In Aussie terms I think it's cause they're owned by cashed-up bogans who think a McMansion that's furnished like a display home is aspirational goals bogan: an uncouth or unsophisticated person regarded as being of low social status. "some bogans yelled at us from their cars" You get the gist - and thanks, Oxford Languages :-)
The baby comes out the womb and opens it mouth to emit it's first cry and they hear "WHATS UP YOU GUYS TODAY WERE GOING TO BE PULLING A STRANGLED BY THE UMBILICAL CORD PRANK ON MY MOM!"
@@unclewiley1986 yeah I'd tell everyone to make sure that the umbilical cord strangling thing wasn't a prank. I'm throwing the whole kid away and starting over
As someone who does sometimes use a wheelchair, I want to say that I CAN walk. Wheelchairs are just for when I'm super weak, or in too much pain. A lot of us can walk, we aren't fully wheelchair bound all the time. Levels of disabilities vary. That being said, these pranks suck and are bad. Why would you want to scare your parents or partner by pretending you got really hurt? The fuck?
Same here, i have a medical condition that causes extreme fatigue and limb pain, so yeah I CAN walk, but often I use a wheelchair if I have to walk any amount of distance.
i think he just meant it must be jarring to see a girl walk in completely fine, leave in a wheelchair, and then b super energetic outside. but i understand your point.
Idk if this counts as relevant but once I broke my toe and I was in a wheelchair for a bit although I could still walk it's just because it made it easier to move around
A real prank is a prank that has Everyone laughing and happy, not someone crying or traumatized. It is extremely insensitive to pretend to have lost your memory or be missing, and it's horrible to teach kids that that's normal.
I agree. My brother used to do this to me when I was 4/5 and he was 5/6. I don't blame him since he was so young. And even though I realized after the first or second time that it was fake, (there's only so many times you can ask "who are you? What's talking? What's red?" Before someone catches on.) I developed this fear of getting amnesia. Even years later it stick around. (Talking 13-14ish) I would constantly remind myself of my name, age, where I live, who's around me, what's going on. Then I would repeat it less than 5 minutes later. (This was really strong between the ages of 9-14) And if I hit my head it was a constant loop of the same thing over and over for like five minutes. Now, I don't think my brother's to blame really. I sometimes have this thing where I and/or the world doesn't feel real. I haven't been able to be diagnosed with anything yet. So, I suspect that came into play with my obsession with it. But I have to wonder if I would've still had those thoughts if my brother didn't prank me with that.
Can we talk about how messed up it is to post a "if she says stop then she has to remove her clothing" video? Pretty much telling little kids that consent doesn't matter.
now that the mom is being sued by Piper's friends who claim "she encouraged them to have oral sex, bragged she makes kiddie porn and mailed her daughter's underwear to a man who liked to sniff it"... yeah this has a new light to it

These people are fucking despicable. I lost my grandmother last year, she had dementia and could barely remember any of my family. It’s so terrible to have a family member lose every memory of you, it hurts so much more than these people could fucking imagine and the fact that they’re doing it for money and clout makes me want to throw up.
Dude don't apply your personal bullshit to things other people are doing. The person above me is absolutely right, you sound like one of those people that complain about comics when they make a joke that could possibly have anything slightly to do with something that happened to them like they are the most important person in the world.
@@nonymouswisp8176 "probably faked"? was there... any possibility in your mind that the people in these pranks actually lost their memory? like what the fuck does that mean lmfao
That thing about Piper Rochelle is so haunting in retrospect; because her mom is now being sued by 11 of the kids who participated in the channel for heinous things. Tehmimi has made a video on it; it should be one of the most recent ones to date (if y’all wanna know more). Heads up for mentions of sexual harassment and child endangerment, though.
Actually, I think a lot of the kids are smarter than you think - they can see most people in these clips are acting (pretty badly, in a lot of cases) and just consume the content for vicarious thrills like older kids watching horror and knowing it's not real. Also, I think a lot of them will grow up to be embarrassed they even liked such stuff when they were young (until they end up nostalgic about it lol).
It’s devastating to me that these “missing” PRANKS get on trending when several missing persons cases get little to no attention. Imagine the exposure we could get for these ACTUAL missing people if even one RU-vidr just mentioned their name and picture at the end of their videos.
speaking of true crime and cases that need exposure, Kendall Rae is a youtuber that mainly focuses on cases with little to no media coverage. She often has the families featured in her videos as well so they are able to tell the full story. I highly suggest checking her out as her content and partnership with the families of victims makes a real difference. I know there are so many cases I'm now checking up on that I wouldn't hear about otherwise. Especially because cases surrounding POC, LGBT and Indigenous victims get little to no media coverage, especially nationally.
