From a 60 year old - watching over all these years - I loved Bird & Magic - but when Michael came onto the scene - he was literally breathtaking - I loved Koby, Olaguwon too - I can see Lebron is also one of the greats - but I just have never got the same feeling as I did watching MJ - the dominance, skill, attitude, determination, unreal athleticism all round game - you knew you were watching a freak of nature who also worked hard - magical - My opinion is not based on stats etc etc - it is the eye test - watching them all over a lifetime

I think Jordan said it best. "I can't say I am the GOAT, that would be disrespectful to the others before me that I never got a chance to play against" That said Jordan eliminated a lot of players from the GOAT list because he beat a lot of the GOATS. And a lot of could be GOATS themselves (Magic, Bird) say Jordan is the GOAT. Well Bird never really came out and said it, but he did call Jordan "God in the body of Michael Jordan" I would say that means GOAT.

I respect what he does for the community but as far as all-time great basketball players here's the way I see it. LeBron James is an all time great specimen body-wise but Lacks the Killer Instinct and the basketball IQ to be dominant.

MJ this game: 69 pts, 18 reb, 6 ast, 4 stl, 1 blk, 2 turnovers - 23/37 (62.2%) FG, 2/6 (33.3%) 3, 21/23 (91.3%) FT - Scored 59.0% of team's pts; rest of team: 19/50 (38.0%) for 48 pts - Only 1 other Bull scored in double digits (Grant had 16; Pippen only had 7) Top 5 shooting guards of all-time: MJ, Kobe, West, AI, D Wade. Although, AI played point for about half of his career, so if he's excluded from shooting guards, then next up would be a fight between Gervin & Harden - Harden probably by the end of his career. Honorable mentions would be Drexler, Reggie, and Allen.

A lot of people get really heated over this debate, mainly because lies are told to push a narrotive and because people don't like what basketball has turned into. That is, little to no defence, flopping, loads of excuses for failure, sitting out 10 to 30 games a seasons to rest. You can have another player as the GOAT, but you need good argumentation to support it, most people just go to excuses,unfounded accusations and lies. However people saying todays NBA is better hits hard due to all the above mentioned new negative aspects in todays game.
