Thai or mix ka? Khup khun ka. I've learned a bit from my luk kreung friends.
oh my god your teaching style and techniques is amazing and right to my alley coz im easy to feel boring, easy to fade away could only stay concentrated at something interesting and your way and expressing i just laughs while learning Thai by laughs, I mean happy 😂 I just feel happy while watching you teach Thai so I am laughing and learning Thai at the same time You are amazing 🎉 Thank you so much 💓
This video makes me sad.. I am paying money for a thai face to face course.. in which I had about 4 hours of reading and writing.. while this video taught me more in 30 minutes
I don't understand why she pronounces goor like gaw. Is it because she can't say goor or because she doesn't know how to spell gaw? This is a terrible distraction while trying to learn a foreign alphabet. If it's gaw and I learn goor then regret taking the lesson. I need solid information before I allow my mind to remember what I am being taught. I'd rather learn nothing than to learn something wrong. I believe she meant gaw.
Wow! This was the most clearly explained foundation to understand before continuing with the lessons! Nothing I've seen before made much sense but now I'm excited for the lessons! Thank you so much!
The situation for me is I live in Thailand and I'm a preacher and I'm trying to learn Thai but it has to be a Bible or religious oriented so that I can explain to parishioners in Thai what the Bible is saying and I'm wondering could you help me with that if so how much are lessons
I've been studying Thai for a while now and have tried several reading/writing classes. Kru Smuk's Ultimate Guide to Thai Reading is the best one I've tried. It has already answered many questions I've had for years.
Hi James, I am glad to hear from you about your good leaning experience with my course. :) Please feel free to share with me if you have any ideas or suggestions to improve the course. Drop your email to keep in touch with me Krusmuk@bananathaischool.com na ka
why is the initial consonant not initial in writing..? what is this strange order for 😢🤯 yes i know in English it's also messed up, and yes i'm not happy about it either 😔
love it very much. thank you. do u have a video taking about word contraction. e.g. ถนน สบาย มหาวิทยาลัย, some time the word does not have all vowels. they do not show a or o. any rules for it?