I recently saw a tiktok of a woman trying to find her son whom she lost track of after she got deported years earlier and she actually found him because of tiktok
As someone who has actually been in a coma and saw how it affected my parents and such, it really sucks to think it’s funny to purposely do that to someone. I didn’t have amnesia (that’s incredibly rare), but I definitely had a while after I woke up where I was not all there and my family worried I wouldn’t ever recover. Thankfully my memory was intact. So yeah. Maybe don’t prank your loved ones that you have gone through a horrific injury and have brain damage. It’s really not funny.
I'm a big fan of the prank they did on the Stranger Things s1 set where Natalia Dyer and Joe Keery put a tomato slice in Charlie Heaton's trailer because they wanted to hear him ask why there was a tomato in his trailer in his Northern English accent. It's so dumb, but Natalia told the story like it was the funniest thing ever and I love that. Stupid little pranks that are funny to literally just the people involved and not done for spectacle.
as a person who’s lost a loved one to severe dementia, it’s awful seeing someone you love not recognize you, not understand what’s going on, who they are, the sheer terror on their face because they’re so confused and can’t remember what’s happened in the last 5 minutes. these awful awful pranks are so disrespectful. omg thank you guys so much for your kind words, it’s really nice of you all. and i’m also so sorry for all of your losses aswell. it’s such a tragic thing to happen, it’s terrible that it’s so common.
I lost my grandpa like 2/3 years ago but he suffered from a stroke when I was very little and every month or so it caused to him to forget more and more it was really painful because if u haven't talked to him for like a few weeks he would probably forget you so these pranks are definitely sad and painful to watch. I'm really sorry for your loss and I hope yoire doing better now ❤
@@aza5685 The real question is, why do people feel the need to profit off of people’s trauma’s? And why do people like you feel the need to justify and defend the people doing so???
@@Bluescluesndyou interesting way of putting it. Maybe because everyone has their own traumas? No trauma is unique. And I wasn’t defending... all I was doing was basically asking them why put yourself in that situation to be hurt or offended? Yea these videos maybe messed up, but that’s the internet. And before anyone tells me I have no idea what it feels like to have someone with dementia, my grandma has it
"Pranks" with abusive undertones are how the perpetrators secretly fulfill their weird fetishes. They can't fulfill the fetishes in "real life" because that would be unacceptable, so they use "pranks" as a façade.
In that case I hope they keep doing it to have an outlet for themselves instead of acting out for real on this stuff. It is always a better option to have a safe outlet for people to use than try to absolutely ban and bottle it up waiting for it to explode whether that is metaphorically or literally.
@@damienearl8302 well yeah most fetishes are weird. That is part of what makes them fetishes. If OP is right, than this is a good thing to have rather than the alternative.
There was a wave of s*icide pranks here in Brazil a few years ago. I’ll tell some, so TW for s*icide themes. They were all horrific, they filmed their loved ones weeping with their limp bodies in their arms just for clout. I remember one girl started a fight with her boyfriend on purpose and then pretended to off herself. I’ll never forget his cries in the hidden camera video, him hugging her tight and apologizing, it was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever seen and she had the audacity to laugh at his face when she broke it off. One dude was gonna prank his girlfriend and he made up a really brutal scene with a lot of blood. But when she found his “body”, she didn’t panic, she kept calm and just started calling emergency. And he didn’t like that, he wanted drama, so he broke it off immediately and the rest of the video is just them arguing and him making excuses for himself.
as someone who’s experienced a close family member having dementia, I don’t think these people realise how traumatising it is to have someone not remember you. I get that most of these are fake and they’re probs all in on it but I’m tired of people making pranks out these actual traumatic experiences
i can’t even imagine i am so sorry you had to go through that. These channels should not be allowed to exploit people trauma like this and i hope that one day it will be recognized.
my grandma died from dementia it’s depressing asl to not be known by ur own family member and then to lose them to something like that and there r just ppl faking it for views? yea no it’s weird and exploitative and gross
I'm going to Hell but the way the boyfriend says "Remember, omg, remember our song?" and then starts awkwardly humming it has me in tears laughing every time
That yellow gown that the Dobre guy is wearing isn't even a gown they give people to wear. Its a contact precaution gown you wear over your clothes when you are going into a room with someone who is under contact precaution for stuff like MRSA or C-DIF. It's literally made to be torn off so you can rip it off while you still have gloves on and never have to touch your actual clothes to your gloves or any contaminated surfaces. Actual hospital gowns are not expensive. I don't know why they didn't just buy one.
@5:10 just a reminder that people with invisible disabilities and chronic pain can and do shift between mobility aids and sometimes not using mobility aids and it doesn’t make them any less disabled!!!
