He IS!!! I have had the immense privilege of meeting Jimmy five times - beginning in 1988 on his solo tour for Outrider - and each time he's been humble, polite, sincere, sweet and instead of feeling like you're meeting one of the GODS of rock - he comes across as if you're meeting an old friend. He's a very genuine and wonderful guy!
That’s so nice to hear. I feel like everyone else that he’s a phenomenal guitarist. The best there ever was. He’s passionate about the music. It consumes him. The guitar becomes part of him when he’s playing. That’s one of the reasons he’s so great.
His smile when his was asked about the Zeppelin experience...was so absolutely sincere and beautiful. It's means far more than any of the words he used to describe it.
Just watched the concert (got it for Chrissie present) with the sound cranked right up. They all looked like they were so glad to be together. They performed with great enthusiasm - they certainly didn't look or sound like they were just going through the motions. Some of the camera shots of the young faces in the audience were just priceless. Keep it up Jimmy!!!
Never will be a genius such as Jimmy Page. I'm sorry I never got to see Zep live. I wish I would have caught his tour with The Black Crowes back in 2000. Never even heard about it when it was going till after the fact. Rock on James Patrick Page.
I have been very lucky to have spoken to Jimmy on a couple of occasions, and he really is a pleasant softly spoken gent.I think this all comes across in this interview.Keep rockin' Jimmy.
you can tell in this interview he was so excited to get back with zeppelin. i feel sorry for him that there wouldnt be any other shows after. the time to have done would have been then. i think its too late now :/
If it was ever going to happen it would've happened in 2008. Much too late now, unfortunately. Plant is the only one under 70. It's best to leave it where it is, sadly.
Gosh, Madison Square Garden and Earls Court were both just awesome. Rock n Roll, The Ocean, Black Dog, Going to California, Celebration Day.....the perfect live performances by led zeppelin
If I met Jimmy Page, I would be so speechless! Afterwards, I will faint and get mad at myself for fainting because I would miss meeting him! Jimmy Page you are my FAVORITE guitarist! NOBODY can play like you! Yeah sure we have the worlds fastest guitarist, but you are better because your songs are so hard and are written with such soul and passion! We need more music like yours in this world!
I love how Pagey doesn't answer some of the questions dead on, and spins his own version of an answer. Very clever and very "on message" as they say in politics. He's so charming and pleasant that you hardly notice. I wish there were at least 30 minutes more of this interview! I love this guy. Cannot wait for the O2 concert to be released on dvd!!!
i wish i could see him in concert.. i really wanted :( he looks so nice, in all pictures and all the videos i've seen form led zep he always looks so handsome.. I love this man, he's a lovely person and i don't care the age, he still the same. Anyway, i'm glad to know that a person like this exist. No one can replace him, with his 65 years he is the best
The greatest rock guitarist there has ever been, along with the greatest rock band there has ever been. I have always wanted to meet Jimmy page and absolute genius if ever there was one. Would love to have seen Zeppelin at their peak.
Wow, he is such a well spoken and polite man. You would never believe someone with such presence on stage would be so quite and soft spoken. He is most certainly one of my favorite musicians of all time.
So impressed with this guy. I watched Robert Plant's tribute to him, and I realize they are gentlemen first, rock stars second: amazingly humble, considering all they have done for music and, well, the human spirit...
I was born 1986, but I remember being actually inspired by Led Zep's sound when I first saw them in 2005 or so by a video that someone kept in my house. Strangely enough, but they are one of my recollections of my teenage life. It's quite cheering to know that they are still rockin' the world. A fine interview of the legend.
for me , this generation of musicians , Jimmy page , hendrix etc ) where the coolest musicians ever , and jimmy page is one of theyr musically leaders if i hear his sounds i get real crazy and i couldn`t live without this music led zeppelin for ever
my thoughts exactly. He is still attractive but he was so beautiful in the 1970's that it breaks my heart to look at him. someone really does need to invent a time machine.
a world tour would be stellar...they could charge any price they like & the fans would buy a ticket. 20 million fans wanted to go to this gig & something like 18 thousand tickets were sold. c'mon robert plant, sort it out with jimmy. there are millions of fans who want to see you
KlewieLewie ..for his age group,,,he is good looking, ,,and yes sexy too.. He has a sparkle in his, eyes,,can still play a mean guitar,,,,sexy? Absolutely. ! Also he is intelligent,,gentlmanly,,well spoken,,,and always smiling. Who in his age group wouldn't think he is sexy.
I was lucky and got to se Led Zeppelin in Albuquerque, New Mexico, (of all places), in May of 1971, This was very early in their touring career. But, even by then they already were a well seasoned band. (This was just after their 5th album, "Houses Of The Holy") That is the one thing that always impressed me about Jimmy Page. Their are few people that can not only play, and produce. He had his problems with the things that come with fame, but through it all, he always seems to be a gentleman.
Rock isn't about precision. We have music schools for that. It's about the experience...living it together, being transported to another experience shared only by the others present. It's one experience to hear a recording, another to share it with a friend, and another to share the experience in a small club, yet another in a larger venue, another in a huge arena. Same song. So precision can't be that important. It's the feel, the interplay of the band with each other, the audience..emotions...
this is really cool, because of after all my worshipping of the epic jimmy page, this is the first time ive ever heard him speak. hes always been a mute yet powerful embodiment to me but now i see hes got a great charismatic voice to match his charismatic guitar skills
