Make sure your Ledger Manager Firmware is v1.1.0 or newer! Are you having Ledger Nano S update issues? If so, I have the solutions for you to fix them! For example, if you are stuck on the MCU firmware is not genuine screen or the "Update" screen or "MCU is outdated", I have a few workarounds for you to continue with the update and successfully update your Ledger Nano S device to v1.4.1.

Hey guys... This may help some of you with the "MCU FIRMWARE NOT GENUINE" problem. How I got the error: tried to do an update directly from 1.4.1 to 1.5.5 firmware version, so the error happened. I was using Ledger Live 1.9 version, and i tried everything that is recommended: changing the USB cable, using another computer, changing USB ports... and of course, the native Ledger repair tool at "Help" menu. When I tried to use the Repair Tool for the "firmware not genuine", it just loaded the tool to the end and nothing happened ... the error screen just kept coming back and stay frozen there. How I easily solved the problem: just downgraded the Ledger Live version to 1.7.0 and used the Repair Tool again - Done! Hope I can help some of you struggling with this annoying problem. ATTENTION: you will need your 24 words phrase to recover the device after repair (at least it was requested in my case).

Thanks for your help! I was spending so much time going back and forth with ledger support emails. I took your advice an waited patiently for the app to start working with my nano s in the bootloader. A number of attempts and finally it worked.

Anyone having issues with the new PIN menu, where it asks for more numbers than your PIN is: the newest update changed the way the PIN works, to get the little "check mark" to confirm your PIN, you have to use the left button on the Nano S to go past the 0 to get that "check mark" once you have entered your PIN. For example, if you have a PIN of 1234, on the 5th digit, you have to use the left button on the Nano S to get to the "check mark" then hit both buttons to confirm your PIN

Wow ! Cant thank you enough for getting back to me so quick - even getting an answer in this game let alone one so quick is unheard of so thank you thank you thank you - your advice was spot on and it fixed my pin prob - was surprised after getting the update done and setting up live to find I had less space ie used to to store 5 apps and now after update device would only accept 4 ???? - bit wierd considering it says you could store up to 10 on Live NanoS - have you thought of setting up as a consultant ? - I would definitely pay for the service you just provided me - so needed in this Crypto space - Cheers Steve A (Australia)

My coins are fortunately still safe on the exchange! Not safe from me with a device that has only 2 damn buttons. I updated the firmware, even updated a driver port to do so! My Ledger device got stuck in Security Settings loop, I think I hit "yes" enabled something that allows MEW to get involved and I don't even have MEW. I unplugged the device after it asked: "Quit app?" I thought : What app?? Manager App?? I then just unplugged the device and cried for 5 days. Still crying. I live alone and bit off more than I could chew at 63 years! Managed to buy Ethereum and place it on a premium exchange, which is stellar. But I want to FIX this -- am afraid to plug the Ledger back in. Anything you can do is so great. Your video is clear and specific. Thanks.

Hi Hashoshi. Thanks for your video, it's great but not quite what I need. Like many, it's been a year since I've used my NanoS, I've also got a new laptop (Windows Surface) Now when I plug my ledger Nano S into my laptop and open the Ledger Live program, I click "Use Initialized device" > Nano S > Did you choose Pin (yes) > Did you save recovery phrase (yes) > Is it genuine (check now) > then when it comes up with the genuine check it just gets stuck and can't find my device. I've looked and the device is still on firmware 1.3.1. I have tried using Ledger Live 1.7.0 as I read that woudl work, but same problem. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much. Tom

Love the video. Please could you try and help? I was updating my nano s and got so far as the unplug hold left button and reconnect. The bootloader message came up fine then nothing happened. I mucked around for a while trying your techniques i closed down legder live. Now when i load up ledger live its asking me to connect and enter pin into device which is still on " please follow the update instructions. Should i reset my device or just wait to see? Thanks for the info The ledger I had it show the right amount of coins and transfers are on track, but... The market price for those coins including BTC do not match the market price on the ledger, it is way low than the market price. Thanks, I hope you can do a video about this and yes I have 1.5.5

Thank you for this video i fix my problem. To help next peoples that watch the video i have nano s since couple of years and i never upgrade . This week i instal ledger live , then upgrade firmware . It go to 100% then it freeze and nothing happen. After long wait i decide to disconnect . When i plug again the word upgrade stay the ledger live connect and disconnect in the moment. After many research on my computer i see that 1 driver was not up to date. Important to plug the nano then start to go on device manager. Before was only thinking to upgrade driver for my computer. I was close to biy a new laptop but guys i have windows 7 and usb port 1.0 and it works very good now. Thanks man for yiur help !