I was gonna make a snarky comment about the mom saying "I'm fainting right now" before going limp, but then I remembered the time when I was feeling really faint and I ended up turning to my mom, saying "I'm going ghost" and just sinking to the floor
Okay I'm so glad you're okay and I'm not saying that losing consciousness is ever funny it's often times super scary but "I'm going ghost" is iconic and I'll never forget it
As shitty as these “pranks” are, I just want to say that the “walking into a medical supply store and leaving in a wheelchair” isn’t unrealistic. Not everyone who uses a wheelchair needs it all the time. I’ve used wheelchairs on and off over the years because of my congenital heart defect causing me to get out of breath really easily, and always got “wHy ArE yOu iN a WhEeLcHaiR iF yOu CaN wAlK?” questions as a kid, and it was deeply annoying
Like people with handicapped plates who have MS. They walk into the store fine and then by the time they leave maybe they're having debilitating pains or can't walk without assistance. And you can never know when it will strike
This is true! Also people with severe narcolepsy also sometimes need one because it's safer for when they fall asleep while out instead of falling over
Piper Rockelle’s video is even more upsetting in retrospect since all these allegations have come up about the parents being terrible to the kids behind the scenes
I had a TIA in January and losing me memory before I lost consciousness was extremely frustrating. I was in the ER and my neighbor drove me and I couldn’t answer any of the question ( address, social #, etc). And then afterwards when I finally went back to work ( I’m a server ) I couldn’t remember a lot of menu items and what questions to ask. I did such a bad job for a few days and felt like a failure, but I’m glad the dog said my parents would get a divorce
One of my mottos when it comes to pranks is “confuse, don’t abuse.” I like to mess with my friends in virtually harmless ways that only confuses the shit out of them, like putting photos of Nicolas Cage in odd places or texting them “you forgot your phone at my place” and if they want me to stop, then I stop, no questions asked.
I thought when the little boy said "remember our song" he meant like... when couples decide they have a favourite song and it's "theirs". not their actual song 😩
Here's a thing too many people don't know: there are wheelchair users who can walk (ambulatory wheelchair users). I can walk just fine, my legs work, but I have orthostatic intolerance and debilitating chronic fatigue and I need to use a wheelchair for longer outings with a lot of walking or I get really sick. I help my mom get the chair in and out of the car when I can. You can never assume you know whether or not somebody needs the chair they're using based on if they can stand and walk or not. Anyways. Screw these "pranksters" using trauma and disability as props. edit: misspelling
Yes thank you. I use a wheelchair for the same reasons and I was glad that he called the family out for using mobility aids as props, but the way he did it showed a big lack of understanding. The girls parents are really, really gross though and I hope they donate it.
Yes!! My little sister has POTS and chronic fatigue. We had a woman accuse my sister and I of stealing a handicapped parking space because she stood up out of her wheelchair to get back into my car. Meanwhile theres a fully visible handicapped placard hanging off of my rear view mirror.
Holding that pug and telling little kids their parents are probably going to get divorced is uhhh..really sad. Also the little girl crying saying it’s not your fault for the brain injury was really upsetting! The poor girl truly believes it and it was actually a pretty intimate moment. Gross
Oh man, watching actual children talk with that specific influencer cadence is just...it's so fucked up. There is no way in HELL that those kids will be well adjusted adults
...or any type of "hype" house, or posse, or "challenge", or 5-minute anything, or "secret", or "you won't believe".... Correct. I will *not* believe your click-bait. Took me a long time to "train" RU-vid what NOT to recommend. Even so, last week checked two news stories on FOX News' website while having YT open in another tab. Immediately, my feed started showing CRAP like mystics, tarot-card readings, horoscopes, Paula Dean recipes, and more junk I'd NEVER click on. (My hand to G-d, what I am saying is TRUE.) Google is so invasive, after twice checking FOX, they assumed I'd had debilitating brain injury. Had to spend way too long telling Google's algorithms I am still rational.
Me and my siblings have been doing this thing where we hide pictures of Bob the Builder around each other's rooms (My siblings share a room and I have my own). THAT'S a prank, not emotionally scarring someone.
One time, a kid in my school went missing and his friends wouldn’t help because they thought he was pranking everyone. He actually ran away and was found injured. These pranks are too normalized. Edit: you guys don’t have to like it or anything, I just wanted to share that this stuff has actual effects every once in a while.
can ppl stop using memory loss, disability, and traumas as clickbait? as someone who experiences (some) day to day memory loss (not to the extent that these pranks show, but still memory loss), i find it really ironic how people will bully someone for being disabled then turn around and do this kind of ableist bullshit for millions of views, while actual disabled people trying to talk ab their experiences get silenced.
I feel this. I had a reaction to a virus that meant I temporarily needed a wheelchair and it gave me so much respect for how hard it must be when its not temporary. Watching someone buy a wheelchair and film themselves posing in it like its a fun accessory is annoying. Its not a toy.
