Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Boss: Abyssal Leviathan Tentalus [HD]

Was expecting a Kraken like design but nope we get an animated creature from Monster's Inc.

"Master, I believe the ship is under attack." You don't say?

"The current situation is difficult to determine with complete accuracy, but signs indicate that this ship is under attack." No shit, Fi.

I have an easy way to kill Tentalus without even raising your sword! Just point at him and yell at the top of your lungs: "23-19! *23-19*!"

The whole ship under attack by massive underwater creature set it up for something really awesome... But Tentalus just looks so goofy! Same with the Imprisoned and its little toes :3

I like how there's absolutely nothing in the boss room.

To be honest, this boss reminded me of Monsters inc. ...

I was so disappointed with this boss. The build-up was incredible and I was expecting this epic-looking monstrosity when I got outside and then I got... Tentalus. :| Don't get me wrong, the fight was fun and I enjoyed Skyward Sword a lot, but man did they ever drop the ball with this guy's design. I mean, Zelda games generally have some very cool boss designs. It's one of my favorite things about them, so c'mon, Nintendo. Why.

Let's be honest, even though that thing looked ridiculous, the build-up and the fight were epic.

It looks like the costum they made for boo in monsters inc.

One thing that has always amazed me about Link, no matter how freaking huge the monster is even if it makes him look like a dwarf in comparison, he just draws that sword and stands his ground like a complete badass of course its obviously because he's the Hero of Legend and he has something to fight for (Zelda) but still it's always amazed me that these massive monsters never seem to phase him

The music playing during this fight is so damn good.

The laughing fit this boss gave me, forced me to pause the game and put the controllers down for a minute...

One of my least favourite bosses in Zelda, hands down. And this is coming from a huge Skyward Sword fan.

Tentalus is one of my favourite fights in this game he’s so big and intimidating and I think he’s the biggest enemy in the Zelda franchise and his title abyssal leviathan is just so awesome

Awesome game... timeshifting stones are a really nice touch. Past and present in just a few steps...

This video was extremely helpful. I spent 30 minutes trying to skyward strike his face tentacles away and made very little progress. Saw you can just run under his face before it falls on the deck.

Even the mini boss of this temple looks scarier than this. I was hyped up and ready to kick butt until I saw this monster. I was like "Really!?"

I love how literally every single I have ever seen describe this boss have all independently of each other declared this to be Celia from Monster's Inc.

Most frustrating boss battle but my favorite area overall in the game.

IMO, this is one of the more underrated boss battles in the Zelda franchise. Sure, it is a bit disappointing with that buildup, but it’s honestly a little creepy to see, even if it looks like Celia from Monsters Inc. And the bow in SS specifically is my favorite weapon in all Zelda games (at least the Switch version. I never played the Wii version). And using it against this boss is really fun. The music and area is also really cool. And also, the bosses that are way bigger than a normal boss size feels cool. Overall, I agree that it could have been better, but at the same time, in my honest opinion, this fight ain’t bad either.

I was expecting to shoot a arrow at Scaldera’s eye. Stunning it on the ground for a short amount of time.

i get it! tentalus' name is based on the greek legend tantalus, who was cast into tartarus and forced to stand in a lake with fruit dangling above him, but he couldn't eat or drink.

These bosses are scary when I played this. This showed the true underworld where Ganon belonged and now they rule over Hyrule until Link defeated them all and reclaimed the land and became King with Zelda.

in terms of the fight? It was good! Boss theme? That was REALLY good! What about the boss design though? Uhhhhhhhhhhh.......

Although Tentalus was goofy looking this was my favourite boss in terms of game play ...

As goofy-looking as Tentalus is, it's one of the better fights in my opinion.

I can honestly say that I enjoy getting out of the Sandship more than fighting the boss :)

My first thoughts on Tentalus’ design were “That thing looks more like a Kraken then a Leviathan”.

strategy for zelda bosses - if it has one eye, shoot that eye with arrows. if it likes to eat or inhale things, throw bombs.

Every time the monster gets hit in the eye, it sounds like it's yelling "Nooooooooooo"

This was my reaction exactly when that happened. What tipped you off, exactly? The tentacles ripping through the ship?

I think if this boss looked different, I would like it a lot more. lol

@arsonistmonkeyzblaze The second phase isn't hard at all lol I just forgot to swing at the right time to fight off the tentacles. When I fought him the first time I didn't get hit once during the second phase.

I found the second phase of this fight, alongside the second phase of the first Ghirahim easier than the 1st. Which is kinda ironic, since I have more mostly I had more trouble with the 2nd and/or 3rd phases of the bosses in this game. 7:15 for the second phase of the fight.

Who knew straight away the monster was going to have one eye before you got outside?

I swear I used a Skyward Strike on my first tentacle. It didn't work, so I switched to arrows, which worked. Little bit harder because you're getting knocked all over the place. But if you shoot a tentacle with an arrow the tentacles will drop arrows.

@XHolyPuffX How come you only had 11 hearts and the un-upgraded shield? By the way, when can I get the Hylian Shield? I'm at the Fire Sanctuary (with 16 hearts) and suppose it's in the other, sealed exit of the Lanayru Caves, where the Goron is digging. How do I get there, or do I have to wait for the damn Goron to open the path after I progress further and further?

Add little snakes to the end of Tentalus’s tentacles (hair?) and you have Celia and Mike’s mutant kid from Monsters Inc.

Just a fact of biology, ocular tissue is delicate and easy to damage and does not regenerate in most species.

Honestly, I think all they had to do was change the lighting and make small tweaks to the texture and sounds of the fight and you would have a much more accurate depiction of the fact that you're in the dark fighting a GIANT SEA MONSTER with a glowing eye. The ideas behind the fight were still awesome though, never seen a zelda game where the entire dungeon IS the Boss Room. :D