At least it sounds like you guys still have use of your options. Mine froze and allows no pin trys or menu use at all. I get firmware not genuine then identifier blah blah then will run in unsafe mode and frozen on that screen no setting or anything to even try with

Thank you for the help! I tried to repair my nano S after "MCU is not geniune" i followed the steps to repair but on ledger live it instructs "open the manager and click update firmware" but when i go to the device to do that it gives me no option to update, it just goes to settings and shows me my current version (S E 1.3.1 and MCU 1.6) and if i click "reset all" it just brings me back to step 1. any help would be appreciated. thank you

If anyone is stuck on the "bootloader" screen and their update won't finalize, what worked for me was right clicking on the Ledger Live application and selecting "Run as Administrator" (I'm on a Windows computer). Then I just followed the instructions again after plugging my Ledger back in and it finally worked. Hope this helps someone! :)

Hi My Validator which is made by Ledger model Ledger NANO S is stuck on bootloader since a month but today when i pressed right button unplugged it then plugged back pressing right button it showed Recovey i have already set 8 digit pin and 24 seed words tried 3 computers one with windows 7 then windows 10 and mac holding left side button doesnt work it shows bootloader while pluggin and henceforth and ledger manager only shows Restoring MCU Your device is being updated pls do not disconnect. thanks for your knowledge, had my computer reimaged with win10 in oct19 and first time reloading the ledger wallet. nano updated firmware and i was able to download the new 1.20 ledger live, but i cannot get the desktop wallet to activate..nano connected and stuck on the connect screen with repair options..could my issue bet that i downloaded thru Brave and Chrome is my default browser? thinking off everything to get this sucker open

nice video I was hoping that you would have spoken about my issue, where the ledger nano s is stuck in after updating to 1.6 at the initial ledger logo screen.. and when I attempt to repair it using ledger live app the ledger's logo only gets stuck blinking... has anyone experienced this issue and can you please help?

1. Unplugged when i see the "UPDATE" option in my nano s, then plugged in when i see the instruction in my desktop. 2. As soon i see the bootloader i release the button and see the update status and after 100% is says - "oops, connection error" 3.Then in my nano - s the "bootloader" screen remains till i go to "setting" - "Help" & click on the "repair" button in my ledger live. 4. Help!!! hi, I've been recently having trouble moving my bitcoin from coinbase pro to my Nano S.. Every time I try this, the funds are automatically moved from Coinbase Pro to Coinbase, instead of Ledger. I just clicked on "About" on Nano S, it says Ledger Live version 1.13.2. I wonder if you could help me? I’m trying to down load digibyte to my nano. And it just keeps spinning on the : Navigate to the digibyte app on your device. My update is stuck at the step where it shows 'update ' on the ledger device and the following message on the ledger app: "To begin, connect your ledger wallet". I have tried unplug and replug while holding the left button down on the ledger device couple of times. My USB port drivers are updated and there is no warning on device manager on windows. I unplugged and tried from a different USB port(as you mentioned in your video) and surprisingly it worked. its kind of weird to see that different ports works differently. Appreciate your efforts and help. Thanks again! Bye.

also ledger nano S doesn't support Windows 7. Not sure it if never supported this, but it worked for me until this update. Now I am stuck bec I have windows 7

Thanks for sharing - after i did the uprade my 4 pin code was not accepting my 4 numbers which i have used consistently since dec last year - any suggestions ???

with the new PIN menu, where it asks for more numbers than your PIN is: the newest update changed the way the PIN works, to get the little "check mark" to confirm your PIN, you have to use the left button on the Nano S to go past the 0 to get that "check mark" once you have entered your PIN. For example, if you have a PIN of 1234, on the 5th digit, you have to use the left button on the Nano S to get to the "check mark" then hit both buttons to confirm your PIN

Hi, i have a Nano S... i opened and did the seed thing and have my words etc..... tried to update and it first said MCU outdated... now its stuck... screen says update but does nothing, i unplug and plug back in and it goes to UPDATE again.. not to log in or anything ? cant get UPDATE off the display period

Mark Rink thanks for watching! Not to worry. Two things to note: when the screen says "Update" it can take a while to actually complete the process. One of mine took 15 minutes. Also, make sure your Ledger Manager application on your computer is up to date

i left it like that ALL NIGHT still says update on the screen, but its NOT CONNECTED To the ledger manager, i unplug and plug in same thing, does not ask for PIN or anything, screen just says update?

this is a NEW ledger, no apps nada, only thing i did was set up the PIN and wrote down my 24 words .....

Thank you for your video. My problem is different. I bought the Ledger Nano S in the end 2017 and I set it up without a problem and for 3 months I would use it also without any problem. Then I stopped using it for about 8 months until December 2018 where I could notice that I could not have access to my coins. At that particular moment I had no idea that the Chrome extensions were no longer valid and replaced by Ledger Live and tried like crazy to access my funds to no avail. What I think I did out of desperation is reset my device and what I do remember is that piece of crap would not recognized my 24 words which I never lost. I repeated 3 times and nothing. I was so frustrated I threw that sucker in my socks drawer until a few days ago when I tried again and same shit: It won't recognize my 24 words. Why is that even possible ??? How playing with these 2 tiny buttons could have messed up everything ? I wrote Ledger about my issue and they never responded, it's been 4 days now. I just ordered from them the Ledger nano X. I am scared though. I would like to fix my problem with the nano S before I start sending coins to the Ledger nano X. Can anyone assist me ? Thanks

