Let's get real for a moment. I’m not saying that a left hand brake wouldn’t come in handy every now and then. Sure, it would. Especially on the really tight right hand switch backs. I can see some other situations (on steep hills) that it could help in as well. On the other hand, the best riders in the world don’t have them on their bikes, and I choose not to either. Maybe those amazing riders just simply don’t need it because of their skill level. For me, I figure that I am cycling through bikes very quickly and usually have 2-5 at a time that I’m trying to split hours on. For me, less is more and I seem to get along pretty well without it.
Karen (my wife), Kaylee, Konnor Kase, and Kenzie (the kids) thank you for using these links. It is one of the ways we are supporting our family right now.

Left hand breaks are badass I had one a couple of bikes ago, you get used to it really fast, it's not in the way, and surprisingly you'll use it way more then you think you will.
@0xsergy

they're great but given how rarely you need em just killing the engine and using the clutch works pretty well too

I’m a right leg below-knee amputee, so I can’t use my right foot for the rear brake. On my last bike-2017 KTM XC 350-I used a Recluse clutch, so I could move my clutch lever down and put a recluse left hand brake above it. It was an awesome setup! When I get another bike, I’ll set it up the same way.

Awesome to hear you still ride bro. I recently lost three fingers on my right hand and hope I can still ride. I interested if I can use this left hand brake for the front brake ?

I think the older I get the more I like anything that helps with technical situations. I have two bikes and both have a left hander. The new OX version works so well I find myself using it a lot. Especially towards the end of the ride if I'm getting tired.

Is it easy to lock up the rear wheel? How hard do you have to pull the lever to do that?
@kylepeterson
@kylepeterson 4 года назад
it's really nice to be able to control the rear brake in slides, downhills, deep v ruts downhill, left and right steep off camber... and the occasional failed climb. it's just a tool that costs $40 to install(Hayes stroker master cylinder) and adds tons of control.

I bought the lever & cable separate & had the insert machined by a friend for the left hand rear brake. It came out considerably cheaper than buying the rekluse one. I think Rekluse uses the same lever & cable anyway. I absolutely love the LRB! If your foot is off the peg for whatever reason, to touch the ground, standing, you are left with your front brake only. If you have an auto clutch on your bike it will roll back on hills. The LRB to me is a must. I would put it on every bike!

Good point and not to mention, the hand brake kits cost around $300 to $400 and they could come handy if you are doing a Sea to Sky kind of race.

Tubliss are awesome! I agonized over drilling my rims but having done it I'll never go back. Just watching you ride sideways on that hill makes me want to dab that right foot....into the void.

Use your clutch as a left hand rear brake in nasty situations. Kill the motor in first gear, modulate clutch lever to slow rear wheel. Works great if careful not to relight the motor
@pandasman8657
@pandasman8657 4 года назад
We use that technique in hard Enduro all the time. Surprisingly quite reliable, motor doesn't relight very easily when you get the feel for it

Does anyone use compression release valve on their two strokes anymore operated from a lever on the handle bar
@robh3267
@robh3267 4 года назад
Left hand brakes are great but very expensive I've fabricated a couple of them that are cable operated with a shorty lever and they work excellent especially on steep downhills where it helps to keep your right foot planted on the peg I wish I had the problem of too many bikes to put it on all of them.

Those mistakes happen all the time. Good on ya. The small (3-5) group of good riders is always the best way to ride.

Just a question have you ever really rode in the woods for the most part what you ride seems fairly tame just flat single track and some 180 turns. To be honest some variety would be nice it gets boring watching you ride the same slow flat single tracks. Still love your channel im not hating just positive criticism.

Kyle, have you ever focussed on your breathing? It seems like you are always breathing more heavily than necessary. I do understand that you are talking for video and that will throw things off. I always practice my breath control within the first 15 minutes of riding and anytime after should I feel the need. Good point about stopping... Every time I stop I feel the need to get back to where I was before I stopped. It really breaks the "flow" and momentum.
@tommymaznicki6975

Like when you took the lower line if yo lock up ur rear tire and slide it in to the rut you will be able to make the turn
@delinquense
@delinquense 4 года назад
I was going to say the exact same thing. But as Kyle mentioned, right turns can be a bit more tricky and intimidating. It is all about trust since you won't have a foot to put down unless you take it off the brake. Also it helps to have the momentum when going into the turn. It is much easier to do at speed.

Hi ! Great video ! While you’re talking about parts, I own a Husky TX300i and I’d like to buy a silencer. Which one would you recommend ? Fmf turbine core 2 or the powercore 2.1 shorty ? I like the style of the shorty powercore but was wondering if one is better than the other. I race in Madagascar, mainly enduro and gncc style races. Thanks for your help !!! 🙂

Turbine core is for those that require a spark arrestor. If you don't need one, don't get the turbine.

Must be a guy who's never try to good one. They were clueless on my wise. He worked perfectly. The perfect amount of control. It made me much quicker. Everybody in my group. Noticed it right away. Especially on a two-stroke. Where you can't use the downshift to break Enough. If you're going into a right hand or carrying too much speed, it's impossible to balance yourself perfectly with your right foot and also brake with the rear at the same time. That's just a fact. The break saves you a little time. On each right hand corner.