You know as a disabled person it’s really frustrating when these people go to a medical supply store and can just buy a nice wheelchair or mobility scooter when insurance like mine will refuse to do so so I have to buy a crappy cheap one from Walmart or Walgreens.
hey drew/everyone! As a disabled individual, I felt the need to point out that most disabled people who utilize wheelchairs are ambulatory wheelchair users -- meaning these individuals have physical use of their legs, but use wheelchairs during things like pain flares, dizzy spells, general fatigue, syncope episodes, etc. Wheelchairs are incredibly freeing mobility aids. So many people who benefit from & use wheelchairs can do exactly as this girl did: do jumping jacks or whatever and get right back in it. It doesn't mean they're "faking" anything. With chronic illness and chronic pain, there are good days and bad days; there are some days you can run miles, and some days you get so nauseous or dizzy or full of pain you can't get out of bad. There are fluctuating levels of ability. You can some things one day you can't do the next. Wheelchairs aid in mobility and independence it's a huge misconception from able-bodied people who think that those who use wheelchairs are paralyzed from the waist down and cannot use their legs period. i know it wasn't drew's intention to perpetuate this stereotype, and it was incredibly insensitive and demeaning of that girl's family to use mobility aids and disability like this in such a flagrant way. just wanted to send a little message from the disabled community! thank you :)
im glad a lot of people are talking about this !! i have a connective tissue disorder (and cfs on top of that), and though i don't have a wheelchair (thanks american healthcare system!) i use crutches semi-regularly to help mitigate dislocations and help with energy levels, and allowing myself to use the aids i need rather than suffering through and doing more dangerous and permanent damage to my body was ... really hard! because of these mentalities of ablebodied people scoping out for Disability Fakers TM. its tiring to see and im glad that kjgsdf other people are mentioning this here.

@Alice It’s figurative speech not to be taken literally. No ill will in it. I’m more worried about their grandma. Edit: It's terrible that Alice is getting this much hate. I was just sharing my objective opinion. No need for uncivil comments. There was no negative intent in their comment. Quite the opposite actually.
My grandma also died of Alzheimer’s, it happened like 6 years ago but she forgot everyone in my family and before she died she said she hated all of us and that she just wanted to go home to her children, to my mom and my aunt. Such a horrible disease and I’m sorry that you went through it as well and seemingly had a worse experience than me. I'm a paralysed person, horrible motorcycle crash. I broke my T6 and my sternum , I had multiple surgeries . And I can in fact confirm when you get a wheelchair, that's exactly how it goes. You do funny poses, with dogs and glasses with the nurse staff. And then you get to return your wheelchair cause it was all a prank. I hope, oh wait nevermind.
If you want to see a real instance where a twin loses his memory, there's this documentary on Netflix called "Tell Me Who I Am". It's incredibly fascinating. The brother who still has his memories basically lies to his brother about their childhood, telling him they had a great childhood and never telling him now awful it really was. It felt like watching a thriller, and it was just so crazy that it was real
the sheer rage I felt, as someone who needs mobility aids, at seeing someone get a wheelchair just for a prank was a bit too much, even for me. how can anyone think that's okay? how come none of the adults vetoed such an awful idea
These are those people that use the motorized carts at the store while being totally fine resulting in someone that needs the motorized cart not being able to use it, and playing into the harmful stereotype that everyone that uses them are just lazy. It pisses me off.

A guy I used to work with would often warn others "Don't play in a wheelchair unless you want to end up needing one." He was in a wheelchair himself, having severely injured himself when he was 13. While his injury was not related to his playing in his uncle's wheelchair as a child, his uncle gave the same warning he himself now gives.
No joke: I thought the title said "Let's Leave Pants in 2020" and it took me 9 minutes to realize this video was never going to start talking about pants.

As a person in a wheelchair, I'm almost numb to the pain of people using it as a symbol of weakness, ailment, and helplessness. We're real people and we have lives outside of our disabilities.
They're not using it as a sign of weakness or helplessness, they're committing to the prank of being injured by... getting a wheelchair like people who've been injured and need to recover or rest do. I don't see what's problematic.
@@nile7999 I think the real problematic thing is using ailments for views in general and how "prank channels" profit off of these things that gullible kids watch
@Amirah Garces look don't get me wrong, i agree with you and content like this is obviously insensitive and nasty, but they're not faking a disability are they? like, i've been pushed around in a wheelchair for a couple of days when my knee was fucked up despite not having a (physical) disability, so while it's dumb to fake something like this surely it's realistic for a temporary injury.
As someone who actually has someone who lost their memory in my family. These are so ignorant. It’s actually heartbreaking and they are making a joke from it :/