I can't definitively say what happened, I'm not sure what combo of buttons were pressed, what software issues may have occurred, it's all hard to say. What I would do first is attempt to restore your 24 words to your new Nano X and see if that works. if so, it's a hardware issue with your Nano S. If not, it's likely an error when you wrote your seed phrase. In that case, the only option you have is to try and figure out where your mistake was in handwriting

Hello Hashoshi, my Ledger Nano S is stuck on the "Update" screen. This Ledger is a few months old, never used it after setting it up because it got stuck on the "Update" screen and Ledger Customer Service didn't help at all. Giving it another try now that they have this Ledger Live up and running, which I just now installed. My Ledger connects to the Manager, but the Ledger is still stuck on "Update." USB is updated (also tried on a brand new MacBook, still says "Update"), left it plugged in for a lot longer than 15 minutes, and also disabled my Firewall. Manager says its running 1.4.1. Any advice?? Thanks!!!

Please can you help me? So I tried to view my eth wallet from the ledger ethereum chrome app since the last time I checked in 2017 or 2018 and I saw it is no longer in use and that I should get the Ledger Live.. After I had installed Leger live, I tried to access it and got to the point of genuine check. I got this error " oops, couldn't connect to device , device detected but connection failed. Please try again or contact ledger support if the problem persists".

Hi, I am trying to use Ledger Live after not accessing my Nano S (1.3.1) for over a year. I am doing skip device set up > Nano S > is your device genuine; I then connect and unlock my device but nothing happens. I then do repair > follow device update; I do the bootloader thing but nothing happens (my device just shows bootloader indefinitely). Is this what happened to you as well?

I am getting the message "MCU Firmware is Outdated" when plug in the device. It is not asking even PIN to open. My current firm ware is 1.3.1 I tried using Bootloader also by pressing 5 seconds. Ledger live desktop is updated. Please give a solution.

Having a problem updating - it says the device mcu must be updated using the instructions - I went to settings>help>repair>Device must be updated using the instruction. I do that and then it gets stuck on bootloader after I follow instructions...

I wanted to update my Ledger to Firmware 1.6.0 During the update it went wrong, since then I only see the Ledger logo, when I do a repair I always get the following: "something went wrong. Browser support doesn't show up inside the nano s ledger. However I got the stellar lumens coins inside of the stellar viewer. Not able to get browser support to show up on the nano s ledger. This device is not user friendly.

Hello, I was wondering if you could help please? I'm trying to connect my nano s to Theta Wallet i get an error message that says 'Request from Chrome, This security key doesn't look familiar. Please try a different one'. I can't connect to any of my wallets with my nano s but I can connect to ledger live. My firmware is up to date. Is it a problem with Chrome do you think? My Chrome app is up to date, am I running the wrong kind of windows? Thanks!

Hi, I tried to do the pdate and it was stuck on the bootloader page on the nano s. I waited 3 hours and then disconnected it and it is now frozen When trying to fix it i stupidly reset my ledger. Now The ledger nano s tells me to update and ledger live asks me to initialise my ledger which i cant do as they want me to press controls and i have update errors on my nano s. Am i screwed :)?

My Nano S is stuck on "Update" screen. My Ledger Live says "Firmware updated, please re-install the apps on your device" But at the top of this small window it has one red x next to the word "confirmation". I reached out to Ledger but they say it can take up to 5 days for a reply. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have left the ledger on this screen for more than 15 mins. I believe I updated from two versions back.

When I plug in Ledger via USB: 1. MCU Firmware is outdated 2.The device MCU must be updated using the 3. Ledger Manager App. Press and hold 5 secs 4. the button close to the USB when you plug in 5. Update is mandatory. Press buttons to restart. I followed instructions and nothing is happening. I cannot access Ledger Manager when I plug in and it cycles through these same 5 slides when i click both buttons on the Ledger device. Please help!!!

Have you tried holding down BOTH buttons whilst plugging in, then releasing the buttons? Also, are your USB drivers and Ledger Manager application up to date?

I was trying to migrate DATA streamr after I updated my firmware and the ether wallet on ledger nano S. The transaction never went through and I finally cancled it after a few days. When I looked at my ledger live it would not let me send or receive any coin except BTC segwit. Do you know how I can get ledger back to normal? I Can't do anything. Julie

my ledger is stuck on update, was 1.3.1 or so when i updated with their new app ledger live to 1.5.5 i tried everything even with the ledger manager but my ledger is stock un update before i could go to the bootloader with the left button holding now nothing works :S

Please can you help me, my ladger nano s is stucked in UPDATE. Its just This blu writing on the screen UPDATE. Tried to reconnect with usb after disconnected it But nothing. Now ladger nano live app asking me to connect and unlock my device. But on my device its just showes UPDATE. Cant do anything. Please help me what to do?
